Morgan Hill Golf Course
About
The Morgan Hill Golf Course in Easton has a somewhat misleading name since you'll find more than just hills on this challenging course. Be prepared to face a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. The golf course has a dramatic design that is carved into a hillside, which makes it a hard course to walk but one that is visually interesting and tough to play. It may not be a layout for the faint of heart but the scenery alone is enough to provide enjoyment. Golfers can enjoy scenic views of the river, but scenic respite is the only break you'll get. There is hardly an even lie to be found and the severely undulating greens will test even the most seasoned golfers. Also, be prepared for a slew of blind shots at Morgan Hill Golf Course.

Golfer Reviews
Not worth the drive
From reading reviews I was prepared for the hills/mountain, however I was not prepared for over half the course to be under construction. Playing on a Saturday morning and paying the top rate, I do not expect to have to deal with the maintenance crew aerating/tilling fairways during play, but that was the case today. Worse yet was the maintenance guy tearing up the fairway did not seem to care that paying golfers were waiting on him. 6 of the 9 back nine fairways had at least 40% of the fairways as ground under repair due to them being tilled/aerated. A simple heads up at check-in or better yet on the course website to alert before making tee times would have been nice. Don't think I need to make the drive again.
Great course and facility
Only downside was pace of play, course was overbooked on a Sunday morning with 2 outings and normal tee times. Course and facility are worth the drive.
Norman, 2015 we have seen some great changes to the golf course. In looking at the tee sheet for Sunday and when seeing groups of 12 or more some customers will react as if an outing was booked. I just tell customers that tee times are only available on weekends but some tee times can be groups of 12-16 players and they are waiting on there tee times like everyone else. Having been in the business since 1987 this is typically the comment i get when players check in. No outings were booked for Sunday but this time of year we do get some morning fog and that will play into tee times. Saturday morning we had fog setting in on the course until 9am. The course again was not booked for Outings on Sunday and we apologize if you feel this way.
Bring your A game
The staff, conditions, and overall experience at Morgan Hill remains exemplary. It is a challenge, but if you're smart And your game is on point you will enjoy it, even though it is very difficult to score there.
will give them a mulligan
Was told that back 9 would be not be available to play due to some course changes and chemicals and had to play the front 9 twice. Back 9 is much more challenging but, enjoy this course and such a perfect day to play I didn't mind until, we came off of 9 to begin the play on front 9 again. Since they did not cancel tee times, we were now behind people just teeing off and that happened to not be very good and from observations on the first hole, were hitting there balls about 6-10 feet each shot. Was easily going to be 3 hours+ to play front 9 again so we went in to tell person at desk who gave us each a rain check for 9 holes. Fair deal from my perspective, will certainly go back to MH, challenging especially when you play other courses after.
Scenic challenging course
Course is in great shape! Very hilly and you won't get any flat lies. Great deal for the money
gimmicky course
I have played just about every course in the LV, this is one of the worst. first off, it's super gimmicky - set on huge hills, with dramatically undulating greens. the tees boxes were not all there and those that were, were not the yardages on the scorecard. there is a ton of crabgrass. the carts have no speed governor and the hills make this a huge liability...due to the lack of governor and the hills, the brakes barely worked on the cart. granted the vistas are nice, but when a hole's elevation change is more than the total yardage, ehh....not a realistic hole. I saw no ranger monitoring pace of play & on 16 there were 5 groups simultaneously....on a TUESDAY. website says there is a range, but its simple a new to hit into....also, hole 2 is closed for renovations, which nobody mentioned until after we paid. seriously thought i was going to die in that cart. also, they are not handicap friendly...no HC flags and with the immense hills, it's nearly impossible to get to certain areas of the course in a cart....I'm a 14 handicap and I thought the course rating was somewhat accurate, so there is that. once again, the main issue is that the course is gimmicky, any decent golfer will see that...not going back.
