Hudson Hills Golf Course

Played in perfect fall conditions, paired with three Yankees fans from NY. How bad a day could it be? Drove over an hour from CT to play. First time through can be very frustrating with too many blind tee shots, blind second shots and some blind shots to the greens. Seems the warning came up on the cart GPS every hole "Warning this holes has blind tee shots" kind of a running joke after the front nice. Some really squeezed in short holes that really slowed down play. Par 5's are very poorly designed. Could only hit driver off one of them and it was a blind shot - hit and hope you find it. Had to constantly use one guy in the group as a fore caddie. One option on the par 5 15th was to carry the hazard at 251 yards or layup off the tee 170 yards which left 320 up the hill. To top it off it was a six hour round which I contribute to so many blind shot. Players were constantly search for their balls. Plus side, beautiful piece of property, conditions were good and the staff was very friendly.

Played the course on a great weather condition. Course is challenging with various elevations and slopes. Fairway and greens are in good condition. However, some of the tee boxes were in terrible condition. Front 9 holes are tight and sloped quite a bit. Overall good course to play.

Like many courses in Westchester, HHGC makes you take accuracy into account. Their rough can be vicious to get out of and greens run really well. Another track worth making a drive to play 2-3x per year for folks around the area.

Fun and challenging layout. But 9 minutes between tee times isn’t enough; especially if you are going to let beginners play from the back tees and not have a ranger on the course. Nobody likes a 5+ hour round.

The nicest public course in Westchester County, by far!

Easy to get to, right off the Taconic. Decent putting green, but there were no holes in it to putt to. No driving range. No place to sit outdoors to have a drink or something to eat. A lot of the course was in decent shape, including the greens. But certain sections of the fairways and a few of the tee boxes were quite beaten up. The layout was interesting. A lot of nice holes. And some great views from the tops of the hills. Two of the par fives require an iron off the tee (unless you can hit it a mile). I do not like that layout for a par five.

This is a VERY tough course. If you’re a 20 handicapper, bring at least 6 balls. A dozen would be better. All sorts of trouble. But, play it a second time and you’ll start to figure things out. I shot 95 with 8 pars and 1 birdie. The rest were 7s 8s and 9s. The trouble there is quite troubling indeed. Worth the trip and the $$$.

As for the course itself, the pace was of play was okay but I think that was mainly to a group cancellation. Tee boxes and sand traps were in decent shape. Many divots in the greens so maintenance could be a lot better. The layout of the course itself was disappointing at the time but it was also my first time there so know what to expect If I ever go again. Won’t be rushing back. For roughly $90, this course is not worth that cost. Better bang for the buck at the other area public tracks.

This is an extremely challenging course, and aerial views don't begin to tell the story. There are significant elevation changes on many holes, and fairways are steeply pitched, leading to many sidehill or uphill lies, and worse, to blind shots. Forced carries are found on several holes, and the rough has been allowed to grow out - as if the course was being groomed for the US Open, which someone forgot to tell the greenskeeper, is actually down the road at Winged Foot. Someone also should tell golfers when they start the round - select a tee that's within your handicap, and pickup after your 7th shot. For a scratch player, this is a wonderful challenge. For a weekend player, it becomes a 5 hour round, and that's at least 30 minutes more than the fun factor allows.

Staff are very nasty. Too expensive and not value for the money they charge.
