Never in Better Shape

Been playing here for years! The golf course is as good as it has ever been. Greens fast and true, fairways perfect and rough at playable level. Somebody is doing something right here.

Fine Public Course

Enjoyed a lovely round in beautiful but gusty weather. Wind was a factor adding to the difficulty, but the course is very bucolic...great escape from city offering lots of exceptional views and an interesting layout. Overall quite challenging -- front 9 is very tight, densely wooded, with quite a few blind shots (even solid golfers will lose golf balls here), while back 9 is more wide open and forgiving. But the course never feels unfairly difficult. This is definitely in the best of county-run public courses in the NY area, greatly exceeding expectations. Drawbacks: a couple of gimmicky holes, like #7 (long par 5 with massive hazard right in the tee shot landing zone for most golfers) and #17 (impossible to navigate on the first time out). In some instances, signage was lacking, making it difficult to know where to aim (though excellent touch screen on-cart GPS was helpful). Also, very little sand in bunkers which were generally in pretty poor condition, but it's early in the season and there's been quite a bit of rain, so one assumes that will improve. Greens were clean and firm, though I found several really hard to read. Rough was high but manageable. Pace was fine -- 4.5 hour round on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Also, very smooth 35-40 minute drive from the city. Will definitely return.

Hudson Hils

Great course. Best county course in Westchester. Staff was excellent and finished round with no problems teeing of after 4:30pm. Could be a hard course to play if you don't like a lot of walking. Other than that I love the course.

Great way to spend a mornig

A beautiful sunny and warm morning in Ossining. The course was very wet due to 3/4 of an inch of rain the night before but the course was very playable. We were a twosome that played our round in 3 hours.

I wish that were always the case. Cant wait to play here again.

Extremely slow play, no rangers

Frustratingly slow round clocking close to 6 hours starting at 3PM is unacceptable. Foursome in front of us had no course etiquette. We would watch them chat, joke, laugh, walk back and forth to the cart before shot, drive back down the fairways for some reason, hang out on the green, and just take their sweet time. There was atleast 2 holes in front of them open. Bunched up the whole course behind them. And there was NO RANGER on course to say anything to them.

Very good test of golf

We were about to get a Hot Deal from Golf Now. We stopped here on our way up to the Catskills for a long golf weekend at Christmans in Windham, NY. Staff pleasant. Course in good shape and the strong breeze made it very challenging on elevated tees. Landing areas narrow and it would be helpful to have played the course a few times as there several blind shots and elevation changes but the GPS shows where the carts ahead of you are which is helpful. A poor tee shot will probably cost two shots. Can't give it an extremely challenging rating as that is reserved for a place like Montauk Downs. I would say very challenging but the pull down menu has "somewhat".First time here and would come back.

Tough Track

I don't normally review courses on here but I made an exception for this one. I was warned that this course is deceptively hard and that I would lose a lot of balls and that turned out to be completely true. The problem is the thick grass that runs along the course. That could led with the fact that the greens were not in the best condition made for a challenging day. I like challenges but this one was not worth the travel time and expense. I believe this is the most expensive of the westchester courses and I won't be playing it again. On the upside the course was no crowded but if you get paired up with others for a foursome you are still looking at a five hour round because the course is long and there is the long grass issue. Overall I probably won't be coming back .

We're sorry to hear that the course proved too challenging, but we're confident one of our other Westchester County courses (Dunwoodie, Maple Moor, Mohansic, Saxon Woods, and Sprain Lake) will be an excellent fit for your experience level!

This is a challenging trek. This course is really for mid to low handicap golf. When you can get the golf now prices this course is worth every penny.

Tough challenging track in great shape

With the wind blowing and the thick ruff, this track played really tough. With the pin placements being tight on most greens, either a tournament was just held or the super was being evil. Lol

Anyways hands down, this is the best public course in Westchester County. Tee shots require length and placement. Blind shots on several holes along with elevation changes makes this challenging track play even longer. Course is in great shape and the friendly staff do a good job maintaining this place.

Good condition but not the course to play after a rain

I played here after two days of rain and the drainage at this place is pretty poor on half the holes. It was my first time here and I liked the layout and it was generally in good condition. I think there was just an excessive amount of rain in the days before because some of the bunkers turned into lakes and they were pumping them out. Greens were difficulty too because some had poor drainage and others were fine, which made consistent putting a challenge.

Ill come back here for sure but not after a rain.

Soggy conditions can definitely present a challenge! Even with great drainage, a deluge can make for a tough couple of days. We're glad to hear that you still enjoyed your round and we hope you'll play us again during drier conditions!

Difficult Track - Greens in A+ Shape

Have played here many times and I'm not sure if the greens have ever been better. Rolling very true, especially for the time of year. Rough was absurd as if their lawnmowers have been down for weeks. 8-10 inches in places! Tee boxes were a bit shaggy but otherwise in good condition. Always a good option to play here with a hot deal. Will return.

Great afternoon

Great deal. Friendly staff. Nice course. Only complaint is that I needed scuba gear for a few of the bunkers, many of which were more like lakes (but it was a rainy April!).

Good value

Second time playing Hudson hills; first time was in august of 2015 when the conditions were dramatically different. The course was spongy and the greens were very very slow - they needed to be mowed badly this time. They must have also just redone some of the tee boxes because the grass was long and they needed to be rolled. Still, even with all this, paying $85 for Hudson is wayyyyy better than playing at any of the NYC golf courses on their best day. I will be back a few times this season. The course is challenging from the tips. Only comment would be that it needs some sort of a warm up range. At the very minimum they need to add a few more bays in the netted area and have some range balls sitting by the mats.

Weather played a part also.

Tough course for me. the course was very wet from recent rains, so no roll or bounces. Took extra shots to get to longer holes. Still enjoyed the round as it is challenging and well laid out.

Nice Course

Really nice course, and narrow so challenging. Elevation changes, and challenging in that you'll have a few non-flat lies. Great greens that roll true. Better than NYC local courses for us city-goers. And this round was decently fast, 4.5 However the course isn't walkable, or at least i don't think so...
