Golfer Reviews
Quiet hidden Jem
In a quiet town in Florida hides this simple and properly quaint golf course that does everything right . The course front 9 is simple and a good test . Well maintained greens give you a true feel . The back nine is beautifully carved out of the local forest providing a scenic view with nature all around , it takes you on a pleasant journey. All that said the course can be challenging as it requires you to be sure to keep it on the fairway , because the rough immediately connects to the forest and not much room for error. However it’s good for all level of golfers.
The staff and hospitality are at the highest level , Kevin and Adam really make you feel welcome . We stayed for a bite to eat and the food is very good with some unique and delicious items on the menu . The kitchen staff and servers really care about what they do and take great care of you .
It’s worth the drive , come and play . You won’t be disappointed.
Out in the woods
Staff is great, price is great, pace is great, not much is missed at this location. Played here a bunch, but not in over a year and it’s in good shape. It’s pretty laid back and everything I was looking forward to. Thanks.
Greens are in great shape. Enjoyed playing here. Fairways need work. Overall I like this course .
Wow
The nices greens and T boxes I ever seen, fairways poor overall great staff
A Diamond in the Rough
Filled with ‘Tin Cup’ charm. So worth the drive and a great value for the money! Pristine greens and approaches that are seriously plush and well manicured. Well marked layout made it easy to navigate the convoluted course. Staff is friendly, polite and courteous. The reality checks are: no water, no sand, tight back 9, and all the fairways could use work. But, it is a gem that I wished was closer to Ormond Beach!! Well worth the drive ..... we’ll go back.
Relaxed play
We always enjoy playing at The Oaks as it is a fairly casual course. Not a course on the pro tour but we enjoy it because there isn't a bunch of players that think they are all Tiger Woods like some other courses. Everyone is friendly and home cooking in the small clubhouse.
getting better but still needs work
The greens and tee boxes are getting better but the fairways need a lot of work
Unbelievably bad
To call this a cow pasture would be an insult to cow pastures. Greens were unplayable to the point that I didn't even bother to putt on most holes. All sand and weeds. Fairways mostly weeds. The people in the "clubhouse" were nice and friendly so not their fault but this truly is a horrible course
Very poor
The fairways were to long, lost 4 balls on the fairways. Greens were furry and sparse. Don't recommend until they fix it. The
Serious golfers don’t bother
If your a serious golfer don’t bother, greens are not worth putting on. If your just a hacker looking to slap the ball around and have fun then it’s not bad.
This course is in great condition for where it is.
The staff is Great. When checking in to play there were alot of people eating breakfast and again when finishing golfing, alot of people eating lunch. The new owner has done alot with this course to improve it. Played the course a few times in 4 years. It's in the best shape ever. Worth playing and we will and highly recommend it!
Nice change scenery! In the middle of nowhere, but nice drive to get there. The staff is friendly and helpful. Fairways are somewhat weedy and thin in spots, but well maintained. Green are in great shape, and there no sand traps. I would play here often if I lived closer.
A goat trail at best
Old, tight, weeds, thin grass....I mean weeds. Greens like a broccoli patch. Slow play, no mapping (sky caddie, garmin gps type). Pay the xtra 10-20 bucks to play somewhere else.
Needs new clubhouse
The obvious issue with this course is the old, very old, clubhouse. However, that aside, the golf course is in excellent condition, greens run true, and the staff are very nice and professional. This is a hidden gem and you can't beat the price. If staying in central Florida, go!
Course has a nice layout. like playing two different courses front 9 pretty open not much trouble to get in to. Back 9 a little tight tree line on both sides.
Best Condition Ever
The course was in the best condition I have seen it in years. This is a very challenging course for every level of skills. Everyone here was having a great day of fun. Beautiful drive among central Florida’s lake country.
Sporty and fun course
Really enjoyed the layout and the course. Greens were great albeit a bit slow. Would have given a higher review but fairways need more grass. Super friendly staff. Played 36 holes in 6 hours with a lunch break.
