BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Wonderful time
Everything was perfect.......condition of course was perfect....pace was fast....weather was cooperating too... greens were aerated but were settling down.
overall 10
Blackhorse North Review
I played the North Course as a single. Very little traffic on the course . Course was in excellent shape overall. The greens were a little sandy and slow.
Like tournament conditions
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course fairways sand traps and greens, it was like playing a country club and tournament conditions
Fantastic condition! Very fair with true greens!
Great course! Can't wait until our next visit to Houston!
Private club feel
This course is always in great condition, and has a private club feel to it. Green is perfect and you're spaced out so you never have to wait to play your shot. Why would anyone join a private club when there are public course this good and affordable?
West /cypress
Front nine was challenging and greens rolled well.
A great Saturday!
The North Course was in great condition. There was not one negative thing to say about this golf club. First class from start to finish! Thank you for a great round!
Great Condition
I played the north course. The front 9 is a great layout, the back 9 is
not as impressive. The holes are lined up alongside each other. The course is in great shape, fairways are nice and green and the greens are too.The bunkers are deep with soft sand in them. The day I played it was cart path only so that was the only downside. I got a great deal on Golfnow so I don't know if I would have paid full price with it being cart path only. It's one of the nicest
courses in Houston.
Jeckel & Hyde
We played the north course on Saturday afternoon. The front 9 is beautiful, fun layout with a different challenge on every hole. The back 9 is the exact opposite. No water, no trees, every hole looks the exact same with no fun. I enjoyed the round, but $60-80 dollars a round is extremely overpriced
Course in decent shape
The North course was in okay shape. The fairways and bunkers are great but the greens are average. Greens aren't as fast as they usually are and they're a little bumpy.
North Course
Course was in very good shape the greens were fast true and smooth I do recommend this course!
Great Course and great experience
Well work the extra few dollars, but a very good experience! Greens have spoiled me for the other public courses and the fairways are very well taken care of. Will return!
Nice
Enjoyed my round. Above average but not great. Mostly nice greens, very nice sand traps, and very good fairways. The course is rather straight fairly long. Pay attention to the signs on the cart path. You can get lost quick on the North course.
Could be much better
For $100 the course should be in much better condition. Lots of bald spots and weeds. Weeds in the greens. It is April and this course has a reputation that has been lost. This course should be pristine right now. But it appears they stop spending money on it.
Black horse north
The greens are not prime yet but very close to summer conditions. The areas around the green were being fertilized. Over all course was in excellent condition. The pace of play was unusually slow. But maybe I just play quickly. Just seemed to be large groups in no hurry.
The best course in Houston
This is must play course if you're in Houston area. Especially if you got a great deal from Golfnow haha
Critique
Post a layout of the hole near the tee box. As a first time players we were often confused.
Lowest score!
Black horse has two 18 hole course, also has the best practice facility's around. I played the north course. The fairways where in really good conditions and the greens where rolling really nice. I played this same course about a month ago and shot a 110. This time around i shot a 87. Love this golf course.
Good Experience
We started on the north course. I liked the fact that off the tee you could see trouble on one side of the fairway . So players can play away from trouble. Greens were very good. Fairways were just " ok" --which was to be expected due to the harsh winter.
Lunch was delicious. I had the brisket sandwich on sweet bread.
Went out and played the south course after lunch. Challenging track---especially off the tee. You must hit the ball straight off the tee at the south course.
Great Course
Blackhorse is a great daily fee facility. It has 36 holes, the North Course is a bit less challenging but it is all the golf course most golfers can handle. The greens are in excellent shape, the rough is starting to come in and the fairways were very nice. The only condition issue was the tee boxes - they haven't been mown in a while, likely to ensure that they grow in well.
