Eagle Springs Golf Course (formerly known as DeFuniak Springs Country Club) is Walton County's oldest course and one of the panhandle area's most challenging. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills covered with pine forests and five spring-fed lakes, both of which come into play throughout the course. Sandy scrub brush and colorful flowering bushes accent the landscape even further. The towering trees lining the tight fairways are just some of the many challenging natural hazards. There are also 23 strategically placed sand traps throughout. The small, elevated greens are pitched and undulated in such a manner that would make even the best putters nervous. The rolling elevations also provide picturesque views from nearly every point on golf course. Eagle Springs Golf Course requires accuracy and careful course management, but the layout is still surprisingly accessible for a range of skill levels. As part of recent initiatives and upgrades to the property and management, kids under 15 play free.

Complete turn around!!!

If you have not played this course within the last few months I recommend you give it another shot. The bad fairways were sprigged and have grown in very nice, also the greens are growing in great with the exception of a few. The course is very old so the slower greens were to be expected with the type of grass on the greens. The deal this weekend was awesome, they waved all greensfee's and let everyone play for just a cart fee. They have done a complete 180 and seem to have things going in the right direction.

Great place to test your putting and relax to beautiful views

First off the fairways are under attack from I don't know what but they are being worked on and have a long way to go. What you do is hit your drive and find a fair lie either close by or take it off to the side as some are under complete repair. Greens are in great conditions BUT don't blame the course if you can't putt cause these are some of the tougher small greens around and will certainly test even the best players. Tee boxes are okay but just forwarning you on the condition of the fairways. The course is doing their best and for the price including the cart you can't go wrong!

Work in Progress

By their own admission this course is indeed a work in progress and requires major and serious work. Fairways are atrocious or basically non-existent, greens need attention, although were playable in most instances. A well laid out and designed course with some very challenging holes. By way of a comparison say Seascape, Emerald Bay, Indian Bayou or even Foxwood Country Club could rate as say ten, DeFuniak is a one. They have a long way to go and should change their description to be more truthful so no one will be as disappointed as we were.

Disappointing

Greens are in excellent shape, but the fairways are like a pasture. We paid $17.00 for the rounds and that's what it is worth - no more.

Never go back at any price

You've got to be kidding me!! Worst conditioned fairways I've experienced in 45 years of golfing. Great layout. Can see that at one time (at least 10-20 years ago) it was a fine course to play. This is simply a course that they have let "go to pot". Don't waste your time.

Course in very, very bad condition

Staff was very friendly. The fairways were in the worst condition of any course I've ever played.

Course needs considerable work. Fairways in terrible shape.

The fairways really are not by any other courses standards. Something bad has happened here. The greens are ok. Playing was not enjoyable.

Isolated, inexpensive, good greens, poor fairways (winter)

Tee time 11:08, actual 11:16. Followed a fivesome, and they had to frequently wait on golfers ahead of them, so play was very slow.
Putting green was in fair shape, but most greens were in very good shape. Tee boxes were generally good. Ball rested on ground for both fairway and rough shots. Sand traps were very good. 18th green had been damaged. Course was about 1 hour drive from gulf beaches.

Interesting layout and, perhaps, ONCE WAS a fine course

Not much good to say about this course. Back T boxes were mostly weed. Fairways were weed and sand with many poor llies in the middle of the fairway. Greens in fair condition but extremely tiny for course length. Only sand traps were average.
