nice cousre
course condition was excelent.
green condition was escelent.
Very rude Assistant General Manager
A gentleman who claims himself the assistant GM of the course was extremely rude to the players. We were instructed by the starter to start with the 10th hole. so upon finishing the back 9, we returned to hole #1. This assistant GM, who was playing with another guy, saw us and came with the presumption that we were trying to cheat another round of golf out of them, and told us that we need to pay the replay fee. First of all, he failed to identify himself as someone working on the course, secondly, he approached us with the wrong presumption that we are trying to replay without paying... Overall a very horrible experience and really wonder why a mannerless and rude guy like this can be allowed to work there
Great public course
A great public course, a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. Blows away the other westchester county courses in quality.
Great public golf course in Westchester
Great course with a lot of blind holes. Greens were in great shape.
The course was no fun playing
Too many blind spots from the tee box and fairway. The course was wet, carts on cart path only. Walking to Your ball not sure of the yardage and the club you will need. Too many Mosquitos. My overall experience was not good. I have an office tournament schedule to be played there which I will cancel. Not a good experience.
Nice Course
This was an exceptionally well maintained public course. The challenge lies on the front nine, where many of your tee shots are blind. It was difficult for everyone in our group as it was our first time playing this course. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a moderately challenging outing. Pace of play on this holiday weekend was extremely slow, with our round taking nearly 6 hours. We spent a lot of time on each tee box waiting for the groups in front of us. Make sure you have the time to play a long round.
Great Challenge
Course is a great challenge. Front 9 is not very long but you need to strategically place your tee shot on most of the holes. Back 9 plays longer but it is more open so you can grip it and rip it.
Challenges on the Hills
I played on August 3, 2014. Teed off at 11 a.m., finished at 4 p.m. Course was in nice condition, except for the greens. The greens on many holes are peppered with ball marks, both repaired and unrepaired.
Very challenging course, as shots slightly astray can result in major problems. Plateaued greens make approach shots especially challenging/fun.
The staff is very professional. I ordered lunch at the turn and the young lady offered to drive my order out to me so as not to delay play. Although a had a two group wait anyway on the 10th tee box, it was a nice gesture.
In summary, not a course for a recreational golfer without patience and etiquette. If you've got an A game, you need it here.
not thrilled with this course
The location of this course is why I play often here. Greens are sub par. I doubt they have been rolled once this year. The fact that this westchester county course is $85 to play on a weekend when the other 4 county courses are no more then $60 is outrageous. The price would be justified if the course was maintained well.
On the plus side its a challenging course and fun to play from the (7,100 yard) tips also better to play during the week in the afternoons as the green fees are $30 after 5pm and the course is not very crowded.
GPS, Elevations, Views & Challenges
Stopped here on a trip home from Connecticut and hadn't reserved with GolfNow in advance due to threatening storms. When we arrived everyone was at the clubhouse because of lightening, but the storm was passing and they anticipated resumed play in a half hour. We made our reservation thru GolfNow while in the clubhouse to get the $85pp rather than their $115pp with no problem. Staff was wonderful and very friendly & helpful. They started us out on the 3rd hole as a twosome so we would be ahead of three foursomes with no one in front of us. Staff led us out to the 3rd tee and was very helpful describing the course. The GPS equipment on the cart was a great feature, since we were not familiar with the course. It was a real help as there are several blind holes . The pace was quick from 3 thru 9, but slowed significantly on 11 thru 18 because of slow play in front of us. Although the cheerful ranger was constantly around on the front 9, we had hoped he'd show up on the back 9 and hustle the slow groups in front of us to no avail. After 18, we went back and finished holes 1 & 2. The course was challenging but excellent even for an intermediate player like myself. It was in great shape and we enjoyed nice elevations and great views throughout the course.
Beautiful course with lots of challenges
Many hidden greens and deep rough off narrow fairways. The cart GPS helps but still wont see where many of your tee shots land. Well groomed course. Great staff. Will play again.
Hudson hills
Extremely challenging for a county course, lives up to the 129 slope with narrow fairways and not many flat lies. The course punishes you severely for small errors with your ball rolling into waste areas easily. Not a course for the usual county player. If you can't hit straight with accuracy this will be a long round. But for county course the conditions of fairways, tees and greens was great.
Beautiful area
Challenging course with many blind shots. Beginner golfers may find course difficult
Country Club experience
I play Hudson Hills regularly on weekends. From the minute my friends and I stop at the Bag Drop we are treated like we belong too a private club. We are always greeted by at least one and sometimes two people out front who make sure that we are paired and ready to play on or about our scheduled tee time. 90% of the time we are on the tee and ready to play at our booked time. Yes, there have been a few times we were delayed but the staff does there best to keep things in order.
The golf course is difficult. We play from the blue tees which are similar to the white tees at most other courses. We have found that the par 4's and 5's give us all we can handle from there. There are 5 par 3's of short to medium length and are not all that difficult but boy those par 4's are long...many to elevated greens. The greens and fairways are in excellent condition. The rough is pretty severe and should be cut more often.
At the end of play we are treated to a very attentive staff who are dedicated to providing us with top notch service. Our clubs are cleaned and placed on the rack ready to be picked up in a matter of minutes. It is always an enjoyable experience at Hudson Hills.
Hudson hills day out
Was a tough course. Use irons more. Blind spot drives. Overall, great course. Wind on back 9 can change the entire round. No driving range.
slow play
I understand that public golf courses want to book as many tee times as possible per hour, but when there are so many that a reserved tee time is 20 minutes behind, shameful.
The starter apologized and did the best he could. Also, where has golfers common sense of fairness gone? The group in front of our 9:48 tee time was so slow, that " while we're young" did not effect them...would not occur to let a faster group play through...where are the course marshalls?
The bunker conditions are terrible, spend some time raking them and put sand inside of the traps....
The rough is too high for public play, why not have a first and second cut of rough to speed up play?
There is no divot repair or ball mark repair on the greens....
All of this for $ 85... no bargain...this is a $ 45 green fee at best....
Scenic view, fast andulating greens
Course not in the shape I am accustomed to playing it, the blind spots beat you up from the tee box, but still had good time. Pace was good, if you never played it before it is well worth it.
perfect day ruined by HH
The Good:
Played on a Sun, 10:24 tee time. Perfect weather with a few buddies on a friend's birthday. Ready for a great day.
The Bad: The starter calls 10:23, and thinking he made he a minor mistake, I say right here, 10:24. He says no, 10:23. My friend says to me, maybe he meant 10:33? No again. Starter (Steve?) says there was a compluter glitch, don't shoot the messenger! and gave us an attitude. So, the tee times were a minute apart??? He took the twosome behind us and paired them with twosome ahead, and with the 'new' group squeezed in, we didn't tee off until 10:50.
The Course: Overall, in good shape as it should be with the rain, rough is juicy and greens were rolling nicely. I had a couple drives I thought were perfect end up in ankle deep rough, <1 ft off the fairway. Ever heard of a first cut? As an earlier review mentioned, the green on #14 is a sitting duck for drives hit right off #4. Holes 2,15,16,17 all run parrallel, get ready to take cover.
The Price: $115 to play w/o a pass, I'll pay half that and take my 5 hour and 20 min round to Bethpage Black.
