The second, par-4, 409. A stern, uphill, tee-to-green test on a hole that plays longer than its yardage. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

The fourth hole at Fox Hopyard features a spectacular drop to a raised green whose surface is some 70 feet below this tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Seven. Par-4, 395. Trouble for the unwary. It’s target golf all the way to the narrow green, but nonetheless a fine hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Fourteen (224). Another strong par-3 here. You’ll need an excellent tee shot to find the surface. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Eighteen, par-5, 551. My playing partner rips a drive up the fairway. This robust finisher will put your skill to the test. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Eighteen, as seen from across the pond, near the entry drive. A ribbon of fairway; a green set hard by the water. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Fox Hopyard CC still very playable
I just completed a round of golf at the Fox Hopyard Country Club in East Haddam, Connectixut. The course was in fantastic condition considering it is the end of November and closing in on Winter. The tees, fairways and greens were in great shape. The bunkers were thin and hard because if the cold weather, but overall, I had a very enjoyable round of golf. The Pro Shop staff is very frinedly, and we enjoyed a quick stop at the 19th hole after our round. This is a challenging course but playable for all skill levels. If you live in Connecticut or are traveling through Southern Connecticut, you will enjoy the experience.
this is a great Golf Course
Play the course yesterday it's in phenomenal shape highly recommend this cost to anybody that's around Mohegan Sun area superb course great layout
Slow round
All the elements were aligned for a perfect round, but it ended up taking almost 5 hours. Staff was initially attentive to our complaints.... but nothing happened, no marshals in sight during the back nine. A premium course like Fox Hopyard should be more attentive to pace of play. Course is in great shape, the fall colors are beautiful. The 19 hole restaurant is always a welcome refuge after a round.
Foxhopyard Golf Course
I grew up in CT and played alot of nice courses. Never played the Foxhopyard Golf Course in East Haddam CT and never knew existed. I decided to take the Orient Point ferry to New London CT and 40 minutes from the Foxhopyard Golf Course. The moment I pulled up to the course. Thought I was playing mountain golf. Not the case. The resteraunt On Top Of The Rock's was great on the Hill of views and walking down to the pro shop! Included bucket of range balls and course worth 63 on a hot deal not 100.00. Staff very pleasant in all departments and very nice and great service. Wish the weather was better but can't control that. The Course has 3 styles in one. Vermont and North Carolina and Ireland as well. Very pretty views! The course is diffult from all tees. Alot of cabbage where you have to shoot over that stuff and alot of creeks and water as well. Greens are challenging very hilly and tuff too read. Double check twice before putting. Only thing I can knock the course was. Not knowing the greens had been punched recently. But except it for this time of year. Definely a must play on your buck list of courses.
Feels like a Resort Course, Scenic, but.....
Excellent conditions, absolutely beautiful setting, beautiful clubhouse and buildings etc... (what you would expect for $100 greens fee). Played on a Wed. afternoon on a $55 Hot Deal, which is really the only way I'd play here. Although extremely well kept the course is loaded with waste areas and spots you have to carry to score. I'm not a short hitter (13 handicap) but it's still annoying and gets old. A bunch of 'target' golf, figuring out if you can hit driver or not b/c several holes you basically have to lay up from station to station etc... The course plays pretty long, even from the whites and the slope is way off in my opinion, as it's not an easy track. Worth a visit though on a hot deal for sure. Was empty for our midweek round, played in 3.5 hrs.

Not worth the money if you pay over $80 in the weekend for course lay out, condition compares to Cumpin-Fox if both run n owed by the same owner.
Greens
Greens were not in the best shape compared to other
times I've played here.
Value not there
The layout is great but the conditioning was awful. They punched the greens earlier in the week and added a LOT of sand. Greens were awful. Also - there were grass clippings on every hole. Could hardly find my ball in the middle of the fairway. Also - every fairway yardage marker differed from my handheld by 10-15 yards. On EVERY hole. Very strange.... the course is priced for the wealthy but it plays like a low price daily...
Often too pricey
This Is a well-designed golf course that sometimes stubbornly won't cut a nice deal. We all like nice courses, but the management should trim prices a bit more often
Golf with College buddies
Great day together to catch up and share some good and bad shots on a good New England style course. Weather was hot and play a little slow but pace was ok.
Best public course in state
Year after year this is the best public course in state of Ct. Great price but worth it no matter what you pay compared to others who charge more and don't stand up to the Fox.
had been in years
hadn't played here in years, had left the last time focused on the "gimmicks" (seriously downhill par 3, a sense of lots of carries off the tee). This time, I didn't notice them. Enjoyed the round, got around as a single in about 3.5 hours. Enjoyed the layout, even the holes I had complained about. nice views, in good condition. will come back sooner than later.
Very challenging course
Great course design and offers challenging holes for all levels of players
Great but demanding layout, a bit pricey
Have played before, always enjoy the challenge. With deep rough and unforgiving forested areas bordering most holes, the course requires accuracy. Overall in good condition with some greens having patchy areas.
