Lake Isle Country Club
About
Located in the heart of Eastchester, Lake Isle Country Club is a facility that is owned by the town and offers a swimming complex with five pools and a tennis center with eight courts in addition to the 18-hole, championship golf course. Opened in 1926, the course is one of the oldest in the area and it is still a local favorite. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the course may be on the shorter side but it still offers some challenging holes. The layout is mostly reachable par 4s as well as a few tricky par 3s and only an occasional par 5. The golf course has a classic design that is approachable enough for a range of skill levels to feel comfortable tackling the layout.

fast greens , course in great shape
Super friendly staff, lighting fast greens, almost always a fast pace of play. What else could you ask for? Lake Isle is in great condition, the greens are as good as any country clubs in area.
Felt totally disrespected at this place
We arrived early and were checking things out because we are from out of state and never played here before. I guess we didn’t look like “regulars” and the starter, in a very condescending tone, says to us “You guys are the GolfNow tee time.” He didn’t ask, he knew. It was as if we were each wearing a Scarlet Letter or something. He then says “We may let you go out early, but we normally don’t do that and strictly hold the GolfNow tee times to the time that was booked.” He continues “It’s because we don’t make any money on you.” I then said “Well, you contract with GolfNow, so that’s between you and them.” He didn’t get it. It’s not like we were playing for free – we still paid over $50 per person with taxes and fees. I don’t understand why you would take it out on the golfers who are paying money to play your, very average at best, course. If you don’t like your contract with GolfNow, terminate it. The course was just ok, so I cannot understand the pompous behavior like it’s some exclusive and incredible club they’re trying to protect from peons gaining access to the kingdom. The course was fairly maintained, but there were some “quirky” holes. I pity anyone who plays a yellow ball here – there were about 1,500 yellow range balls in the middle of the 10th fairway which is right next to the driving range that has a 10 foot high fence to keep the balls in the range. What a joke. Find somewhere else to play unless you enjoy being belittled and humiliated.
A "THINKING MAN'S COURSE"
300 YARD PAR 4? "THAT'S EASY!'' .FOR THE BIG HITTER ,250 YARDS LEFT GETS YOU IN THE TRAP,275 DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE?....TRAP !! IT'S A TRAP! TAKE A 200 YARD CLUB AND AVOID THE PITFALLS! NOW ,LONG HITTERS HERE'S YOUR CHANCE! HOLE 4,5,6- 425,400,AND 449 YARD PAR 4'S GRIP AND RIP ! OH BUT BE ACCURATE TO NARROW FAIRWAYS WITH NO GREEN FORGIVENESS .DID I MENTION THE NEAR U-TURN DOG LEGS OFF THE TEE ON HOLE 8,15,AND16? YOU MUST VIEW THE TV MONITORS FROM TEE BOX SO NOT TO HIT UP ON GROUPS IN FRONT OF YOURS.THIS COURSE HAS TREMENDOUS CHARACTER AND AS OF THIS REVIEW I HAD TO SEEK OUT THE SUPERINTENDANT AND PERSONALLY THANK HIM FOR THE TREMENDOUS SHAPE OF THE GREENS.-SUBMITTED BY A 10 HANDICAP WITH OVER 300 ROUNDS AT BETHPAGE BLACK. ENJOY!!
great greens
easy course to walk,a lot of short par 4s but also some strong ones,3 par 3s at 200 yards plus, excellent greens
This course is poorly designed and the sand traps were horrible. no value for your mone, stay away..
This coures provides litle value for the money. The tee boxes criss corss eachother verry narrow and the sandtraps were horrible. I would recomend this coures for $25.00
i paid $65.00
Short, fun course with condition issues.
The greens and fairways were in good condition, but conditions outside the fairway were fairly atrocious, with areas that were either bare or comprised of unrepaired divots. The result is you are forced to hit off dirt or mud if you want to play it as it lies.
pricey for out of towners, but a good course.
Paid a discounted rate of $65 only because it was conveniently located midway between myself (long island) and my playing partner (new haven). Course was a bit on the short side, so we played from the blues (we areb white stake players) which was about 6100 yards. Fairways are in decent shape, greens were well maintained and a bit hard. Course doesn't have too many bends, however the fairways are tight, so if you put them in the middle your rewarded with good lies. If it was less expensive if give it a better rating
Rude starter, extremely tight course and less than satisfactory experience ...
