Wilkes-Barre Golf Club

Nicely maintained course. They try very hard to keep the leaves off the greens and fairways but with fall golf it’s lose a ball find a ball. The pace was good and with 65 degrees and sunny what could be wrong !

So I’m no stranger this place played it hundreds of times over the years but was out of the area and just recently moved back so probably hadn’t been there in 30 years. It doesn’t disappoint. It’s a really solid layout. The only odd hole is 18. It’s not a bad par four it’s just kind of an odd finishing hole anyhow really really interesting and good layout for public golf. The price is right. It’s a bargain. The only thing I would say is that it gets very very wet and the rough is really high. It’s next to impossible to find balls that are off the fairway so you know understand what you’re getting for your dollar I highly recommend the place.

The course is in great condition. The weather was 65 and sunny, we never had to wait to tee off, the fall foliage was spectacular!! Perfect day for golf !!

A great course with a great design. I've played it since the early nineteen seventies. After its first decade of existence and due to insufficient funding , it wasn't maintained as well as it was initially. However, since the last year when it seen a boost from the municipality, it harkens back to those early years of greatness.

Course is in great shape. We almost had the course to ourselves. A little cool to start but a great day.

Perfect weather, beautiful course, greens a little bumpy, a great round of golf !!

The conditions were great and on a Tuesday afternoon we had the place to ourselves !!

Reservations were good early morning rain course soggy we were instructed car path only and otherwise course was in good shape.

This is a fun and beautiful course with a layout that requires all of your clubs

This course does nearly everything right. And it's an excellent layout with a good mix of easy and challenging holes. Staff is super nice and it's a good value.

2 primary negative issues:

Pace of play can be ridiculously slow. There are no rangers and the bulk of players there do not care about a reasonable pace of play. If you don't mind people with little regard for their fellow golfers and waiting on every shot, it's a good good option.

Course conditions are suspect. This course, in good shape, would be all you could ask for. Unfortunately, it's no that.

Side note. They let out singles and 2somes and don't pair anybody up. 2 groups yesterday decided to play a scramble and ruined the pace of play for everyone else. Slower groups, at least in our experience, either do not know about letting faster groups through or they just don't care.

And, this course, for whatever reason, maybe because it's not expensive, attracts a lot of horrible golfers. I mean bad, like they never played before. Painful to watch.

Course is great layout, well designed. On this day the greens needed to be rolled smoother. However the heavy recent downpours may have been the reason. A course marshal could be used for the slow play on a Monday.

The course is in great condition, the pace was perfect, the staff is professional and friendly. The weather was perfect. What more could anyone ask for !! We had a wonderful day.

Beautiful course with open fairways and challenging hole designs. It was a little slow but it was the first hot day of the season.
