BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Solid Track
Played both the North and South quite a bit, Back 9 on North, and Front 9 on South is best combo, but good luck working that out, as this course stays busy. Got lucky with a $30 hot deal at 6p. Greens were pretty slow, and looks like they needed another setting down on the mower. Great place, and overall condition.
Quick Mid-Week Round
We played the North Course after a surprise storm hit in the afternoon and a lot of the other courses in town closed. Luckily Blackhorse stayed open and although it was cart path only we finished in under four hours. I guess it was only true sickos trying to play that evening. I wouldn't recommend walking to anyone else (I knew the layout but still gave it a shot since it was CPO) but in general it's a fun track. I also think the GPS in the carts was fairly new. I don't remember seeing that before although I could be mistaken. Blackhorse is not part of my regular rotation mostly because of the cost but I like both courses and I'll definitely be back at some point.
No communicstion
The course was closed and I was given no notification. I drive almost an hour to okay here only to arrive to a course that was closed. Even worse, I cancelled my
Other tee time in order to play here. I’d then lost my time at the other course. Extremely frustrating.
The greens were terrible. Some were patchy and Al were slow. Slowest in the area. Not worth paying $135.
Good People, Great Time
Course was in good shape, especially for being public. Everyone at the course was friendly and a good time.
Overpriced
Extremely expensive course for little value. Course is nice but if I’m paying $120-150 it is definitely not worth that amount.
Beers are $5 each, range balls are $10 for a small bucket.
Very disappointing
Greens are in terrible shape. Dry spots and poa annua everywhere. Hopefully most of the poa annua will burn off as summer approaches. The fairways were in decent shape. I recommend playing elsewhere until they fix their greens problem.
You're time
Pace of play was extremely slow, As a single, I do expect at some point to have to wait. But this was excessive 10 to 15 minute. Wait in between shots. No ranger, No course etiquette ,.a hole and a half open. So bad I just left.
Really bad greens and bunkers
They say this is $100-$150+ course but not currently. More like a $65 value.
Greens are dead, bunkers lack sand, and fairways cut to dirt.
Recommend playing somewhere else fir few months.
Black horse north
The corse is in good condition greens are good a little slow bunkers are trash unplayable
Good afternoon
The course has an interesting layout and was in good condition.
Not super happy
The golf cart restrictions were very annoying. 90 degree rule is one thing but those carts are irritating.
Also at the turn the toilet in the bathroom exploded at it was disgusting.
Pace of play due to three guys not using good golf course management was horrendous. Must hasten Marshall's 4 times but they never seemed to care how they were causing a large back up.
I used to love the course but it just doesn't have the same feel anymore.
North Course
Green on #1 looking rough but otherwise track was in great shape. Even handled a mid round downpour well.
Conditions don’t match the price
The course was in pretty bad shape especially considering they’re charging the highest public green fee in Houston. Fairways were pretty baked out. Most of the greens had sprouts making the putting surface uneven and a lot of the lies around the green were mostly bare dirt. Before the round even started there were no range balls and even if there were any there’s no spots on the range to swing. If you’re going to charge prices that are up there with golf club of Houston at the very least you need to have close course conditions and a spot to warmup.
Over priced course with rude staff
The course is over priced for what it is. We played the North Course and it was in terrible shape. The greens had all kinds of foreign grass mixed in with the Bermuda grass. The pro shop was rude when o asked for help looking for a shirt size. I would not return and play here as the price doesn’t reflect the quality of the course.