Will never ever return to this course. Starter, believe his name is Joe, was super rude.
Nice mix of distances and elevations
Overall a nice course. Not a very long course, but a few long par 3's keep it interesting. I like the course, but the sand bunkers are more like dirt bunkers, unpredictable in texture.
Fairways are tight, but course plays shorter than 6000 yds
A few interesting holes, #17 probably the nicest. If you are playing well you will score well here. Tough day yesterday with a few lighting delays. Staff was friendly.
Not Bad
Arrived late, but the people working there were very accommodating and friendly.
First impressions: nice country club setting, small driving range and practice green for warm ups
The course conditions were better than just maintained but just a little worse than pristine. Its a busy golf area so i was surprised with how nice it was.
Course starts out very easy, but becomes tighter and a little more difficult as the round goes on. Definitely have to be careful with your club selection and shot placement.
Not much water on the course, but a decent amount of bunkers to make up for it. Greens were tricky, slow but filled with subtle breaks. Very difficult to stop the ball dead on the green for some reason.
If you're looking to switch things up and escape the awful county courses give Lake Isle a try.
Nice and easy, very good for beginners (like me)
Nice course, not too difficult therefore attractive for not highly skilled golfers. Par 70 for men, par 72 for ladies. Friendly staff. This is a club for town residents, with some openings for non-residents. I have played here on afternoons only.
simply a better experience than the local municipal courses...
well maintained, picturesque, pace of play, value for the money,
access thanks to Golf Now.... I hate the thought of ever playing some of the 5 hour plus local municipal courses again.
GREAT GREENS.
Lake Isle is a well maintained golf course. The staff was very welcoming and pace of play was excellent. We were able to play in under four hours and the experience was well worth the price. I will look to play again in the near future. The pro shop was well stocked, the carts were modern, and the improvements by Stephen Kaye were an added bonus to the original Devereaux Emmet design.
Well-maintained, but marshal needs to be more aggressive
This was my first time playing at Lake Isle, even though I'm a resident of Eastchester. I found the course to be well-maintained, clean, and the staff extremely friendly. It's a bit short at under 6,000 yards, but made for a fun day. It's a good, walkable course. The course is not particularly challenging with only one water hazard on the 17th hole and forgiving fairways. That said, I thought the layout had good variety and was enjoyable to play.
The one negative from the day was the course marshal, who while extremely friendly and polite, did a very poor job of maintaining pace for the course. I'm not a scratch golfer so I can understand people playing fairly slowly and appreciate not being/feeling rushed, but we counted 14 strokes (and plenty of practice swings) from one person in the group ahead of us on a par 4. The result was them holding up both our group and the group behind us, despite a hole being completely vacant ahead of them. We brought this up to the marshal, but he didn't do anything about it. By the 13th hole, we managed to play through and we never saw them again (for all I know, they might still be there). If the marshal can pick up the pace a bit, it'd be a great, local resident course to play.
I'd definitely recommend the course, and would be sure to use Golf Now prices instead of Pro Shop as they can be considerably cheaper.
Course plays longer than you imagine.
It's a nice course. The greens are in good shape. The par 5's make it seem like it isn't a very long course. But, there are some long and challenging par 4's and a few very long par 3's that make up the difference. I will definitely play here again.
Nice Place
Good course I played about five years ago and the place has gotten much better. Greens were rolled true and were fast, fairways allowed balls to run which added a few yards when I actually hit the fairway. Staff at pro shop very nice and never had to wait on the tee. Only complaint is the bunkers they need new sand but living in Eastchester I know the money for that is not a top priority.
Not what you'd expect from a "Semi-Private" Course
A little disappointed with course condition for a "semi-private" bare and brown spots dry conditon. Short course, most holes reachable in two. Decent greens, Par threes had little or no fairways in front of greens.
Most of the Westchester Public Courses in better condition then this course Carts did not even have GPS Systems! Definitely would not spend full price to play this course not worth it.
Short course, and tight fairways with a few challenging par 4's and par 3's. conditions were sub par but still playable
Staff didn't manage the tee times appropriately and we had people jumping in front of us at the turn. Overall not the worst experience but could have been better.