Sir, first i would like to say i am sorry about your day. Reading your review puzzles me. I am the Director of golf and have been here now 3 years. Our carts are brand new and never have had brake issues. Our cart fleet is inspected ever Thursday and every cart is inspected. As for the condition of the golf course it is one of the best in the state and has always had that reputation. this is the first comment i have seen on condition and it shocks me. As for the ranger, i personally was out on the golf course that day and know the pace has been perfect the entire season. How do i know the pace has been perfect is with the NEW GPS installed on all of the carts that show pace for ever day as well as the pace for each individual cart. As for handicap flags we have made great improvements to allow carts closer to the greens since we have opened in 2004. We have added 5 new cart paths in the past year alone. As for the gimmicky golf course people don't realize elevation changes have a tremendous effect on yardage. This is what makes a true golf course fun. Again i am sorry for your day but will defend the beauty of this golf course as well as the conditions over any golf course.

Worth playing...
Pace of play states 4:30 hours and we finished in about 5, got held up on back 9 a few times but no real issue with that.
I was a little disappointed in the quality of the course. I went in thinking it would be pristine but some of the fairways were a little beat up (not terrible). The greens were awesome and even though most have lots of elevation changes, none all that sudden so as long as you get on the right level, putting didn't prove too difficult.
The scenery is outstanding but makes for a challenging time. This was only my 9th round ever so don't let inexperience deter you. I had a blast and played maybe by best round ever (by performance not score). I don't drive the ball far so unless I hooked or sliced it way out of play I didn't have much trouble finding balls. The other two people I played with would have long drives and would end up losing balls because of all the hills as they couldn't see where it went after teeing off. Blind shots are fine but after awhile they were pretty frustrated because there was so many of them.
Not sure I would go back because it was so physically taxing - the hills made it hard to drive a cart to your ball at times which led to hike up a large incline. Perhaps in the early spring, I'd consider going. The $35 after 2:00 is an absolute steal. I played the day before elsewhere and paid $60 for a pretty ho-hum course. This is anything but and 100% worth checking out regardless of skill level.
My recommendation is to play a round and judge for yourself. It might not be for everyone but for us it led to an enjoyable and memorable afternoon.
It is a very nice course
For the price the course is in great condition. It rained in the morning making it cart path only. This made the course very long to play as well as slowing the pace. Other than that it was a great round.
Great day
I enjoyed the scenic holes, and very well kept course. The greens were a little too undulating for my liking, but rolled true.
Having been the first time for me at this course, there were a few blind shots that left my wondering what was the proper landing yardages, but all in all was a very nice day out.
Trust your yardage
1 1/2 hour ride is worth it at full price but we caught a hot deal and paid half price on a weekend, and this course never fails to impress us, with the elevation changes and fast greens it always makes for an interesting day.
Hill course
It had been raining earlier in the day. The staff would NOT allow the carts off the paths. This course has a lot of steep hills and made it very difficult to walk around. You would make a long walk to your ball only to find yourself in a fairway bunker. Back you go for a different club. Most clubs I have played at play 90 degree rules not stay off the grass every where.
Great Course, Poor Pace of Play
This is a very challenging course with many unique holes that require careful club selection and precise targeting on the extremely sloped fairways. Proper positioning on the greens was also critical because a three putt was always the penalty for poor shot placement. To take your mind of your horrific score, there are spectacular scenic views from many holes.
With the major elevation changes, this is not a course for walkers, and even driving the carts on the sloped fairways was quite a challenge. Many speed bumps on the cart paths help keep the carts at a safe speed on the steep inclines.
This is a great course, but not one for beginners or the faint of heart. Expect to be completely exhausted, and exhilarated, by the end of the round.
My wife and I were paired up with another mixed couple, which was good, but the overall pace of play was quite bad. My wife and I finished in over 5 hrs, and in the dark, and the other couple quit before finishing 18 holes because the play of the groups in front of us was so incredibly slow and we were waiting to hit on almost every shot.
My name is Patrick Mallory and I am the Director of Golf at Morgan Hill. I have spent my entire life around this wonderful game and nothing satisfies me more then to see players enjoy a day of golf. Ownership as well as myself have worked very hard as well as invested in GPS to be able to monitor all the carts for pace of play. We have put two rangers and sometimes three rangers on the golf course on Saturday or Sunday. The difficulty of the course has improved and we will continue to do more improvements in the fall of 2015 to make the course even easier. By monitoring the times i looked at the date you played and did not see a single cart over 5 hours. I am sorry if you felt that way but at No time was any group over 5 hours. I guess you can say technology helps in monitoring pace all day. I would like to apologize if you did not feel you time was satisfactory but i will continue with ownership to make this golf course the best.
