Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are played in three 18-hole combinations. The three different nines are natural named Blue, Ridge, and Trail. Tucked away in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania, the golf courses provide stunning scenery and views. All of the holes were carefully carved from the surrounding woodlands and molded into the hillsides. An abundance of trees characterizes the course, giving all of the holes a secluded feel that is further enhanced by the design, which doesn't feature any parallel fairways. The Trail/Blue Course combines the shortest and longest nines but both are considered slightly more challenging than the Ridge nine. The Trail nine possesses two of the four water holes at the club. There is a combination for every skill level and four sets of tees make the nines even more accommodating.

Quality golf course

Played here for the first time on 4/11/19 and was pleasantly surprised. Started out with brand new golf carts equipped with a state of the art GPS system. Really nice set up made playing seamless.

The staff is great and you can place your food orders on the touch screen system as you approach the turn around. Also has 3 great 9 hole courses to pick from.

Returned the next day to play again!!!

Great condition, perfect weather

For an early spring round, the course was in great shape as the greens were smooth and there were very few wet spots. Pace of play could have been a bit better but 4:30 hours isn't terrible. Would definitely recommend going here as it's a great value for a solid golf course.

Early Spring Golf

We drove 6.5 Hours to get here and it is worth the travel. The staff is friendly and the golf course getting ready for the late spring/early summer conditions. We had a great day and enjoyed at every tee box .

Greens not the best

slightly disappointed with the condition of most of the greens. Pro shop said they had issues after the winter and the greens did not come back. THere is also construction for a gas line going on with makes for a temporary tee box and shorter hole.

Staff friendly and pace good on a week day.

great weather, great course, great day

My wife and I decided to go to PA for a few days and play golf and stop at a winery. I read reviews on the course and decided it was worth a try. Very good choice as the course was fun and the staff was excellent. We slowed down at our 10th hole and joined a regular twosome. Bob and Ron were fun to play with and helped with their course tips. Really enjoyed this course. Try it, you will like it!

Woman Friendly busy course

BRT is 3 nines which allows them to balance the number of players on each of the nines. The round always feels fresh because of the many combinations of playing 18 holes. It was very wet, having rained in the morning but only a few holes had to be cart path only. My husband and I like to go out as a twosome and we most often are able to do so. The gps is great for knowing where other players are as well as giving you the distance to the pin. Everyone is super friendly from check in to the restaurant and bar.

Great course

Really nice course and all 3 nines are very different but nice and fun. Nice looks and well cared for greens. Ridge is my favorite 9 because you feel like you are alone on every hole as you can't see any other hole. Because it is one of the nicest courses in the area it can get crowded in the early afternoon but usually the pace of play is good.

road trip must

We took a road trip from Philly to play Blue Ridge Trail on Labor Day. Had heard really good things about the course and what a great value it was. They run a very nice operation at Blue Ridge. You are met at your car and the bags are loaded onto your cart right away. We were told we would be playing the Trail 9 then the Blue 9 and that the Trail 9 had aerated greens the Blue 9 had pristine greens. The course was in nice condition and the Trail 9 greens were ok. The greens on the Blue 9 were as advertised...firm, fast and manicured beautifully. The course bunkering is beautiful and the course winds through the woods to each perfectly framed private hole. Most holes you'll have to drive it over protected wetlands and its an easy carry from the regular men's white tees. If you have game and can play it back its a real good challenge. The views on the last holes of the Blue 9 are spectacular. The carts are equipped with a very good GPS system which really helps. We played for 38 dollars which is a terrific value for a course of this caliber. If you have not taken the trip to play here, by all means do it on a sunny day when you'll really enjoy this special treat of golf.

Pace of Play

Pace of play today was horrendous. Five hours to play 18 holes doesn't sound bad but a 10 minute wait on every tee box is ridiculous. Also we were rushed on the range because we were told the tee was open. When we drove to the first tee there was a group on the tee box and a group on the fairway. Course was in great shape as always. Website said $34 if you booked you tee time online we were charged $38. This is the worst experience I have ever had at this golf course. No rangers seen all day to move the 2 slow groups in front of us.

Very nice facility, tough courses

Overall, Blue Ridge is one of the nicest golf courses/facilities in the Scranton/WB area. With that said, it is a very difficult course imo. Especially for high handicappers. When it's dry like it's been it can be brutally difficult. There is very little room for error on several holes. You're pretty much in the fairway, in a fairway bunker or in the woods. Some of the fairways are off camber (dogleg right, fairway slopes left) which means hitting them does not always mean you're in the clear. Level lies are going to hard to find so get use to hitting the ball above and below your feet. Also, several green complexes have steep drop offs so if you're not on you game with approach shots expect to struggle. The bunkers are filled with very course sand. As a result splash shots near the greens are nearly impossible. I liked this sand for the fairway bunkers but really struggled trying to play from ones near the green.

