Wow! Hidden Gem
Never heard of this course and lived in Birmingham for 20 years! Found it via golf now and I'm so happy I did! Great condition and a great price! Nice facilities and staff is excellent! Course if challenging and a few hints are needed before teeing off( which the pro gave us) . Overall great time and will definitely be coming back,
Great for Hosting a Family Outing
In April my family and friends chose Cider Ridge to host our annual family two day golf outing. We are golfers of all skill ranges: 9 handicap - what is a handicap?
The staff was very helpful in assisting with the setup - multiple tee times over multiple days, a good deal, checking back before our outing to ensure everything was planned well.
It rained us out for the first tee time but we were able to get out after a 1.5 hr delay. The course shed water well. We played the first round and came back to the clubhouse where we ate lunch. The food was fantastic. We were able to get in 2 1/2 rounds even with a weather delay. While we were delayed the staff and management continued to ask if there was anything we needed.
The next day was even better.
The greens roll true and are a challenge. Many of the holes are beautiful, Alabama mountain views. The course is wide open enough to give everyone a chance to play, but good locations of traps, water hazards, and hills make the course a challenge. Not as challenging as a Bay Hill or Oakmont but as an 11 handicapper it took a round or two and some course knowledge to shoot below 85. Don't bite off more than the course gives you. There are at least two holes where course knowledge is required. Birdie holes exist but you must land it close on some holes or the challenging greens will make it very tough.
I recommend this facility for a family outing of golfers at all skill levels and hope you enjoy it as much as I and my family did.
Beautiful course with some challenging holes
We enjoyed playing this course and would never have found it had we not used GolfNow. Beautiful and somewhat challenging! I appreciated the advantage given to Ladies tee boxes.. We are from Texas and will definitely play this course again when we pass through this area!
Great Course
Exceptional value, this would be a $60-$70 greens fee if this course was in my home city !!!!
Worth the drive
We drove the hour from Birmingham to play here. The course is in great shape and is an interesting and fair test. The greens rolled great but were a touch slow. An aspect of play here that could be improved is having a map of holes available. Without having played there a few times, tough to know where to hit it on some holes.
Wish the holes had better descriptions
Overall the course was in pretty good shape, a lot of water on several holes I guess from recent rains. The only thing that really stood out was I wish there were either hole descriptions or overhead pictures of the holes on the scorecard or cart or somewhere. There were several holes with tricky layouts or places where the fairway just ended without any notice that you couldn't see from the tee box. You think you hit a good shot only to find out you are in a hazard area. Otherwise nice course.
Fantastic challenge with green and fairway elevation.
Highly recommend playing. I drive over an hour one way to play.
Good value - nothing boring here
In pretty good shape considering it rained a foot the day before. Lots of tricky holes on the back. Great deal to play again same day for a cart fee ($17).
Great course
Cider ridge was in great condition. Challenging and fun. Would recommend to anyone!
Wow!
Excellent course. Very pretty. Very well maintained. Super friendly staff. Can't wait to play it again.
Great option to Silver Lakes
I stumbled onto this course as an option to RTJ and wasn't disappointed. The first hole was a long tough one and set the tone for the rest. There is plenty of water and the back 9 was very hilly. The fairways and greens were in very nice shape.
It was a pleasure to play.
loved the blind shot holes
For the time of year it was great. Greens had just been dressed and still played true
It was great
The best course in Oxford Alabama. It was very well maintained and very well kept up. The fairways was in great shape and the greens were also kept up. I recommend any better and everybody to come play cider ridge
A must play when in the Anniston/Oxford area
I have played this course a few times and it is always in good shape. One of the few remaining courses that has bent greens-which were in great shape. A few tee boxes needed some attention, but overall in great shape. The entire staff (pro shop to grill) was very welcoming.
Great place to play
I played this course just yesterday, Wednesday, May 15th early in the morning and I truly enjoyed the outing. The course was challenging but fun. As ~12-14 handicapper, the tees were just far enough apart to show the challenge of playing the tips to the average golfer like me playing the whites.
I will definitely be back as it was worth the 45 minute drive over (1 hr 15 from midtown) and I would match it up against many of the much more expensive courses I have played in the Atlanta area.
Challenging but fun
Fun course, helpful staff. Grill food was excellent. No cart girl on duty when we played early Monday. Course is not very forgiving, but a really great course if you like a long challenge.
A good test pon a well designed pretty course.
I was a little disappointing that they did not tell me they had just sanded the greens when I booked the round. Surprisingly though the greens were still very playable.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the round. The course was a good test from the back tees requiring a lot of accurate drives. The back nine was very picturesque. The par 5 18th is what every closing hole should be - a good balance of required accuracy and risk reward. The tee's and greens were in great shape and I would highly recommend this course.
Not worth the money to play.
First 6 holes are real golf but the rest are glorified minature golf. Too many gimmick and target golf holes on the hills. We played on a Friday, there was a fivesome 2 groups ahead of us at 10 in the morning. Wouldn't play ther again.
Great track
After the first six holes, this course takes a drastic change for the better. It has a couple of cool par 3's with elevated tee shots plus a variety of shorter and longer par 4 and par 5's. The only drawback is that even with a gps device, you still need local advice on holes like #10 and #18. It would be helpful if the course had a hole-by-hole guide or advice on the carts.