Patrick
great place to play
Beautiful place to play. If I have a chance want to play again with all my friends.
A good mental exercise, shot making needed.
Some wonderful hole designs that challenge you to know and pick your shots. Really nice views of the mountains and the course itself. Overall a really good challenge and well kept course, great value.
Negatives: slow play because it is a tougher course. The rough was high and I struggled with it for some reason. Some holes will spank you if you get in the wrong spot, which I did and tripled 2 holes.
The golf cart GPS is the best I've seen, but I'd bought myself a Garmin that had one feature that saved me many shots, their "plays like" feature that provides distances based on elevation changes.
Good practice greens.
Worth playing a few times. Hoping my next trip will be less learning and more scoring. Make the trip and enjoy thinking your way thru.
Pace of play !?$&@<}£*]€
Course is beautiful and in great shape. I and my playing partners (all intermediate golfers) found it very difficult. I called the day before our tee time to inquire if there was a practice range and was told yes. The range consists of about six tee stations and a net about ten feet in front of you! Our tee time was before 9:00 AM and we were informed when we arrived that there was a 25 minute backup! Then we were told that the club would rather have a backup on the first tee than on the course, and that once on the course things move along well and that they strive for a FIVE HOUR PACE OF PLAY!!! If I had known that I never would have booked a tee time here. And it was a five hour round with lots of waiting. It may well be that the course is so difficult as to preclude a faster pace of play. All of us decided that we would never return.
Sir, My name is Patrick Mallory and i am the Director of Golf. I would like for you to call me and discuss your situation that happened that day. In reading your review i just find it difficult to see a backup at 9am in the morning with golfers that i know who played behind you stating they were backed up. As far as a 5 hour round that could not have happened because our GPS statistics show no 5 hour rounds that day. Our GPS posts the time you start as well as the time you finish. This is why this is puzzling me. Could you please contact me at the golf shop to discuss.
Thank you,
Patrick Mallory
Should be called Morgan HillS
Extreme elevation changes tee to green throughout the course. Although it has far more ups and downs than I prefer, the course is interesting and very challenging. (I think the 127 slope (White Tees) is understated.) Some nice views of the Lehigh Valley. Course was in very good condition including the bent grass greens which were medium speed.
Great good deal at $27.
One of the best around!
I absolutely love this course and consider it the best public course in the Lehigh valley. The course demands accuracy and some knowledge due to blind tee shots, but it's very playable. The greens will keep you on your toes for sure, so think about where you are leaving your approach onto the green. Great views and layout, enjoy!
A great course!
Had a great time playing this challenging course. Interesting, beautiful course that will challenge all levels. Tee boxes were in great shape as were putting greens. Spent way too much time in the rough which is easy to do alas! Looking forward to returning. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Fasten your seat belts for this one!
This course is quite an adventure. Every hole has changes in elevation and sloping fairways. Even driving the cart around is a challenge; there are many steep downhill curves and one must pay attention 100% of the time. The course is well-kept and pretty with some lovely scenic views of the Lehigh Valley area. Next time I play this course, I will favor a "course management" strategy vs. "how long can I go."
I would like to apologize for your unfortunate day. As of March we are under new ownership. Since 2004 when the golf course opened feedback was that the golf course was challenging. Ownership as of the spring as well as the professional staff felt that FANTASTIC changes needed to be done to make this course the best in the valley. Timing was an important issue with the changing of some fairways where we will be adding a first cut to some fairways so golf balls would not roll from the fairway into the rough on some of the holes where fairways sloped. This timing had to be done with really no notice because wind plays an important factor with spraying and seeding. Unfortunately this happened when you played your round. The process was split seeding and has to be done at such a crucial time. After 7-10 days seeds will pop and we will have some great looking holes!!! We understand your frustration and want you to know that the next time you visit the club the results will be OUTSTANDING!!!!!! Again the staff at Morgan Hill would like to apologize.
