Best public course in Eastern PA, by far...
I have been waiting to play this course all year because of the great things I heard about the course. My friends and I have played a different course every Saturday in and around the Lehigh Valley this year and this one was by far the best. Totally worth the drive, superb conditions, great staff, awesome scenery and very challenging(fast greens/fairway bunkers). You do not see another fairway other than the one your on through 18 holes. The only thing is that you do not want to use the GPS to get there. You will end up a half an hour away. The key at this place is to not let your ego get the best of you..the ball will roll so club down and hit it straight. So, basically I was there on a sat. morning was not rushed, good pace, no idiots or unreasonable asking of a 3 1/2 hour round. It was a pleasure and will continue to go back. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place.
fantastic course fun to play and in great condition
this has got to be the nicest course in the Poconos. For a mountain course it has wide landing areas beautiful greens and a very friendly staff. I would recommend it highly
Beautiful Course Great Condition
Played last Sunday 9/23, second time playing here. Course is in great condition and holes are challenging, yet fair. Greens are fast, but the hold extremely well. Many elevation changes while still manageable. I belong to a traditional Philadelphia club, so this is a refreshing change of pace. We've played many courses in the Poconos and by far this is my favorite.
Very challenging greens. Great value for the money.
Tee boxes are perfect. Nice and level with very tight turf. Fairways are nearly perfect, Greens can be very difficult, and keep an eye on the grain because it plays a big part on these very tricky greens. Pin placements were very challenging. Highly recommend.
Super fast greens...Best course in the Poconos
A must play..Great greens, very challenging..Geat value ay $45.
A Must Play Course in the Poconos
I drove 1.5 hours to get to this course and I'm really glad I did! From tee to green, this is one of the best maintained public course I've ever seen with some of the best putting greens. Since this course is carved out of the forest, every hole is isolated and surrounded by trees, which is a great experience that you can't get at most golf courses. This also means the architects could afford to make every hole unique and memorable. Wide, generous fairways translate into forgiving drives but still places a premium on shot making. Overall it's a great test of your game without feeling over-penalizing. If playing for the first time, I highly suggest "teeing it forward" to maximize your enjoyment.
The super friendly staff here deserve some special mention. As soon as I parked my car, a cart boy pulled up and placed my bag on the cart with a warm greeting and general directions of the practice range and the first tee. The staff at the pro shop made me feel very welcome upon arrival and highlighted the greatly discounted merchandise. The starter at the first tee spoke to us with enthusiasm and genuine love for the course and the game.
I suppose the fall foliage be spectacular here around early October and I would love to make the trip again.
Play Jack Frost before the frost comes!
This has got to be one of the nicest courses I've played all year. The greens & fairways were well kept and the t boxes were level and well groomed. The staff really helped us save some money too! We'll definitely go back this year before winter hits - you should too!
pretty
Played this course on the recommendation of someone who works at an area golf course who also recommended Mt Airy.
The scorecard really gave no direction on where you were going, no ball washers, no beverage service on a Friday afternoon.
Many blind shots for first time golfer there, fast greens. Not really sure if I would pay $75 to play here again on a normal day
Worth the hour drive
I live in hunterdon county and this is the nicest course i ve played within an hour drive. trophy course. conditions were perfect, fast greens, tee to green prof. maintained and a reasonable price. If this course was in NJ it would be $125. Better than royce brook, architects. For a "mountain" course not hilly, not alot of blind shots and generous fairways. Amenities not great but the course, pace, and conditions more than make up.
Great course great views plenty of challenge
Great course, with a great layout. Plenty of challenge for all levels of players as there are 5 sets of tee's.
The tee's, fairways and greens were all in great shape. The bunkers are filled with fine sand.
Good enough practice facility with putting, chipping and iron/wood tee box area.
The putting green was not indicative of the course greens, the course greens were somewhat slower than the practice green..
You'll use all the clubs in your bag playing this course.
You'll also enjoy some great views.
Very nice course
So good golfed here 2x in 3 days on vacation.Course was in great shape and a excellent value at $35 before 7am. Will definitely play again.
A hands down Must Play
Played this course on 7-8-13 and hands down, one of the best public courses I ever played. From tee box to green this course is MINT. Played from the whites/membership tee's which is around 6200 yards. The greens on this day were perfect and were rolling about an 8 on the meter. The club pro told us that they are usually rolling about an 11. If you want to score on these greens, you got to hit it close and bring your (A-Game) with your putter or they will pile the strokes on you. Fairways are well maintained and offer generous landing areas along with clearly marked yardages on cart paths and sprinkler heads. This is a must play for any golfer who wants to be tested, or is just tired of beating the same old 18 holes they have been playing. A great staff, good food and an excellent golf course. I will definitely go back.
Excellent in every way
This is a new course that improves every year. It is beautifully maintained with the friendliest and most helpful staff around. In order to enhance your experience, "tee it forward". I am a 19 handicap and play from the green tees and use all the clubs in my bag. If I am feeling like my game is very good I might then play from the whites. I have found no added enjoyment playing from the longer tees only disappointment. This is a true mountain course with forced carries, elevation changes and great vistas. Check out their "Frequent Fairways" membership for range and practice facility use and substantial afternoon discounts. Just a gem.
Winner in the Poconos
Great course! It is long but with a variety of tee options there is a length for everyone. I thought the par 3's were great and a very good challenge as we're the rest of the holes! Can't say enough good things about the staff, very friendly from when we arrived until we left. Course was in very good shape and green were smooth and rolling very nicely (I would say close to am 11 on the stimp). Practice area is grass with a small short game green and bunker as well as a large putting green to warmup, they even have a short game range with targets. Good selection in the shop. With a course like this they need a club house that compliments it but I guess that is coming eventually and what they have serves a purpose now. I will be back! Beer was ICE cold :)
good course with a nice selection of tee boxs to challenge all golfers..
I like the layout of the course. You can play a couple tee's so you get to hit more clubs in the bag without losing all your golf balls. The tips at 7200 and change are a bit too much for me but the black tee' s at 6700 are a nice challenge. T box's are in great shape along with the greens and fairways. Pretty nice range and practice area also.
Decent layout, but somehwhat overpriced
This course layout is as long as it gets—7,250 from the tips, if you're feeling confident. Overall, a decent round but a bit of a stretch for a $75 in-season greens fee (with cart). Oh, and the clubhouse is just a modular building—odd.
A hidden Gem
Very nice layout, no bad lies in fairway or first cut. T boxes nice and even and very well maintained. Greens are fast so you need to be on your putting game.
Challenging course with lots of great views and elevation changes.
I've always really enjoyed playing this course. The scenery is great and with all of the elevation changes that are built into it , it's always a challenge - particularly if it's wet and/or windy. They had aerated some of the fairways shortly before I played on this particular occasion (which is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5), which does take away from the experience, but I can overlook this because I really do love this course and know what it's like at its very best.
Excellent golf couse.
Jack frost is 1st class golf couse of about 100 courses I have played.
Love the course
Played here several times the past two years and really love going there. The course is always in very good condition and some of the views are great. Except for #9, long uphill par 5 all the other holes are playable. I'm not the best golfer and have lost some balls there but it's not by course design it's by stupid shots!
Play it and you'll be back!
