Reviews
Narrow fairways.
Very nice course but if you can't drive straight it's going to be a long day. Any move movement on the ball left or right is going to end up in the woods.
tree lined fairways narrow
Always a good course to play. Greens improved from earlier in the year but could be better. lazy people should fix their ball marks. friendly staff
Greens
Everything was fine except the greens are diseased. Hope they come back soon probably won't play there until they do
great day
had a great day there.partnered up with another guy and had a very good round and fell in love with the cart girl, great personality.will play there again. just hope they can fix the greens seems to have a fungus.
hidden gem in Long Island
Links & Woods are next to each other, both course are well keep & challenge. Personally like the link a little bit more, the greens are much smoother. they also have replay discount, spend your whole day for both courses.
Tree lined golf course with perfect fairways
This is one of my favorite golf courses on the eastern end of Long Island. It requires straight drives or layup shots for a proper approach shot.
The turnaround has a refreshment stand that is always open! There is always a pleasant woman ready to make an outstanding sandwich and serve you.
There are a few water shots. The second hole is a par 3 over water. Going a bit long will never hurt .
At the end of your round stop at the restaurant. The food is fantastic! The restaurant has the normal golfing food plus fine food. Try the muscles fradiavlo!
The bar has some craft beer on tap too.
The Course is privately owned and you can tell the family cares about the golfers experience . Thank You!
Conditions not good !
I have played this track many times over the years. The maintenance here is really bad. The bunkers have not been shaped or re-sanded in forever, the greens have a bad fungus on them and where there used to be ropes to keep carts from driving near the greens is now tire tracks.
The cups were all rounded over from not being changed and there were lots of un-repaired ball marks on the greens.
On the plus side, the employees there are very nice and the pace was good. Fairways were OK.
Creek Creek The Woods
The Course is very tight! Some holes you can't use your driver, You have to use your 3 wood. The par 5s are short and fun to get on in 2. Greens are better at the woods than the Links. Greens are slow. You have to bring the putter back more. Staff is great and helpful to play your best round. You have to hit the ball straight and don't spray in the trees. Woods is shorter than the Links in yardage. I will be back!
Keep it between the trees
Success at the Woods requires keeping your shots on course and out of the trees. An enjoyable challenge.
Worth taking the opportunity to play a round at The Woods.
Bowling ally/ need Wide fairways
Course is great shape, rough is very thick and healthy. The fairways could be cut wider. The tree lines on both sides are the real hazard on the Woods. Not playing a U S OPEN course here some fairways only 20 yards wide. Many times just had to hit 9 iron back to fairway.. Over all THE WOODS at Cherry Creek outstanding public course on Long Island.
Don't stray off Fairways
As a first time player at The Woods I was unfamiliar with the lay of the land. I'll be better prepared next time. First, hit it straight. The first cut off the fairway is deep. A lush 4 inches deep. You'll need an extra club. The greens and fairways were in good shape. Finished round in just over 3 hours. I'll be back.
Maintenance crew
Great course. Maintenance crew have zero golf etiquette. Teeing off on 13th hole, the knucklehead cutting the tee box never stopped mowing and the guy on tractor crossed fairway 150 yards out while I teed off on 9th hole..... the dope doesn't even look or wear a helmet.
OMG
I hate to say it because I will probably never have this experience angain but I am a fair person so,..... played Sat. Morning @ 9:08am ( this was the morning after the sky opened On NY ) and the course drained exceptionally well allowing for a 3 hr round finishing at 10;30am. Mind you we were two, but I dare to ask if this could ever happen at Bethpage. You all know what I mean. See you all st Cherry Creek my friends.
