Fall Golf
The views on this course were fantastic. The course is very well maintained as far as the greens and fairways are concerned. One problem was the leaves. I lost 6, yes 6, balls on the fairway on the front 9. This made the round very difficult. The other problem was the blind shots. The layout is unusual in that there are several blind shots that are followed by turns in the course. It would be helpful if they added some flags or upright markers to give some indication of the general direction of the green on the blind shots. Needless to say, course knowledge can change your score by 5 strokes. Hopefully the leaves were a one time occurrence. I would play the course again knowing the location of the holes better.
Stay below the pin or you will do a lot of three putting.
Course in great shape, greens quite fast. Played in just over four hours. Reasonable senior rate.
My Favorite NJ Golf Course
Sky View is a technically challenging course. Lots of hills, and blind pin placements, but for some reason, I've some of my lowest scores here. The course is always perfectly maintained, and the amazing, panoramic views from 9 and 18, are worth the greens fees.
fun layout
some really great views of the mountains in north jersey and PA. fun layout to play...have to play it more than once to "get" how to play it. only downer is the 4th hole....that is one I don't get.
Lots of ups and downs
Nice course, great views, a lot of blind shots. Front nine is a lot more difficult then back nine. Lost more balls in one round there than I have all summer. Staff is very friendly, course was in good shape. Most holes if you hit a long straight drive you get to your ball and you have a uphill or downhill lie every time.
Sky Review
First time playing this beauty. It felt like I was deep in the mountains somewhere instead of an hour from Somerset county!!! Tough but not overwhelming course. I had a great value of $35 round on Golf Now. I will play it again!
too many crazy holes and way too much climbing hills
In the first place it was 90 degrees and there was no water on the course. I would never play a course a second time with that situation. Way too many hills to climb just to get up to the greens.
Scenic Play
A challenging course with lots of elevation changes and deep rough. The views are worth the challenges.
Skyview
My first time playing Skyview was a good experience. The grounds are very well kept and in this late of season the greens were in excellent condition. The course itself is short and very narrow with a lot of blind shots. I would not necessarily recommend it for beginners because they will definitely loose a good amount of balls. Overall a good day. I enjoyed the round.
NIce course
Skyview has been one course in my list to play at least once a year. The course setup is challenge for first time player. We finish a little over 3 hours with no one in front or behind us.
Great course
The only thing I did not like is how the score card distances were different than the ones posted at the tee box . How are u supposed to know which is correct. But overall great value
Beautiful course
Great course had challenging holes and great views from every hole will definitely be back
Fantastic views from this coarse
This is a challenging coarse with many blind shots to greens. If you don't like steep fairways both downhill and up and tricky greens you will not like this coarse.
Bring a Caddie or a Sherpa
The course itself is in great shape, except for the tee boxes. Most of them could uses some work, especially when you're in the woods. Put me in the group that finds hole #4 (their signature hole) a bit goofy. I was 135 out in the fairway in 2, and couldn't see any part of the green or flag, since it drops about 75' from the fairway. If you have good control off the tee, you can drive some of these downhill holes as it's in hard/running shape. But like others have said you may want a guide the first time around just to see where these blind shots lead to, and to find your way around where the paths cross. Also, the views on some of the tees are fantastic!
Jaw Dropping Views
The scenery is spectacular, which contributes to the difficulty. Lots of hills to contend with. Hole 4, a par 5, unbelievably ends with a shot down the mountain. Make sure you inspect the hole after the drive or you could end up in big trouble. And, ask for the booklet that describes the holes and give tips on where to direct shots. Finally, we saw a mama bear and two cubs on one hole. Definitely a course to play again.
A challenging, fun round with beautiful views.
This was my second trip to Skyview. Being a county course, it can be pricey without a county card, but with the Golfnow deal, it is well worth the trip. The course is plenty challenging for even experienced golfers with a mix of tight fairways, out of sight greens, elevation changes, and natural hazards with some holes still wide open and less challenging. The clubs house has fair drink and food prices. Can't wait to go back.
Tough but entertaining course
Tight fairways and lots of blind landings make for a very challenging course. The vistas from several holes are breathtaking. Greens were pretty quick. Bring LOTS of balls if you are not a controlled golfer. If you are not in the fairway or just in the rough, you'll be searching for your ball, and probably not finding it. But it's a beautiful layout, and a lot of fun when you do make your shots. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Scenic Test of Golf!
Skyview really is one of the most scenic courses in NJ, it seems like it belongs up in the Appalachian mountains. Course was in great shape and it really played difficult, maybe a little too much for anyone not breaking 90 regularly. The only suggestion I have is make all brush/shrub/wooded areas lateral hazards, eliminating the need for second tee shots. I think this would speed up play greatly. All in all, beautiful course, well maintained, and very scenic
