Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course

It was wet and windy after the nor'easter. But the green was fast and true.

I played this course on March 1st. Went out as a twosome on golfnow. Paid $30 each for the round. Got out 10 minutes early as the other twosome that was supposed to join us had not checked in.

The greens had not been whipped nor tended to, but still rolled true. Even with the little dew on those greens I still managed to putt passed the hole as they were faster than I could put my mind to. I did see a few guys out there blowing leaves off the course as that was a plus. Only complaint I can say is that the bunkers weren't tended to at all. I will gladly trade less leaves on course than bunkers raked out anyday...my stupidity led me into the bunkers in the first place.

We were greeted by the players assistant twice throughout our round. Once at the 10th hole as he commented how fast we played the front nine and we should have smoothe sailing for the back nine. We did almost catch up to foursome on 17, didn't ask when they teed off.

Overall, the course was in great shape for March, staff was friendly, and price on golfnow was great. Definitely will be back to check out East Course soon.

Barely able to complete 9 holes, that too with the foresight of the starter who put me on the back 9, instead of a crowded front 9.

Really enjoyed this course. Good, fair layout that rewards accuracy off the tee. Greens were super quick for this time of year. Some tough par 3’s on back 9and a few nice finishing holes. Without doubt one of the best public courses I’ve played in the area. Back sticks in the wind would be a good test for low handicapper!

You are taking a chance with the weather, when you have to book Three days in advance.

The course is immaculate. Laid out to challenge and still be playable for the average golfer. Bunkers well placed and you must work the ball throughout the 18.. staff is soo friendly and helpful it just doesn't get any better!!!

Mercer West always gives me the charge I need to go out and play a decent round of golf. Some courses I play it is a money thing, but I play Mercer Oaks for the love of the game. I'm rarely disappointed with the condition of the course, but I did have 1 issue this time. PLEAS FELLOW GOLFERS FIX THE BALL MARKS ON THE GREENS THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GROUNDS AND MAINTENANCE CREW, IT IS OURS.

For a county course, this course rates at par or even better than many other courses in the area. Best attribute is their friendly staff.

Ahh-- Finally got to play my favorite course. Only negative I can say is Mercer Oaks is usually out of my price range. Not that it's not worthy of higher prices but for my budget it's usually too high during peak hours. I also enjoy both the East and West equally because I think they offer different challenges. If you get a chance to play this course do it and you won't be disappointed.

I am writing this review to let people know that there are two driving ranges there, one grass one matt. They don't have the grass open regularly, and as a matter of fact it seems like it has been closed for over a month and I was told don't expect it to be open the rest of he year.

I have gone there on schedule grass days to find out it is closed and was told I should have called ahead as they update the voice mail under current course conditions. Well the next time Incalled no mention got there grass closed.

This is unacceptable to have sporatic practice areas

It's been a quite a few years since I played here. It won't be next time. This is a fun, good condition course with interesting green complexes. Favorites were #9, par 4 with approach over the pond. And #17, long par 4 with lake fronting the right side. A real risk reward approach shot.

I look for this on Golf Now Hot Deal all the time. From the moment you enter the parking lot you know that this is a well maintained course. When you enter to check in the Pro Shop staff is awesome and the variety of all your golf needs are present. The entire facility is spotless including bathrooms. Outside the Driving range, putting and chipping areas ae all well maintained. The snack bar is exceptional as well as sandwiches and hot. The best for last is the course, tee boxes, fairways, sand traps and greens are all in amazing shape which is why beyond a shadow of a doubt for me is the best Hot Deal in Central NJ!!

Both courses are in excellent conditions (East and West) staff staff is very helpful and courteous. Got out on time with no problem the pace of play was great especially week end (Sunday)

As usual even in rain I had a pleasant round at Mercer. Always one of my favorites. There prices have gone up so luckily I had some reward points to use towards my reservation. Grass in the rough needs to be cut, I understand keeping it higher but 6" is a little too much. I would always recommend this course to everybody, but keep your eyes on your ball because 3 feet in the rough and your in 6 inches of grass.
