Morgan Hill Golf Course
About
The Morgan Hill Golf Course in Easton has a somewhat misleading name since you'll find more than just hills on this challenging course. Be prepared to face a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. The golf course has a dramatic design that is carved into a hillside, which makes it a hard course to walk but one that is visually interesting and tough to play. It may not be a layout for the faint of heart but the scenery alone is enough to provide enjoyment. Golfers can enjoy scenic views of the river, but scenic respite is the only break you'll get. There is hardly an even lie to be found and the severely undulating greens will test even the most seasoned golfers. Also, be prepared for a slew of blind shots at Morgan Hill Golf Course.

Difficult course in bad shape
Was very unhappy with the coarse conditions. From fairway to greens. The coarse has potential to be one of the best coarses in the area if taken care of better. Possibly the epidemic was a factor.
Lots & Lots
First time playing this course as I met a friend coming from the other direction.
Lots of immaculate course conditions. Lots of wonderful views from the top of the hill to the city and river below. Lots of nicely contoured holes. LOTS of steep slopes in all directions.
Also lots of downhill par threes where you have to guess at club selection and probably changes each time with wind conditions which were minimal, fortunately for my round. Lots of tricky pin locations although the greens themselves have little undulations or breaks.
Also lots of thick (but moderate length) rough and LOTS of blind shots, either from the shot location or target. Put those two together and finding a ball just in the rough off the fairway or green was not easy at times.
Also lots of strange bounces and roll-outs due to lots of angled ridges in fairways and around bunkers. And lots of grass bunkers in the middle of fairways as well. So you can hit a good shot and end up with a bad result. Oh, and lots of uneven stances even in the middle of fairways at time.
Quite a challenging course for a first time and I assume in windy conditions as well, even with wide fairways and nice-sized greens. The uphill holes are very steep and play extra long and watch out for downhill shots that go too far.
Nice Course, Friendly staff
Given the environment, the course was in great shape. Beware the back 9 extreme hilly many holes where the drive position is key. Tee boxes in excellent shape. Good quality food available by pre-ordering. Bunkers deep stay out. This course is not for rookies. Drink cart makes the rounds and drink cart roams the course. Pace of play affected by walking half the time. Staff extremely friendly.
Beautiful and Challenging
Course is beautiful and in great shape. Be prepared to be challenged on and around the greens. We will definitely play again.
What views
We were running late.. bad gps directions and starter was very understanding as was the gentleman in the pro shop. Elevation changes stunning. Tee boxes a little beat up and greens were a bit slow but overall the course was in good shape. We drove 45 minutes from NJ and will definitely be back
Be Prepared
Very difficult course from any set of tees due to the drastic elevation changes and wind you will encounter on most holes. Buts that’s exactly why I love this course. It’s the ultimate challenge and the views are breathtaking. My advice is pick one set of tees less than you normally play from because, for example, 6000 yards is really closer to 6800-7000. The only problem right now is the greens. They are exceedingly slow due to recent aeration.
Challenging but fun course
Course has lots of hills which makes for blind shots and very challenging. But it is a fun and beautiful course. Unfortunately they had aerated the greens and they were extremely slow!! Will definitely play again in the future.
1st Round This Year at Morgan Hill
My son and I play Morgan Hill 4-5 times a year. This was the first time playing in 2020. Tee times were spaced 15 minutes apart to adhere to social distancing requirements. This helped with pace of play. We played in 4:20. Should’ve been well under 4 hours but we played with two elderly gentlemen who couldn’t have played any quicker. This course very hilly and is difficult getting to and from green complex areas. Even in a cart, it is a workout.
The greens have been aerated within the past few weeks. I did not notice a reference to this on GN but I could’ve missed it. It’s hard to get tee times in this area so I was just excited to be able to play somewhere. The greens rolled ok but they were VERY slow. I’d guess a 7 at best on the Stimp. The greens need to be rolled and cut some of the bunkers need attention. There are two bunkers on the 7 th hole that are unplayable unless you want to ruin a club. Full of rocks and dirt.
The tee boxes, Fairways and Rough are in pretty good shape for this time of year. We’re finally getting some warm weather and the grass is starting to really pop. I suspect they will be in very good condition within the next couple of weeks.
As I mentioned earlier, this course is very hilly and is difficult. It is not recommended for for anyone above bogey golfer. It will not be an enjoyable experience. Many of the holes play much longer than the yardage. 16 for example is 387 from the green (back) tee markers bitnyounarendrivingninto a slight uphill that will leave about 160 yards( for someone who drives it 240-250 ) to an uphill green that adds two clubs to the shot. I’m a high single digit handicapper and I rarely break 80 on this now par 71 course.
One major bummer is club has been forced to shorten what was the par 5 13th into a par 4. There is a house on the left hand side that filed a suit against the club forcing the change. I actually did not know there is a house on the left off the tee. You really need to look for it. If this house got hit twice during a season, that would be a lot. It would take an extremely hard duck hook to come near the house and then it would have to get through a forest of trees to hit it. Absolutely absurd! This was one of the best holes on the course, especially after they removed some ridiculous bunkers from the middle of the fairway. I think was a fun and challenging par 5. It’s still a good hole as a difficult par 4.
The reason for my low rating on conditions is due to the greens and bunkering. If the green speeds were a couple feet quicker, I’d have rated this course a 4. To get any higher than that, they would need to renovate all the bunkers. Net is this is a fun but challenging track for the more established golfers. High handicappers will be challenged and probably feel beat up after a round here.
I did not use any off course amenities. We did see the Cart girl a few times during the round. There is a halfway house that was open between the 9th and 10th holes which Is a hole away from the clubhouse. I only interacted with the starter who was very friendly and helpful getting us out on time.
Great day to play golf. Very scenic course, course is in great shape. Its true greens are sandy and have been aerated recently. First time playing today and will be back.
So disappointed
Greens were aerated, no mention when booking . Only bathrooms were two portable ones by the cart return and both were disturbingly dirty and full. I always enjoy playing here but won’t be returning. Over charged for a course with no restrooms and unplayable greens.
disappointed
I have played here 3-4 times and it is a beautiful course. Today I was extremely disappointed. After being closed for at least 6 weeks due to the coronavirus I thought the course would be in great shape. But the tee boxes were all chopped up and the greens were dreadful. Every green was newly aerated, bumpy and sandy. Why? They had 6 weeks to take care of this. I thought it was a waste of money and a wasted day.
Challenging and Scenic
Each hole offers a unique challenge. Very hilly with spectacular views. Many blind shots. I drove an hour to play this course and intend to return. Great value at $40 (With cart) on golfnow.
