Avon Fields Golf Course
About
Avon Fields Golf Course is one of the older golf courses in Cincinnati, where it sits on picturesque land that rolls along fairways lined with trees - and it's easily accessible to downtown. The golf course provides tests and good times for golfers at all levels, with elevated and diminutive greens for those who like to play short golf, as well as those who need more practice at it (for those who need more practice in general, the Jimmy Woods Learning Center is onsite).
Avon Fields Golf Course provides 18 holes of par-67 golf over 5,081 yards. Tee off on a par 4 that plays to 369 yards. The course is short compared with megacourses being built elsewhere nowadays: About a third of the holes come in at under 200 yards, even from the Blue tees, while only the fourth hole, the lone par-5 hole, stretches to over 400 yards from the Blue tees.
As the Avon Fields Golf Course is a municipal golf course, expect affordable green fees, and those who can swing a round of golf during the workweek can expect them to be even lower.

Triple booking
Always nice to start your round with a 30 minute wait on the tee box & 6 groups behind you watching you tee off. This place has the worst management of any course in the area. Pace of play is an absolute joke. Course was in very average condition. Would be a fun course to play if you didn’t have to wait 15 minutes before each shot on every hole. Maybe learn how to manage tee times so the people who visit your course can actually enjoy themselves.
Home course
I consider this my home course playing at this course for many years now always has been one of my favorites.
Great When Course is in Better Shape
This is a nice, moderately difficult course with a good layout. However, it is not a true regulation course (par 66 with no par 5 holes). The staff is very pleasant and there are frequently good deals. Right now, the fairways are not in great shape, but that will hopefully improve through the spring.
Public course that is pretty good
This is a fun cheap course. Don’t expect fancy or any amenities, but a nice layout and good time.
Trees man.
The trees were everywhere. The ground team dropped one in the fairway as we pulled up to the tee box and then left. On 17 the tree fell onto the green. Nothing like hitting it into the woods 7 feet from the pin.
Hilly course with great greens
Played during the off season and had the course to myself. After I finished my round, I was shocked others were not playing. I am a huge fan of Bill Langford courses and this does not disappoint. It has Langfords large built up greens and couple that with a very hilly site and you get a fun quirky course.
The course is short, but I counted at least 6 holes with abandoned back tees. Do not let the yardage deter you, there is still plenty of course to enjoy!
worth the money
One of Cincinnati’s best kept secrets
Played here twice. Course is very good. Some great views. Staff is top notch
Unfriendly Staff
I play this course often because of the convenience. However, it is a bit overpriced for the quality of the course.
Every time I have played, I was greeted by unfriendly and unwelcoming management. This course needs new management.
Never again
The worst staff I've ever had. Unfriendly, didn't care about customers or the money we spend to keep the course open and running. I'll never go back
Good course-aerated greens
Very fun course, good value, great layout....greens were aerated would love to see them in the summer
Fun course to play
Played 18 holes in 2 hour and 45 minutes by myself. Had to wait on two groups to play through in the first 4 holes, but was cruising after that. This was probably my 6th time playing this course in 2020. Not a bad track; you pay if you don't hit it straight, and the greens are tough. Highly recommend this course!
Liars
Booked 18 holes for hot deal $21.00, arrive to play. Guy says it’s getting Darker soon. May not get all holes in. We have 4hrs to sundown, course is just over 5,000 yards should take about 2 and half 3 hours. Pace of play was atrocious but I can get over that. We finished 9 holes it’s 6:12 and Asst. pro tells us we don’t have enough light and that’s why he charged us for 9 holes. I told him I was charged 18. He then shows me that yes I booked through golf now for $21.00 but he only charged me 9 which is $21.50. So I bought a hot deal then got charged more and told we could only play 9. He eventually caved and said we could play the front 9 again but it was to dark to play the back. Which is rediculous. Course is tiny it’s all the same lighting. Course is in 2.5 star out of 5 shape. It’s not even worth a hot deal for $10.
Course great, Management not
I have no complaints as to the course. I enjoyed it very much. Conditions very good, layout great, has a special appeal for an older course. Only problem was with course management. First no rangers on course. Second management not following golf ettiquet. I booked an 11:40 tee time for 1 player. The threesome ahead of me booked the same time. No one at course suggested the two groups play together to make it a foursome. I had no problem with that however after the first nine the threesome ahead of me went into the clubhouse to purchase food items and beverages. As the tee was open when I made the turn I was prevented from going ahead to finish my back 9. It seemed like the young starter had no clue that the long standing rule at all courses that if you enter the clubhouse and a person or group behind does not and wants to continue on with the back nine the group stopping at the turn forfeits their place in line. The 10th hole was completely open when I was prevented from teeing off. This threesome of young inexperienced players often hit two and sometimes 3 extra shots on several holes on the front nine and there were no rangers on the course to address this. While I enjoyed my round it took way too long to complete play.
Greens
the greens were in bad shape a lot of spots very bare.
fairways were in good shape.
