Shale Creek Golf Club

Easily on of the best public courses in NE Ohio. I played Shale Creek for the 2nd time in 2 years and it was every bit as good as the 1st time. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The starter gave me a few tips about some of the holes that came in handy. Range balls were complimentary---nice touch! And then there's the course...I love it. Its challenging but also fair. 5 sets of tees to choose from so even a high handicapper would find playing at Shale enjoyable. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all immaculate. Greens rolled true and they were quick. The regular greens fees are a little steep but you get what you pay for. I got a great deal on GolfNow via a "Hot Deal." My partner had never played Shale before and he agreed that this was easily one of the best courses in the Cleveland area. Go see for yourself, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Last Time I Played Here there was no club house, wow what a club house they have built very nice Facilities. The Golf Course was in excellent shape, the greens were fast and true and the fairways were some of the best I have played on all year, good job to the staff . Other then the wind that is always present at this golf course the weather was perfect, the wind only adds to the difficulty of this course. Overall Great Day and Golf Challenge.

Fun course to play from tips to the whites. Each tee promotes its own set of challenges, fun and challenging at the same time

Played this course on Oct 3rd. Wind chills in the 30s and rain. Course is in great shape for this time of year. Fairways very nice, and the greens were very fast and challenging. Wet rough on this day added to the challenge.

The greens are what protect this course from being pretty easy actually. Lots of suttle breaks, and very very fast. You should hit a lot of fairways here. And the course is not particularly long. The Par 3s and Par 5s are easy compared to other top public courses in the area.

Overall a great facility, course is in really good shape. A higher class golf experience for sure.

Enjoyed playing shale creek for the 2 bad time. Great challenge, especially from the tips. Fairways and greens in great condition. Definitely be back.

I played Shale Creek several years ago before the clubhouse - I must say that the overall experience has improved significantly and I would recommend this course to anyone. The conditions were great despite the recent dry spell. The greens run true and the layout is fair to all levels of golfer.

Didn't mention the restricted areas where the cart shuts off. Wasn't told about this and wasn't marked at all on the course. Noticed other golfers having the same problem during our round lots of wasted time contributing to slow play.

Shale Creek is one of my favorite courses. From the range, to the excellent condition of the course, greens were in great shape, staff very courteous and helpful, it is a must play if you live or are in the Cleveland area visiting.

The layout is great. Just an overall great golf experience.

This is by far the best course in the Brunswick/Medina/Strongsville area. If you haven't played it, you need to! Greens are very true and roll perfect, fairways are like butter.

I haven't played here in 10+ years, but got a pretty good deal through golfnow. The layout in interesting with a variety of holes/shots. Course is in excellent condition. Fairways green/soft, greens a bit slow (probably due to overnight rain) but rolled nice. Sand traps well maintained. Nice to have complimentary range balls and GPS. It would have been nice for pro shop to warn you that the carts automatically lose power is you go to restricted areas (like leaving cart path on par 3's).

So my father and I went to play this course, when we showed up it had a good looking facilities and the staff was nice. they let you hit golf balls for free with a time which i liked and the putting green was in good condition also BUT when we got on the course and the first couple hole were fine. Then we got on this par three, the pro shop had let a family of nine go in three separate groups which is fine but they didn't have a starter for the price we paid on a Saturday was outrageous!!! we were on pace to play a 3 hour and 45 minute round but since the family in front of us would let u through and there was no starter we never to play the back nine. I called in and ask if we play the front nine again. Overall I was disappointed for how much we paid and how the course looked i just dont think I want to play it again

I found the greens to be some of the best among public courses in the area, and would say they are a bit slow but close to the same quality of Medina country club. The lay out of the course is pretty fair and short to medium long from the back tees. I enjoyed hitting a lot of wedges into greens and the smooth putting surfaces. I will definitely play again.

Very boring course....shale creek only comes into play on the back holes 10, 11 and 12 thank God for those three holes as they are what makes that course. I don't think three holes warrant paying over 50.00. Drive down to eaglesticks or Longaberger and be simply amazed for 25.00 and 47.00.
Very disappointed with shale creek golf course!

Took me a few holes to feel out the greens. Speed was pretty consistent but some were bouncy while others held. Mainly forgiving fairways; at mercy of bounces because of rolling terrain. Most fairway lies ended up level however. Back nine has a couple of tricked up holes where driver is not the club from the tee but overall a well laid out, roomy, swing free course. My first time and I would go back. There are many less expensive courses on the west side but this one was worth the price. I'm a 66 year old 11 handicapper and played from 6300 yards. The big boys can go all the way to 7000 if they want. Woman friendly green tees as well. Bring the bride if you are so inclined.

We had a 4pm tee time so it was pretty quiet. We hit our complimentary range balls for about 10 minutes before we started. The course is great and well taken care of. You can tell the grounds crew and staff take pride in their work and providing a quality experience. The staff was eager to help and did a great job at explaining the course and various features since it was our first time there.

The only compliant really was the charge of the golf carts. I don't know if they were just short on carts or had a busy morning or something, but we saw about 3 carts being pushed back to the clubhouse while we played and ours started to die on 16 but it was able to sputter itself back to the clubhouse after our round was done.

Absolutely loved the course. I got lost getting to the course, GPS at fault. Called the Pro shop spoke to someone who couldn't have been more helpful. Arrived at the course and proceeded to the range to hit some complimentary balls. Played with my son who was in town. The fairways were cut tight with some roll to them. The greens not particularly fast were true consistent speed. The course was busy with an outing finishing up pace was good as we played 18 in three hours and forty five. The price was more than reasonable. GPS on carts were helpful. I will be back.

If you can't place the ball well don't play here. If you can it's a fabulous and slightly challenging course. A lot of fun to play and they really take care of the course.

I've golfed a lot of courses in northeast Ohio but had never made it to Shale until last week and I can tell you I will definitely be back. This place is fantastic... Nice facilities, the course was fast, the greens were perfect, and the GPS system is spot on. This course is very fun to play and challenges you simultaneously. My only knock on the place was no Bloody Mary Mix on the beverage cart. I can't wait to play Shale Creek again!

My first round was back in 2009. They never have fixed green fees. I have 2 groups to play every week, so I have a Tee Times Golf Pass. Every single time I paid different green fees depend on their mood. But the worst thing is green. It just look a like a green. some hole's fairway was better than the green. I don't suggest play at this course.
