Good course worth a few rounds a year
This is a nice course I play a few times a year.....At peak rates I think it is overpriced at $80 but they do have GPS on all carts and the course is maintained well. There are some interesting holes a decent challege. Staff is a bit dismissive as if you are doing them a favor playing there. But I will probably keep playing a few times a year overall decent course.
Lack of preparation and service
I was very disappointed with my trip to High Bridge Hills. Slow play was terrible and I did not see one ranger on the course trying to help speed up play. Next, we had issues with our cart. It began to die as we finished the front 9. I went to the starter at the turn and he got me a new cart. This worked for roughly 4 holes and then the same problem-no power going up even the slightest slope. We had to push the cart up some hills just to keep playing. At the 14th green, we were near the clubhouse and attempted to get another cart. We had sent a message earlier (using the GPS system in cart) that we needed another cart but never heard from anyone. When we went to the car barn, we were told they didn't have any more carts. We still had 4 more holes to play and had been on the course for over four hours. I am not one to walk off a golf course but the slow play combined with the cart problems led me to leave the cart where it died, pick up my bag and walk back to the parking lot. I have no interest in returning to this course.
Too slow. Not enough spacing to allow for quicker pace. Also, not enough time to recharge the electric carts.
A 6 hour round is poor management. Electric cars died on at least 3 cars along the way. We watched as 2 guys pushed their cart out of the middle of the fairway, watched the group in front of us unload and carry their bags off of the 3rd hole! An abadoned cart in the middle of the cart path. That's embarrassing!
Variety of Challenges
I had a great time at High Bridge Hills Golf Club. There many interesting holes with great elevation changes and features. I definitely recommend not going in to the rough as it is difficult to find your ball in tall grass. I love the views and very calming atmosphere. I will definitely come back.
Well worth the 1.5 hour drive from NYC
The course is so far the best I have played this season. The grounds were beautiful and clean (no leaves). The tee mounds were pristine. The challenge for this course is keeping out of the rough, which is fair considering the lack of tree hazards. This course will make you use every club in your arsenal. I'll definitely look to return here again.
very disappointed.
I understand there was a frost delay, but to not shotgun starts was crazy. We were delayed a half hour. When we finally got out pace of play was extremely slow and there wasn't someone to push some of the golfers on the course to play faster. We ended up paying almost $60 to play 10 holes. Very disappointed.
Blind shots and big elevation changes. Pretty decent overall
Tricky course off the tee if you haven't played here before. Greens rolled fine, good shape all-around. Alot of fun shots with the reachable par 5's and elevation variance.
Tough links course; unforgiving
Love Golf Now but somehow there is a disconnect with High Bridge. They don't seem to know that a tee time is booked through Golf Now and always try and charge full fee.
Decent course for the money. Typical public course, nobody repairs ball marks or rakes the bunkers.
Decent course for the money. Typical public course, nobody repairs ball marks or rakes the bunkers. Actually I don't think the course itself rakes them.
One of my Favorite Courses
This course is very scenic and so well maintained. This is by far, the best course for your money. Only 40-50 dollars but plays and looks like a $75 course. The straw rough is extremely challenging and reminds you of a british open links feel. The greens are also challenging with there hidden breaks but it will never get you down because of how well maintained the greens are.
This is my top fav courses in New Jersey and everyone should go. I'm so glad i only live 15 minutes away!
September 22 morning
Overall course is in good condition. Some traps could use more quality sand but they have edged the traps and possibly that is their intent! Despite my quick round as the day goes on they need to have rangers enforce a reasonable time of play. The speed of slow play is the downfall of most courses and is destroying the enjoyment of the game.
Nice Course, a little pricy
The gourse is good, --- not great, but the greens fees were almost double what I would expect for a course of this quality, in this area.
I play golf all over North Jersey. For me to recommend this course to friends, the fees should be lowered by 30%.
Great Risk / Reward Course.
You don't need to use the big stick all the time. Birdies are definitely out there. Make sure you focus on the 8th (Par 3), and 9th (Par 4) as hazards come into play.