Conditions were solid overall. The greens were in excellent shape with very few ball marks. The tee boxes were also in great shape. The fairways were in pretty good shape. They were a little thin and brown in areas due to it being a little dry lately.

I played the Ridge/Trail combo and liked the Ridge quite a bit better. Still, the Trail 9 was nice as well. If you're in the area you should play here. However, I don't think it's a place I'd play over and over due to the difficulty of the place. Jack Frost is a similar type course but with a better layout....

Can't believe we haven't heard about this course!

Love golf courses where you get on the tee and see only your fairway....no other fairways...no houses...you are away from it all.

Every hole is different. Conditions were better than some private clubs we have recently played.

Coming from NJ the greens fees are so reasonable.

If you are in the area...or if you love great golf...go give it a try. Took us 2 hours to get here...but we will be back!!!

Great course for the price

I play BRT a few times a year. The course is always in great shape. The fairways are medium width and the ball sits up nicely in them. Play from the correct tees the don't stray to far left or right. There is plenty of tree trouble in this course that winds through the woods. There is a few forced carries over water and wetlands and the course has plenty of elevation change from tee to green. The greens hold shots and roll at a very nice pace. The GPS on the carts is great because there is plenty of fairway and greenside bunkers that you need to know the distances to. Take the trip to this course.

Best in PA? Not by a long shot.

I play here at least 3 or 4 times a year. The 27 hole lay out is very nice. The course was in good shape, the greens were firm but fair and the fairways were very playable.

Unfortunately the pace of play here is awful. The reason for this is simple, the General Manager. This particular day I was playing in a charity outing. The General Manager booked two outing on the same day! If that wasn't bad enough he crammed paying golfers on the unused 9 and in between the outing! Our outing was delayed because all the carts were out on the course.

What really was disappointing about the General Manager was his love of using the PA system. Yes the course has a very loud PA System. This guy would not shut up over the loud speaker. Every 30 seconds, all you would hear was "Bill, please come to the principal's office!" It is very childish and stupid.

As for the "Top course in Pennsylvania" nonsense. There is no way this course is better than the following PA Courses:

1) Merion

2) Oakmont

3) Aronimink

4) Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wisshickon)

5) Stonewall

....and many more

These 5 courses have hosted USGA and/or PGA tournaments. Blue Ridge is a nice course but is nowhere near the caliber of the above courses.

Don't forget to ask the General Manager why it took you 5.5 hours to finish a round at Blue Ridge. You will probably hear "I can't turn down a dollar!"

Always a great play

BRT is one of those courses you just keep coming back to. We live an hour north and usually make it down a couple times in the early spring and late fall, when the temps are a few degrees warmer than up home. This is 27 hole facility. (Blue 9, Ridge 9 and Trail 9 - get it?). This is target mountain golf at its finest, where straight wins the day. Don't expect to put up career low numbers here. Par is like birdie on many holes. The electric, GPS equipped carts are very nice, though I do wish they'd go with an overhead system, as the current one blocks the cupholders. The course layout is competent and challenging and the conditions are always top notch. The sand is course and grainy, but lacks the shale that plagues many courses in NE PA. The clubhouse is solid and the food and drink prices are reasonable. Staff is generally cordial to nice. People come from NJ to play this course, so you know its worth the trip.

Fast and tricky Greens!

A great course to play! On our way home from Ocean City and after playing relatively flat courses this course was a pleasant change. We were warned about the fast greens by the very welcoming starter and pro shop staff but we still had to get used to the speed and slope (often optical illusions that seemed to show slope uphill!). the greens were large and undulating but in great shape considering it was November. Lots of great vistas from tee boxes. We played Blue and Ridge nines from the whites which was quite challenging but fair for 70 year olds.

Best public course around!

I think that this is the nicest public course in the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton area. The condition of this course is top notch. The fairways are always nice and the greens are pure. Most of the holes have nice wide fairways. Lots of hazards to challenge more experienced players. 27 holes means you're not going to get bored of the same 18. And compared to Philly and the suburbs what they charge here is a steal.

Excellent value. Great personnel.

This course is a three distinct 9 hole layout. Very scenic, well maintained. Some real challenging bunkers at most holes. This place is a gem. Rate for a 10:16 tee time was only about $40.00 with cart. Can not be beat. The extraordinary part of this day was actually the personnel. Everyone was professional, very friendly and helpful. I could not be more impressed.
