Pleasantly Surprised
I haven’t played this course in over 4 years. Conditions were alway horrible. Now I know it’s early in the season but the rough was clean, fairways were great and the greens are getting there. I definitely will be back if it stays like this. Pro shop and rangers have always been great.
Pace of play
Pace of play was slow
took 5.25 hours to play 18 holes. Course should schedule tee times to 10 minutes apart instead of 8-9, this way players are not on top of one another waiting to play next shot
We apologize for the slower pace of play during your round and appreciate your suggestion on scheduling tee times further apart. Thank you for sharing your feedback to help us improve.
It was Cartpath only and I asked a question why is it cartpath only it hasn’t rained in a week and the man at the desk just simply said my boss said he doesn’t want anyone on the fairways the fairways were Hard as a rock no puddles at all. If I knew that, it was cartpath and rough only I would not have booked there. I am 72 years old and I don’t like walking 18 holes when the fairways were hard as a rock. I think that’s gonna be the last time I ever play Gamblers Ridge because every time we play there they throw restrictions at us. If I Hadn’t driven one hour to get there. I think I would’ve called Golf Now and asked my money back, but I was with a friend.
You get what you pay for
Booked on golf now for $35 including cart. Problem with this course is that it seemed the fairways and greens had not been cut in many days. The fairway grass length was like the first cut and the greens felt more like what a fairway length should be. It was disappointing because I played on a Monday and it did not rain over the weekend so there was not a great excuse. Also many, many tee boxes are badly ripped up. Price and pace were fine but probably not a repeat visit for me.
Waiting game
The day started having to wait for golf carts to come in to start our round. We all had wet socks from all the water and mud. Every hole had 3 to 4 foursomes on it and at least 2 foursomes waiting at the T box. Our round started around 220 and as we finished up the 17th hole we were told we couldn’t go to the 18th hole and our round was over. It would be too dark before we finished. That was at around 715. Just about 5 hours of cart path only golf and didn’t even finish. It was the most tiring and slowest round of golf I ever played.
It was OK
Round was a little slower than expected (5+ hours) and I am not sure why. The people in front of us were on the slow side but they seemed to be waiting for the people in front of them quite a bit. Course itself was in fine shape for this time of the year. They have an issue on the 17th hole of which they are aware and are in the process of fixing.
Quick round
Teed off at 6:40 by myself finished a leisurely round at 9:15. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Course was in excellent shape.
Great Staff
Lve the course-still early in season-so cart path only which understand completely
We're thrilled you love the course! Thank you for understanding the cart path only policy during the early season.
Decent place
You get what you pay for. Overall not bad. Hot dogs are awful
Hello, u314162393020. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Gambler Ridge Golf Club.
Conditions made it a long day
Course was in good condition, but weather compromised the round as we were cart path only due to the heavy rains the days before and the high winds. We were making good pace with the group ahead of us, until we made the turn when the groups in front of us switched making for a longer round. Didn't help matters when our cart got hit by a errant tee shot from them between 16 green and 17 tee. They claimed they yelled fore, but happed so fast not sure if we heard them. Other than that, it was a decent round of golf.
Thank you for your understanding regarding the weather conditions and for highlighting the course's good condition despite these challenges. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the slower pace in the second half and the unfortunate incident with the errant tee shot; we hope to provide a smoother experience in the future.
We're thrilled to hear about the improvements you've noticed since your last visit and appreciate your kind words about our pro shop and rangers. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
