Great course but very challenging
Nice course in Hudson Hills. Great views and nice holes. Very challenging and the next three weeks the greens will be still in bad condition due to arification!
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round, mwen001! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Nice and Challenging
After playing for first time, enjoyed course very much. I am high 80's low 90's player on most courses (finished 91 here). Course has tight fairways and fairly woodsy. Will lose balls on bad shots and some that are good (have all eyes in group follow shot). Overall has fun hole designs. Holes had some aerated greens (conditions will only get nicer). Cant wait to return and beat my score.
kevin8284280, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Hudson Hills Golf Course.
Great course, even better staff
Baffled by one or two of the recent reviews of this course and felt compelled to correct them. I've been up in Ossining, NY since March and have had the pleasure to play this course a couple of times a week since. Every person on the staff I've dealt with is incredibly accommodating and aims to make the experience safe and fun. Harry (starter) and Tom (in the clubhouse) are the ones I've dealt with the most, and truly stand out as people working hard in a tough time to make sure everyone is secure in the conditions and able to enjoy a round of golf (though again, everyone on the staff I've dealt with is like this). Having been around golf for a while and having a family member in the industry, wanted to point out a few things:
1) It's March/April in NY. It's going to be a little wet and windy, and it's going to be cart path only. Just the nature of the sport. You can't ruin the course all year. Greens will be aerated. It's a necessity.
2) The course itself is a lot of fun to play. Most of the holes you are faced with decisions and need to think strategically, which is always the sign of a good course. To me it's by far the most interesting and challenging of the Westchester County courses.
3) Unfortunately, any public golf course is going to be faced with the problem of having people that don't have proper etiquette. It's nothing unique here.
Going to repeat this - they are making it as safe as possible for all guests. I've never once felt like there was any risk to my health - and I can see the extra precautions they are putting in to both the carts and the setup. Big thank you to all of you for an oasis during this time - looking forward to being out there again soon.

Desperate times
This course is extremely hilly and was cart path only, perhaps due to the rain the day prior? Because of the terrain, I’m not sure one could take the cart closer to one’s ball even when the course dries out. This resulted in taking several clubs down to ball to get a better look. That, in turn, affected pace of play and feeling rushed by a twosome behind us (4). The greens had just been aerated, which we weren’t aware of. $70+ for these conditions was a bit pricey but I’m sure it comes back to supply and demand.

Disappointing
We booked through GolfNow and called twice before going to the course to address Covid issues. When we arrived, they wanted us to pair up with 2 people that we did not know. We balked, at which point the Pro Shop attendant said we could leave but he could not refund (I had not even left the window) or walk as a twosome. However, the starter said we would have to wait around and he would see if he had a spot (we already had a tee time). With too many people already waiting around in close proximity (by the carts, on the practice green), we left. Looks like a nice course and was a beautiful day but not safe and Starter didn't seem to care.

One of the best in this area
Course was in good condition although there were some wet and soggy spots due to rain the day before. Course is quite challenging due lots of elevation changes, blind shots, forced carry etc. beautiful views.
Great value and probably the best public course in Westchester area

COVID-19 Golf
To start, I am a mid-handicapper with putting issues. Hudson Hills and the other Westchester courses are an oasis in the midst of these trying and terrifying times. As a resident of NYC, golf is now non-existent, so any open golf course within 70 miles is a welcome sight. This course is trickier than most, requiring some thought on the tees and well placed approaches into the greens. The greens were difficult because of their varied speeds, but I chalk that up to having just opened and poor weather conditions. Overall the course is in excellent shape, the staff is accommodating and polite and are cognizant of the social distancing requirements to keep golfers and staff safe. Our foursome finished in less than 4 hours, which I hear is rare for this course. I would love to play again mid season when conditions are at their peak. I thank the county for allowing these courses to operate. We need it. Be strong and be safe!

The best Westchester County course
Very good layout and nicely designed holes. Bring your long game because you’ll need it. 6300 from the regular men’s tees and quite a few of the holes are straight up hill and long, and if the wind is against you, be happy with bogey. Some tight fairways and although it was early in the season, the rough right off many of the fairways will eat your ball. You need to play it a few times before you will be able to learn placement for your shots and course management. Don’t expect to show up and shoot a low number first time around. The only complaint would be nobody seems to repair ball marks on the greens, but that’s not the management it’s a public course that lets anybody out, and obviously many new to the game haven’t learned basic etiquette. Do not attempt to walk this course unless you have a couple of days to recover, or you area young mountain goat. I usually walk and carry and my pedometer is at around 7 miles at the end of the round. Here it read 10.5. And I wouldn’t want to be carrying my sticks up #15, a par 5 straight up hill that took 3 shots with my 200 yard hybrid to reach the front of the green. It’s a test, and I’ll be back even though it’s way more expensive than the 5 other county courses. But that’s because of the deal that the county entered into to acquire the course. Facilities were nicer than the other county courses and there is definitely a exceptional feel to the place for a municipal. But I will put it in the rotation, but not an every day course. This is a course for serious golfers.

Great Course
Live and Westchester and play Hudson Hills regularly. It’s a great deal if live in Westchester for the course.
Course is very scenic and challenging. Need to be able to hit it relatively far off the tee if hoping to score in the 80s. A lot of holes are hitting uphill so plays a lot longer than the distance.
The course workers are all super courteous and friendly. I like the course also cuz typical rounds are 4 to 4.5 hours. Only negative is that no driving range.

Slow Play
I really wanted to like this course but the terribly slow play and awkward layout made it hard. This is supposed to be the nicest of all the Westchester county courses but I didn’t think highly of it. The majority of the holes have blind shots and the holes feel like they are on top of each tower. I thought the back 9 was better than the front with more interesting holes and wider fairways. The worst aspect of the round was the terribly slow play. No ranger on the course and the starter let out a group of 12 all at the same time. This was a 5 hour round which could have been avoided. Better courses for the money in the area.
