Friendly staff
Great place to spend a afternoon , everyone friendly from the guy with the carts to the woman at the cash. New Pro came out and introduced himself, very nice guy, will come back here, food was very good also after the round!!!!!
It’s tight.
Greens are all pretty decent and that is what matters most. The rest of the course is fair at best.

This course was fun and fair priced. The staff was friendly. The restaurant on-site was lsck luster. A good golf course.

How slow can golf be??????
Really disappointed that the club ran its own competition on the day we played. First nine took almost three hours!!!!!! Back 9 a little better because most visitors gave up. On the 13th hole we realized the problem, ahead there were groups of 5, each with their own cart, on the hole we saw them they were all over the place. We will never play here again and certainly won't recommend it.

Still a little soggy
We play this course often, once a week at least. The course looks great and plays great with the one exception of the sagginess in certain spots like they're definitely overwatering. It's green to the most other golf courses but the overwatering causes mud load up on the balls. I think because they don't have to pay for water and suck it from the ponds. They need to manage the water better. Give it time to dry. Otherwise we love it here .

Slow
Everything about this outing went wrong. The club house couldn't find my reservation. The starter filled my tee time with other people that required me to wait. Course was over booked so we had to wait for every shot. Not an enjoyable afternoon.

Course was fun and the weather was perfect. We finished late afternoon and the pro shop was closed. When we unpacked at home we realized we left a gps and called the next morning and they didn’t have it. It was attached to the windshield post with a bungee and we know it didn’t fall off between the last hole and the cart barn. Just a warning to make sure you retrieve all your belongs because you won’t be getting them back.

Superb and challenging layout, but perpetually wet
This is yet another great Ron Garl layout (he also designed Huntington Hills and Big Cypres).. Schalamar Creek is shorter and tighter than the others. If you’re a little off your game, the threatening nature of Florida’s wilderness will have you losing balls all day.
Schalamar Creek has the nicest people and the best-kept carts of any public course in Lakeland. The only knock on the place is the high water table. If it rained within the past few days, it’s gonna be a soggy, muddy round. Even during the dry winter season, watering the fairways will have you taking mud divots instead of grass. The course is 90-degree rule pretty much year-round.
If they can get hold of their moisture issue, Schalamar Creek will be the best public golf course experience in Lakeland.
When I wrote this review, I was hoping for more than the same copy-and-paste reply they do for all 4-star reviews. When are they gonna stop over-watering this course and grow some grass?

Not good
Course is not worth it. Fairways are not good. They are so wet, the group in front of us actually got stuck in the middle of the fairway in the cart (left massive muddy tracks about 20 feet across the middle of the fairway). There is very little grass on fairways- either weeds or dead patches. My son hit a drive on a par 3 and the ball plugged 3/4 into the mud. Until conditions dry out this is not worth playing. Sorry for the tough review. But others should be aware of the conditions before booking.

Course was in good shape. Greens are not not that fast due to length of cut. Pace was reasonable…about 1/2 hour longer than normal. All in all it was good value for the cost. Normally this course is wetter but it was fairly dry with a few plugged balls.

Good value
Nice golf experience. Pretty crowded/slow but it's Feb central FL! Our only comment would be the course is extremely wet, with no rain in quite a while. Would play again at a good price.
