BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Fantastic course
The course in general is in great shape. Fairways are fantastic, green are fast, the only issue that we had was that one of the golf carts run out of juice after hole 15
Crooks
Booked a tee time. Golf Now charged me $6. Was not able to make the tee time. Have had this happen in the past at other courses without issue.
However, this time, this course, days later, charges me $184 for a round we never played on a day when there were tons of tee times available.
Will not do business with Black Horse in the future and will delete my Golf Now app, an app I had used for years until, without warning, they turn into crooks.
Rough was too severe, spent too much time looking for balls just off the fairway, fairways were too long,, sand traps excellent, greens OK
"Worst bunkers in Houston Region"
That's a quote for a USGA official and if you play you will agree.
You cannot play the bunkers, don't try. carpet sticks out everywhere and basically no sand.
Ruff is extremely long and easy to lose ball if it goes in.
Do not spend $100+ ($140+ on weekends) on these courses. Try something good.
Maybe someday the owners will make a change and fix this.
North Course
Played North Course 5 days after a hurricane and raining almost everyday.
Course was in surprisingly great shape! Cart path only as it had just poured for over an hour.
Course drained well. Sand traps were trashed but that is to be expected.
Staff was friendly and professional. Cart was clean with GPS.
Practice facilities were great!
Want to play again on a dry day.
Great Father’s Day
Everything was wonderful. Fast play with helpful staff.
Solid Track
Played both the North and South quite a bit, Back 9 on North, and Front 9 on South is best combo, but good luck working that out, as this course stays busy. Got lucky with a $30 hot deal at 6p. Greens were pretty slow, and looks like they needed another setting down on the mower. Great place, and overall condition.
Quick Mid-Week Round
We played the North Course after a surprise storm hit in the afternoon and a lot of the other courses in town closed. Luckily Blackhorse stayed open and although it was cart path only we finished in under four hours. I guess it was only true sickos trying to play that evening. I wouldn't recommend walking to anyone else (I knew the layout but still gave it a shot since it was CPO) but in general it's a fun track. I also think the GPS in the carts was fairly new. I don't remember seeing that before although I could be mistaken. Blackhorse is not part of my regular rotation mostly because of the cost but I like both courses and I'll definitely be back at some point.
No communicstion
The course was closed and I was given no notification. I drive almost an hour to okay here only to arrive to a course that was closed. Even worse, I cancelled my
Other tee time in order to play here. I’d then lost my time at the other course. Extremely frustrating.
The greens were terrible. Some were patchy and Al were slow. Slowest in the area. Not worth paying $135.
Good People, Great Time
Course was in good shape, especially for being public. Everyone at the course was friendly and a good time.
Overpriced
Extremely expensive course for little value. Course is nice but if I’m paying $120-150 it is definitely not worth that amount.
Beers are $5 each, range balls are $10 for a small bucket.
Very disappointing
Greens are in terrible shape. Dry spots and poa annua everywhere. Hopefully most of the poa annua will burn off as summer approaches. The fairways were in decent shape. I recommend playing elsewhere until they fix their greens problem.
You're time
Pace of play was extremely slow, As a single, I do expect at some point to have to wait. But this was excessive 10 to 15 minute. Wait in between shots. No ranger, No course etiquette ,.a hole and a half open. So bad I just left.
you should probably check to see if the course you're playing got hit by a tornado next time!
