The Quarry Golf Club

Have played Quarry several times and have never had these conditions before, it was firm.and fast and the greens were absolutely perfect,. Pro Shop Staff was outstanding and very helpful. I guess they had Zero rain for around 30 days and it showed in some of the rough, but the fairways were plush. Our group loved it and its always a pleasure to play Quarry. Thanks Steve

Played this course as part of a golf trip to/around the Cleveland area in late May 2023. This course was included on our itinerary based on its listing as a Top Course by Golf Advisor.

PACE: Given the difficulty of this course, it's going to play slow. The 4some head of us let us play thru on #6. However, by #8 we caught up to another group that was being slowed down by several groups ahead of them. Again, given the demand of this course I'm not sure how you could speed up pace of play.

CONDITIONS: Tees are crowning, had divots, and were burned out in spots. Fairways and rough were thin or burned out in spots. Bunkers had pebbles and not thin sand. Greens seem to be cared for, and ran fast but fair; lot of undulations.

STAFF: Very friendly in the pro shop and the starter was very helpful as well.

VALUE: Despite the conditions, I didn't feel we were overpriced. I would consider this greens fee fair.

LAYOUT: We played the Blue tees (6,300). What in fun house golf is this place! Blind tee shots. Slopes that run your ball well away from where it landed. Tee shots where you can only assume to know where the fairway is. This place was an adventure! Some of the challenges are fun (#5, #6, #8, #17, #18). Some of the holes are the toughest and/or silliest holes I've every played (#4, #13, #14, #15). Yeah... you can't walk this course. Actually, there will be times on this course where you'll have a hard time walking back to your cart.

I found this course to be very aggressively geo-fenced. This seemed unnecessary. Also, we were not seeing cart trackers on the GPS. This would be helpful so that you know when the groups ahead of you have cleared and you can hit.

Play this course once... just so you can have stories to tell.

This was our 3rd time playing here in the last few years. We were hoping to see things had improved, but it wasn't so. Its always sad to see a beautifully laid out championship style course not be kept up to par. Some of the tee boxes were rough, a lot of brown in fairways, and the greens were terrible! Mostly browned out and a good amount of peeling. It was like putting on a glass tabletop. Huge bounces on approach shots causing the ball to go behind the greens. This course is already a tough enough layout! The range was just meh. Mats only and they were in bad shape. Random mix of balls. The staff we talked to were all friendly, and cart gps is always nice. First order of business, get the greens in good shape, and people will re-visit. I would not consider golfing here again in its current state.

Who is up for a 6 hour round? If you have nothing better to do, play here. Teed off at 10:10am and drove off 18th green at 4:08pm. Group 2 ahead of us was a foursome playing a scramble between them. They were almost “3” holes behind the group in front of them. Here is how alow it was. On the 10th tee the group ahead of us was waiting to tee off, and by the time they hit, there were two additional groups behind us now waiting. Never has this happened before while playing (Boulder Creek is close). GPS kept alerting us to how far behind pace of play we were. You would think someone would be monitoring and arnd a marshall out. I can guarantee you the 10-12 foursomes who were behind this group will not be back. Nice job “Quarry.” Great layout and used to br a favorite. “Never” again!

Course condition was not good. Greens are somewhat burned out, not sure what happened. Lots of brown spots in fairway. Get rid of the girls who wile down clubs on 18 and get a marshall on the course. Lost so much revenue yesterday as would have like to get a drink and eat on patio but had to run due to how long the round took

Love Huntley courses for their unique designs and was looking forward to playing this course as it is top rated. Conditions were horrendous. Fairways brown and rock hard. Green complexes same except for ones near the clubhouse. Tee boxes a mess. Pace of play non existent. We were 15 mins off pace after first hole. Got hit up into on second hole while standing in the fairway to make matters worse. This is a hard course so hitting fairways is imperative. Even a good shot couldn't hold the burned out fairways which played like cement and "rough" was more like a waste area. Driving range a shambles. Really a shame because layout is stunning and clubhouse really nice.

We were looking forward to playing the Quarry Golf Course. Was probably a bad decision playing on a holiday weekend. We played 12 holes in 4 1/2 hours and had 2-3 groups on each tee box. After 12 holes we decided to call it a day and leave. No ranger. The course has a nice layout but the condition was poor. The range was full of weeds and poor mats to hit off. There were dead and bare areas on each green. The tees were baked and rock hard with no good grass. Being a low handicap woman golfers, we had choices of playing 4800 yards of 5950. Would be nice to offer a set between those lengths. Nice staff and clubhouse. Nice selection at halfway house. Disappointing that this nice layout has gone so downhill.

The greens were as hard as a rock and… burnt, which is hard to imagine how in mid-May? It had 2015 US Open vibes when I played there (obviously not as bad) but you almost had to land everything 10/15 yards short because the bounces were enormous.

I’ve played here numerous times and typically am impressed with course conditions. Not so much this time around. Greens were a little shaggy in comparison to what I have usually seen there. The rough and fairways needed attention as well. Expected a little more.

Layout was incredible. Dramatic elevation changes coupled with incredible views. Every hole felt unique and challenging, especially playing from the tips. The pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning in the future!

Not worth the price we paid. Had to do a lot of walking. Wasn’t even mowed.

Course views are amazing and the lay out of the course is very interesting. Course was a little wet, but was expected. Can only imagine how nice this course would be in perfect condition. Will be playing again!

Course has it all, great piece of property, great layout, great greens, and great views. One of Ohios best if not best public course.

Must play for the traveling golfer.
