Beautiful views and great layout
Great course, always well maintained and extremely reasonable price wise. Some tough holes for the first time playing there but repeat golfers will appreciate the layout.
Cider Ridge
A great course with some amazing views. Challenging back nine. Extreme elevation changes with lots of hills. Surprisingly good course conditions for Februaury
Wait for it...
A Troon facility, so you can expect the course to be in good shape. The Bent greens are rolling great, as they should be this time of year. Unlike most Birmingham-area courses with Bent greens, Cider Ridge's stay very playable year-round. There's seem to handle the heat better in the summer. Dramatic elevation changes beginning on hole 6 and remaining for the duration. You will get some excellent views of the Appalachian foothills, particularly in the autumn. Here is what I tell everyone that plays Cider Ridge for the first time... don't fall victim to your first impression of the course. The first hole is about as pedestrian as a gentle right-to-lefter gets. The par-5 fifth is a tight, straight-ahead par 5 that runs along a creek. In between, are three other relatively flat holes. You might think this is a pretty average course. And then you step onto the sixth tee and face an uphill par 4 that really sets the course into high gear. Do not be above the hole with your approach or you WILL three-putt. When you ascend to the seventh tee box, you will scratch your head and wonder is this REALLY a par 4, because it could be confused for a par 3. Strong strategy play as long, straight drivers can drive the green. Most players will settle for a mid-iron off tee, however well-placed pot bunkers can swallow balls. I've seen eagles and 8s made here, hence this is a good hole. The back nine will put all kinds of pressure on your game. No. 10 offers a blind tee shot. Tip: play to the 150-yard pole. Driver off tee will likely leave you in the vast barranca hidden from view. No. 14 is one of the hardest holes in the area. Again, play to the 150 pole and take time to notice the natural waterfalls to the right of the green. The par 3s are the centerpiece of this course. Practice facility is outstanding with wide, flat range.
A Jewel Close to Home
Cider Ridge is a wonderful place to enjoy the game of golf. Each hole presents its own challenge and never plays the same from day to day.
Course is in great condition considering the drought we are in. Had a noon tee time and the pace of play was perfect. Played 18 in 3 hrs 20 mins. I saw only 2 groups all day and after letting the last one play through, practically had the course to myself after #4.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so proud to have this quality course located 2 miles from home. Can't wait to play there again.
Nice fall views
Course was in great shape, considering the drought. Would like to play again in spring/early summer. Played to see some fall colors and it was nice. However, would have been spectacular if weather hadn't been so dry this fall.
Being first time playing, didn't do great, would be much easier second time.
One of the best in Alabama
Cider Ridge is one of the best courses I've played so far. GolfNow hot deal price makes it an incredible bargain. Course is very scenic and well maintained, with pristine fairways and fast rolling greens. Staff was very helpful - young man helped me find the first tee which was a long drive from the club house - past the driving range.
It was definitely worth the drive from Birmingham and I can't wait to go and play again soon.
Prepare to Be Surprised
I can't express how much I love this place. We look forward to our annual trip here every year. Exciting course with challenging and breathtaking holes. Great service from a very friendly staff. It will surprise you what a special gem you will find tucked away off the beaten path in Oxford, AL. I highly recommend this course.
Friendly Staff
The course was in good condition except for some of the greens. There was several bare spots on some of the greens. Probably due to the extreme heat we have had lately. I will try playing again this fall when temperatures are milder.
Disappointed
With a top rating for the courses in Alabama, I thought this would be a can't miss. I called the staff the day before I played to learn of course conditions. I was told it was in great shape, and would be worth my time to drive over from Georgia.
I was saddened to find that the greens were in terrible shape. Staff , layout and other conditions were good, but , with poor greens the experience was muted.
It might be worth a drive, if they get the greens in shape.
Great times
This is not my first time here. My friends call my a golf snob. No offense I just don't like playing cow pastures. My friends and I play a lot of THE RTJ Golf trail. They are alway in great shape. Anyway Cider Ridge has a #5i rating in the state of Alabama. Fairways are lush, greens are fast and true. Staff was very thoughtful and friendly. If you go tell Rooster hi. The only thing that did stick in my craw was they didn't have Corona beer. Great place, Great time.
Love This Course
As usual the course was outstanding. This was my third visit and has always been in great shape.
YOU GOT TO PLAY THIS COURSE!!!
I've played a lot of golf courses this one is probably the best one i've ever played! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my day at Cider Ridge.
Excellent staff and fun course
Cider Ridge is an excellent course with a very helpful staff. Course was in great shape even though there has been a recent drought. There are some challenging holes out there. Hope to make it back soon
Great Course
Love the course. The front side is a little easier than the back. I wish I could have started on #1 instead of #10 but had a great day on the course and will be back again this year.
Nice
This is now my no.1 northeast bama course. And definitely in my top 10 ever. Loved this course. Course pushed back when I tried to get creative and my 86 showed it won after handicap subtracted a 74 for the day
All holes are different
Fun course to play. In very good shape. Hilly in many areas but designed so you have fairly flat lies to hit from in most cases.
