Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course

This course is in such a terrible shape right now, it's not your mony's worth. I played this course many times last year it was in great shape. Hope it is restored to it's old condition soon. With all that it is still a great course to play in this area.

A few of the fairways were totally burned up. I hope that there is a plan in place to bring this track back as both of the mercer oaks courses are some of the better public courses around. i will continue to play this course as it is still one of my favorites.

I took advantage of a hot deal. It was cart path only and the fairways show a lot of weather damage from heat then excessive rains and it was cart path only. For the hot deal price this was OK. Had I had to pay full price I might have been disappointed. Layout is good and course very playable from gold tees for me as I transition from regular to senior tees this year. Greens were good but understandably cut longer and slow. Great place to play golf.

Normally a great course but the alternating rain and heat conditions have really great up some of the fairways here. West course has always had more of a water issue than the East and it shows this year. That being said, greens are great and layout one of the best for a country course.

My day was almost ruined by being paired up with 3 walkers who probably had never heard the term Ready Golf... but I left them and played alone and under 3 hours. Frank said they finished at over FIVE hours ... with no one in front of them!

Called a day ahead about course conditions, told us the course is recovering from water. We showed up and they were aerating greens and fairways. Lots of burnt fairways, terrible conditions. Greens are slow. If you hit your ball in the fairway it’s pretty much hitting on dirt. Very upset with the staff for not notifying us about the course.

Course in aeration and reseeding process due to much unwanted rain. Some greens and tee boxes were in good shape otherwise the others were ok. Fairways were mediocre but they are in the process of repairs. Green fees were okay but charged sales tax, a first for this course. Nice bar and beer and hot dogs were great. Staff very friendly and so cooperative.

Only got in 8 holes.. the horn blew when we were on 9

The fairways were burned out and dirt packed in many locations.

The greens were fine, but since Mercer Oaks also has an East course, there is no way anyone should play the West.

The layout is fine and one of the guys in our group said he was shocked at the conditions. He has played it before and said it was in great shape.

After the heavy rains hit there was no way the course could have been playable.

I’m sure muddy fairways would have been the norm

We played on Sunday for $37 dollars. The layout is enjoyable. The conditions were very poor. They did warn us on the website and with a sign hanging on the door. But to charge $37 for those conditions was a joke!! They should have paid us to play. Come back next year !

Last time I played this course, it was really nice. Today, not so much. Many of the fairways were burned out with very little grass. The tees were not good. The greens were OK but slow. I understand that they have to water a lot because of the extreme heat we have had, but the course is worse than many courses around. Lots of crabgrass. Definitely not worth the price. The pro shop lady had no personality and the starter put a group ahead of us that was supposed to be behind us, and he was a jerk about it. Then he was talking loudly with someone while we were trying to tee off. I am also a bit upset with Golfnow for not letting us know about the true conditions of the course. I would have enjoyed another one. It is definitely not 4 stars. A good thing -There was good, cold water in the coolers.

It is so obvious how recent rainstorm and hot weather has affected the West course. I've never seen course condition this poor in quite sometimes. Many fairways had no grass with exposed dirt spots everywhere. Greens were no different either. Played at East course the day before and found conditions were good so it was shocking such a contrast between two courses. I have no doubt they will bring back to a condition where they should be. I just hope sooner rather than later.

I hadn't played in three weeks and was looking to get out for a practice round. People are friendly and approachable, not aloof like some courses. The course had been ravaged by a storm the night before, but they did there best to get things cleaned up and ready for play. It was a good round.

Teeboxes in terrible shape. Weeds and long grass to interfere with your tee shot. Greens fair but slow. It’s a shame since the west has a decent design and could have been more enjoyable if conditions were a bit better. Great staff though, everyone very pleasant.

This is one of my favorite courses. It has a great layout with plenty of variety and challenging holes. The greens were in great shape but the fairways and tee boxes were not in good shape in a number of places. I hope that they can get the course back in shape because it’s a gem of a course.

Third time playing this course all good experience from the starter to condition of course (very good) would go back again to play many more times. Recommend it to all.

Saw Hot Deal an hour before early tee time and was able to take advantage of a better rate than I could have gotten with my County ID. With the recent rain course was in great condition and I’ve have played here over100 times over the years.

I had read reviews and heard people talk so I was trying not to have too high expectations while expecting something good. The course exceeded expectations. On a late afternoon weekday the course was not crowded and play was not restricted in pace. The layout was great with no two holes alike with doglegs going both ways and ample fairways. Greens were very smooth but on the slow side so once I adapted to that putting them was really good. It's a little pricey for out of state players but that's where GolfNow Hot Deals comes in to make it more affordable for a PA resident less than an hour away.
