About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

There aren’t many opportunities to play in November I. northeast Ohio, but the course was in good shape. I always enjoy the course as it provides a variety and of shots and risk/reward opportunities.

Honestly, this course is not worth the money they ask. Handful of courses that have better layouts right around the corner. Nice course but Not worth the hype.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to play today. I’m disappointed the weather broke very late and I didn’t have a chance to cancel. So I wound up losing my fee.

Very fun first time golfing this course
Considering that it’s quite late in the season and most courses are beginning their aeration processes, this course was mostly in fantastic condition. However, there were several greens that had some significantly damaged spots and many greens had ball marks all over the green. With the green fees being ~$60/person for 18 holes, I would have expected the greens to be in a little better shape. The rest of the course (tee box, fairway, and rough) was in great shape for the end of september. The staff and even other golfers we encountered were very friendly and I definitely intend to play here again sometime.

Pace of play
Course layout is excellent. Greens were quick but not as smooth as one would expect after paying 60$. Quite a few divots that weren’t able to heal effectively. Hungry? At the turn it was a 10 min wait for hot dogs. Pace of play was slower than you could imagine. No ranger.

This course is well maintained with a decent level of difficulty. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and the built in range finders in the carts are priceless.

Shale nice, but wet fairways & greens
I tend to give good reviews when score is good, and today was great tee2green. I had a few 3putts; Bogied all par 5s, but hit all par 3s (not my norm for either). Pace-of-play was slow, but couple of guys in my group had problems ........still tho, we played back9 behind a 5some
