Nasty rangers ruin what could be a nice course
Played here before and had a grumpy ranger. We figured it’s a decent layout and well maintained course so let’s try it again. After all, we have all had a bad day at work and we were willing to try again. Nope. They started us on 10. Not ideal but no problem. Stopped for about 15 mins. of pouring rain and let a group through. Teed off on 1(our back nine) and we’ were accosted by a ranger when we got on the green that we were 20 mins behind and we had better move along.
Yes, after paying $75/each we were told told(not asked nicely) to move along like children. We were on the green and the group behind us was just teeing off! The ranger said there was a couple of holes open in front of us. Who cares? We were not holding anyone up and if we had been we would have let them play through
We skipped spending a couple of hundred dollars at the bar/grill (which is good and has a nice staff) and went out to eat. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. It’s what happens when you hire ex cops or schoolteachers to ranger the course Also, we stopped with our bags still on the cart for 2 seconds by the putting green and were told by another grumpy old buzzard that we should bring the carts back where we got them from. Terrible, nasty on course staff.
Bar/grill nice staff. Good food
Pro shop nice staff.
Never actually got to play
I showed up at 6:38 am to play golf as a single. The pro shop told me I was good to play at 7:48. I practiced for an hour and then went to the tee box. The group in front of me had 5 players(?). They tee'd off and I waited for my group to show. Nobody showed up so I tee'd off at 7:48. The starter came running down and told me I couldn't go out by myself and that there was a group coming up that I could join. When the group showed up, there were 4 of them. They offered to let me play with them but when I asked the starter if it was ok, he said "we don't allow 5 players". I told him that a group of 5 just teed off. He said, "oh, they're members". He then told me he would try to get me out soon.... I asked when and he said as soon as there was a group that I could play with. I didn't have all day to wait so I asked for my money back. The irony of the whole experience was, I wanted to sign up as a member and was only playing to make sure I liked the course. Obviously, I won't be joining after that experience.
Needs some TLC
Course we play every year around Christmas. Seems like conditions have worsened in last 12 month's. Some dead spots in fairways, a lack of sand in bunkers and way to many ball mark dead spots on greens. Staff is friendly and the layout is fun.
Staff still have a way to go
Played this course a few years ago and staff was awful. Decently fun and well maintained course though so we went back. We were the second group of the day out and they put a 5 some out ahead of us. Staff friendliness was slightly better but still the worst of any course around by a mile. Course is in good shape.
Worst experience of golf I have ever endured
If you feel like being herded like cattle and treated like you’re at the registry of motor vehicles or harassed by the rangers this is the course for you! I will never ever go back here and I truly recommend you don’t either...
Nice Layout - Good Conditions
I had played this course more than 10 years ago for a corporate event, so it was as new to me.
I was surprised how busy it was, not normal this time of year in SFL, specially at 1:30 PM. I was told that is normal there.
Facilities still have the Private Country club feeling, without the price tag. Actually, with Premier card, great value.
Course is in excellent conditions. Nice layout. A lot of ondulations, both on the Fairways and the greens. It was someone challenging due to the newness and the wind. Otherwise I think it would be average in regards to difficulty.
Walking is not allowed. That is a shame.
The only downside was that as busy as it was, in front of us there was an elderly couple that played pretty bad, with a young woman that was learning how to play, and a Pro giving her playing lessons. What was the Pro thinking?! Shouldn't a real Pro or any golfer for that matter, know that Golf is not teached to beginners at the course, especially when it's so busy. And the first lessons should be etiquette: Keep up or pickup. slower players let faster players (any group that day) play through. C'mon. an ofcourse, not a ranger around. which might not had make a difference if the one with the group was the Pro.
Heard a lot.....
Ive been golfing for a little over 2 years and always heard I need to play Deer Creek (DC). Finally went out there with my South Florida PGA Pass card and got a rate for $35 which is fair for summer.
Putting green, chipping green, driving range were all exceptional.
Pace of play was horrific, Went out as a 2 some and got stuck behind a 4 some for the entire round. No ranger to come out and have them pic up pace of play.
Course was a little brown, but that's due to no rain....no worries there.
Lots of hilly fairways and difficult greens.
Thought the layout was OK and some of the tee boxes looked like a local dump thats about to be sold to a housing developer in a. few months.
They charge enough year round that they should have an exceptional course. I look at an equivalent course (Jacaranda) and Jacaranda blows DC out of the water.
Decent track and I would go back, but if there is another deal for the same price.....I would probably go to another course.
Excellent course
Second time playing this track and the conditions were just perfect. Tough course with very well manicured greens. Cant wait to come back
Descent course - valet/snack shop poor
Reservations process was good with email confirmation. Our arrival was poor. The valet at noon 6/16 was not helpful. Didn't seem like he wanted to valet our car. Same when we left. He got the car quick but didn't offer to load the bags. The snax shop had a sign at 12.15 said closed for 15 minutes while all the staff were in the area just talking. The collars of the greens are in very poor shape, very thin with little grass on many holes and some tee boxes also are in poor shape. The layout is good and posses a challenge.
Excellent course
Beautiful design of each hole, must to think of each shot, greens are perfects, fast. Played after 15h for under 40$, very good quality-price.
Worst staff possible
I have to start with the staff because they were so bad. From the time we arrived I was taken shocked at how little the staff wanted to help. The gentleman inside checking us in was very rude. After saying our tee time and group I asked for a bucket of range balls- without asking he sold me the largest bucket -and the range didn't even open until after our tee time. The starter was not super helpful in where to go to get something for breakfast or coffee, or to point out the chipping green. When I went looking for the range and asked an employee where to find balls they looked at me like I had two heads. Then treated me like an idiot when the said it did not open until 7:30. When we were done our round and went into the 19th hole for a beer the lady there was no friendlier.
The staff really lowered my enjoyment of what was a unique and beautiful course for that part of Florida.
Top-Notch Experience and a Fun Course
Very nice course in good condition. Fast greens with good counters and slope, but not excessive. Nice bunkering and strategic placement of cross bunkers. Decently wide fairways where you can rip your driver but holes are laid out so that you have to think about distance and angles. Water comes into play on a few holes but not penal. Nice challenge, good service, and a fun round.
Great course in all respects
We have been playing this course for years, and it never disappoints! The staff keep you on time and moving - under 4 hours is the expectation and the Grill Room at the end of the round is Outstanding.
Great Easy Fun Course
COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE GRRENS WERE ROLLING GREAT STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY. ONLY KNOCK WAS IT WAS A LITTLE PRICEY
Good Course for the money
The course was in good condition considering all the rain south Florida has received in the past month. There was considerable construction on the adjacent canal that impacted the tee boxes on the front nine. The pace of play was exceptional (3.5 hrs.). The greens were slow but well maintained. The internet green fee special was $29.00 (after 2 p.m.) was fair.
Wonderful all around experience!
I am extremely glad I chose this golf course on my visit to the Fort Lauderdale area. Deer Creek had a very nice staff who were accommodating and very friendly. The greens fees were very reasonable for the caliber of course and experience that you get. The course and grounds were well maintained and very clean. The course itself is a nice test for all skill levels. The greens and fairways were in very good condition. It was crowded on the course, but the pace of play was on time and we only had to wait on a couple holes near the end of the 18. After the round I went to the bar and had the best chicken quesadilla I've ever eaten. I was also paired with two wonderful ladies who were very friendly and made my experience a little more special. This course is a model of how golf courses should be.
I play everyday I love it
Great greens and sand traps. Staff is excellent. Fairways kept in condition. Also great pga pros there too
