A country gem
I have not played Growling Frog for probably 15 years, and was expecting a solid outer suburban track on my return.
The last time I played there GF was only about 5 years old and was a little rough around the edges.
I was pleasantly surprised on my return. The course has matured into an excellent country feeling layout with some holes comparable in look to those of the more famed sand belt.
I particularly liked hole 2, which is a lovely par five with bunkers at the landing area, second shot up a hill to a front to back sloping green.
The course features excellent bunker complexes around the green, and several long par 3s. The 16th plays 200 yards from the back. The course played hard and bouncy today and features some severe elevation changes from tee to green.
Nice clubhouse with bar looking over 9, 18, 10 and 1 tee. Full putting green, short game area and driving range.
