The 500 Club

About
Nestled in the foothills of the Thunderbird Mountains, the 500 Club is a championship length course in a beautiful desert landscape, offering scenic mountain views in the distance. The course was built on natural, rolling terrain with subtle contours in the greens and mounding. There are some elevated tees on the course as well as water hazards that come into play on six holes. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 finishing hole. This notable hole has trees in the landing area as well as water along the right side of the fairway. There is also a nine-hole course at the 500 Club facility.

Fun round!
Played 500 Club yesterday and it was a pleasant surprise. The course was in great shape! The greens were rolling amazing. Each staff member we spoke with was nice and welcoming. There are some really fun holes to play on this course. I highly recommend checking out this place for yourself!
Fell in love with this course
First time playing here and was surprised at how clean the course conditions were. Greens were perfect and fairways were kept up great. The layout was what surprised me the most. Two holes involving a lake were my favorite, one with a bridge leading to the green on a small island. Amazing view in the afternoon. One hole is really challenging where you're going straight up hill, then you get rewarded coming back down on the next hole. Great golf, I'll be going here a lot.
Scary
Scary to play if you are concerned about Covid.
Absolutely no precautions. Cart sharing mandatory even if you don’t know the other person. Clubhouse no masks or screens even the employees taking no precautions to keep public safe. Pins and ball washers no restrictions only course I’ve played absolutely no precautions. Carts not sanitary even restaurant has no spacing or concerns. Stay away if you want to live
Solid Track
I played this course for the first time last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The conditions were solid (not stellar. It was a little over-priced ($55pp + cart fees) for the course. I would play it a lot more if it was a little lower!
I Wave The Caution Flag At This Track
My retired snowbird buddies favor this public course near their part of Scottsdale. I tried to embrace their enthusiasm for Tom Sneva's creation. The conditions are good, but not great. The layout is good, but not great. There are a few elevation change holes, but much of the design is desert vanilla. Much of the ground is hard which gives amazing bounces, good and bad, depending on how straight you hit it. I thought $76 for 18 with cart was a bit high, but I guess the almost in Scottsdale address warrants that. The staff is robotic and not quite friendly. I am not a fan of the starter calling names to the tee over the Pro Shop PA system. It lacks the necessary interaction and question answering that good starters always offer. The 19th Hole is really a glorified snack bar and does not feel welcoming. I am glad my buddies enjoy The 500 during their winters in AZ. I think I would like to find a club that has a little more horse power to it.
Not worth
The course is always in decent shape but not worth the amount of month they try to charge you. There are so many other options in the Phoenix that is worth the money.
wear a helmet
my first time playing this course, and i would say on at least 7 times there were people from other holes in my fairway hitting their shots. and i have no idea where they were hitting or how they got there. but this is DANGEROUS. some interesting holes and some pretty ones also, but the greens were really in awful condition.
the greens fee is definitely NOT worth the quality and condition of this course. i will NOT be back
Narrow and bone dry
Very disappointed by the following:
Price was higher than expected. Price quoted on-line did not include taxes.
Was told fairways were wide. That is if you include the hard-pan rough and alleged desert (really just dirt).
Driving into dirt was forbidden and shut off carts.
Course was ultra dry from rough to fairways to greens.
Forced to have bag-boy clean clubs as they were being cleaned while putting on 18th hole. Adds yet another unecessary expense.
Not worth the high price
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what it is!!! The greens are awful, the pace is super slow and the course is boring.. A lot if the holes are identical . Won't be back
Great value
I have played this course for over 15 years and in all that time I have never had a bad experience. As far as golf courses go in the metro Phoenix area, this one is a gem. The staff is incredibly nice.
Mancation circuit
This course has been on my Mancation circuit ever since I played it back in '04. I have always returned to this course on regular basis because it is a fun track. The course is challenging, yet rewarding. The greens aren't ridiculously crazy, the fairways are generous and the elevation changes are mild. The course is a bit out of the way so that really helps with the pace of play. Great course to return year after year.
