Hole #9 "Vista" Photo submitted by David2342364 on 07/17/2013
Great Experience
I initially played this course as it was convenient to get to from my home. After my first round, I was hooked on the challenge, course layout and condition, food/beverage options and the general hospitality of the staff; on and off the course. This course is a very good value for the money and a scenic treasure. If you had only one round left in you, it should be played here.
You need a sherpa to play here
The course is beautiful. It has so many blind shots it is ridicules. The yard markers are useless. We played in 85 degree weather and not one water cooler or cart girl on course. The course lay out is tortally frustrating. We would never play here again.
Blind Shots All Over the Place
Too many blind shots to play with folks who rarely play here. NO WATER to drink anywhere on the course. Bring your own or buy it at the pro shop. We played after 1500 so no cart girl on the course. Overall the course is in great shape but I won't go back unless this is the only deal around.
My go-to
Awesome course. Exceptional scenery. If you haven't played it before, go with someone who has. Handful of blind shots
I Had a great Time
This was a very nice and well kept course. A little more money than I usually pay for a round, but not super high (I'm just a cheapo). Very pretty course very well maintained and just the right kind of challenging. Definitely would play again..
Overall, high value
Skyview is a great course to play- the scenes from hole to hole are impressive and the course conditions and above average. I would highly recommend this to my friends- the only drawback are the after course bar area- truly lacking considering the course it represents when you compare it to Black bear or Crystal Springs...
Nice course
Very hilly but well maintained. definitely need a cart. Bring extra balls
Unless you're an advanced golfer, avoid
This was my first time playing Skyview. I normally shoot high 80's on the local courses, but skyview sucker punched me, stole my lunch money, and left me in the dust. Hole 2 is a massive par 5 that's entirely up hill. There are blind drops over hills, 100 foot blind drops to greens after random doglegs, a barn to hit around, two tiered fairways, and greens where you 3 putt and call it a win. The conditions were beautiful, staff was friendly, and there was no bog down until hole 15. If you're a solid to good golfer, give it a shot, but unless your low 80's or better, hit it dead nuts bolts straight, and have 2 dozen balls to lose, there are plenty of courses more enjoyable solely because they're less maddening
Price Per Area
Decent price for the Area golf course for a great course.
Beautiful Track
Good mix of par 5s and par 3s to keep you in the hunt. Some very difficult holes on front espec. Go with someone who has played there if it's your 1st time there. If not you must have yardage gauge as there are wide disparity vs sign post at ea hole. Scenery is amazing. Not crowded after 2:30. Staff very nice. Best value for the $ I have played in a long time. Good condition. Heard it can get dry. Went after a lot of rain and it was drained perfectly. Greens tough. Great track
skyview golf course
Good challenging course. Good value for the money. worth a play.
CHALLENGE
Great course, very challenging, bring extra balls.
Very hilly, lots of sand traps.
Sky view
Course is in great shape, beautiful mountain setting. Greens were quick but not too fast. My only comment is the slope on some greens makes a difficult hole even more difficult. I would have expected less slope on the holes with narrow, undulating, fairways.
Needs accurate yardage markers.
The course was in nice condition for the most part. It could have been mowed a little bit around the greens though as it was fairly thick grass if you were just off the greens. The greens were pretty fast and true for the most part.
My biggest complaint would be that there are no yardage markers on the par 3's and the yardage listed on the monuments on the holes and the yardage listed on the scorecard vary widely so you aren't sure how long the hole is from any tee box on any hole, not just the par 3's. But it's definitely a problem on the par 3's.
Also, there was no drinking water on the course from what I could tell and no one mentioned this before I teed off.
The course was fun to play for the most part. The front 9 is much more difficult than the back 9. Lots of blind tee shots throughout.
Great experience
This was my first time playing at SkyView. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I played as a single and finished the round in 3 hours which was nice. The views of the mountains were stunning on a few holes (most notably the approach shot into the green at the 4th). Overall, the course was a little challenging, but you can definitely shoot a good score with ideal conditions. I will definitely come back to play more rounds here.
This course has the ability to be a great course
Sky View has one of the best view in Sussex County and the course could be a great course to play, if changes are made. The fee are at full summer prices at $60 with cart. Starting with the head pro. While putting on the practice green I asked the head pro why the green was in such bad shape and he said the greens were just air ratted. I asked if they were rolled and he said no, not needed. He said if I did not like the greens I could have my money back. The course was in very poor shape, greens lacked cutting, bumpy, lots of bare spots and the fringe not cut much at all. None of the sand traps had been racked for some time, you could see foot prints, water marks and dog tracks. No water on the course and when I asked for Ice at the halfway house I was told I had to purchase a drink no free ice. Some ball washers were on the course but no water in them. No place to put trash and lots of empty bottles and litter around. The fairways looked mowed but the off the fairways the ruff was high enough to bail for hay. We do not believe at this time Sky View is worth paying $60 to play.
Tuff course
Tight fairways lots of risk reward use your driver on par fives
Other wise placement is key lots of elevation changes
Greens were not in the best shape hope the summer months will help me the greens.
Great value at $60 on the weekend - too bad that plugged and sanded greens were not disclosed at booking
Skyview has always been a beautiful, challenging course. In general, it is well maintained, and good scores depend on making accurate shots. The biggest disappointed on Sunday was finding out that the greens had been punched and sanded the previous week, but not disclosed.
I would definitely play again, because I know how good this course can be.
Hidden gem
This course was far better than I expected. Very interesting layout with a lot of challenges. Course was in great shape considering how early in the season. Very similar to Berkshire Valley in many ways.
What a view!
I was very happy with my experience at skyview. as the name suggests, the views from the course are breathtaking, and if you're lucky enough to get a clear day as I did, you will not be disappointed.
As it is still early in the season, most tee boxes were condensed so it played shorter that it would peak season. However, with the steep inclines and rolling hills it proved to still be quite difficult regardless of the length.
