Fox Hopyard Golf Club

First three times playing FH the conditions were great, recently played and conditions were deteriorating.. Have played quite a few courses this year and because of all the early rain and warm temps lately the majority of these courses are in top shape, probably the best I've ever seen. Not the case with FH. Many parts of fairways were browned out and burned and concrete greens were chewed to bits with ball marks galore. Hate to come down on this absolute beautiful course but just stating the obvious. Was really surprised at the condition of the course. Don't believe it should take much to get it back up to snuff. Other than the condition, the pace of play was great and staff members pleasant and respectful.

Went as a single, paired up with another single. Played white tees per my partners choice. I would have preferred to play blues, white was just a bit short. However, elevation changes, sloped fairways and subtle movement on the greens still made this a challenging round. Had plenty of risk/reward choices. We were behind two walking threesomes, front was older men, directly ahead was older ladies. They all set up to hit quickly and moved along so our twosome only had to wait a few times. Course was in good shape except for white boxes were a bit worn out - what I would expect for this time of season with the hot weather over the last few weeks and it being the primarily played box. Greens were in great shape. Frequently saw course staff out repairing divots in fairways, watering greens and generally taking care of the course. Pro shop staff were friendly. Only issue I had was, when arriving I was told the group I was supposed to play with had already teed off and I would have to go out as a single (not sure if that meant the three old men or three old ladies). I was there 15 minutes before scheduled tee time. I don’t like playing alone but that’s what often happens when you show up as a single. Luckily another single showed up. Only saw beverage cart once the whole round. $72 to play via hot deal, I think value was good. Will play here again if price is right.

Gabbed a hot deal for a 8am start. Showed up early and was able to get out alone. Perfect!! Never had to wait for the 2 some in front of me. Played 18 in 3 hrs.

I've played here before. Love the course layout, its very challenging. Especially the greens. I was disappointed with the condition of the white tee boxes. It seems that the other tee boxes were in much better shape except for the white tee boxes, they look to be very worn with crab grass.

Played as a threesome pace of play was good,staff were all polite and helpful course was in great condition can never turn down an opportunity to play this course for less than $60

Fox hopyard used to be one of my favorite courses in CT. But they must have fallen on very hard times. Tee boxes need a makeover. Greens are well destroyed. Half the fairways look like someone has been off road big on them.

This is another CT course that will fail due to the hostile economic conditions of CT

My group got a great Saturday evening price $49. The course was beautiful other than a handful of tee boxes. Pace was great with no pressure from in front or behind.

2nd time playing this course, first time was 2 years ago. It was as I remembered- fun and challenging. Great conditions, beautiful layout. Great staff and amenities. I am a member of another course in the area, but love coming to this course and will definitely be back again.

So many shots on so many different elevations. Ball always above or below your feet. Greens brutally fast & not enjoyable

Not many courses over an hour away that are on my yearly list, but Fox Hopyard will forever be one of them. The staff, grounds, conditions and amenities are second to none. Add in Free range balls plus a great putting and wedge practice area, and you got yourself a day. Stop by On the Rocks for some food or drink after, bartenders are great! Book yourself a round, you won’t be disappointed

My first visit to the course left me impressed. It's a good challenge that makes you think about how to approach every hole. Dog legs par 5s that require positional appoach to reach the greens. Course was a bit wet due to recent rain, so most of the holes played longer. Looking forward to playing again later this year.
