The second, par-4, 409. A stern, uphill, tee-to-green test on a hole that plays longer than its yardage. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

The fourth hole at Fox Hopyard features a spectacular drop to a raised green whose surface is some 70 feet below this tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Seven. Par-4, 395. Trouble for the unwary. It’s target golf all the way to the narrow green, but nonetheless a fine hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Fourteen (224). Another strong par-3 here. You’ll need an excellent tee shot to find the surface. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Eighteen, par-5, 551. My playing partner rips a drive up the fairway. This robust finisher will put your skill to the test. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

Eighteen, as seen from across the pond, near the entry drive. A ribbon of fairway; a green set hard by the water. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/21/2021

One of the nicer CT courses
It has matured nicely since I played it as a newer course years ago.Quick fair greens, fairly open fairways...a few of the holes especially the par 3s play at least an extra 10 -20 yards longer
Beautiful, challenging but very playable gem in CT
After playing Fox Hopyard’s sister course (Crumpin Fox) the previous day we once again were looking forward to another high quality round of golf. The course did not disappoint. Immaculate fairways and greens define Fox and the staff takes great care to keep them that way. They all were very friendly and welcoming.
The course can play long but we found the fairways very forgiving and made approach shots to the greens to be very positive. The greens were tremendous in how they rolled but don’t get caught taking them for granted or they will get you. The trouble on this course is trying to attack it from the tee…if you are a bit off you will pay dearly.
You pay a bit more to play here but you get a lot more as well. It is worth the price and the travel. Did not stay to eat but they appear to have a very nice restaurant as well.
One of the best
Excellent layout with a wide variety of holes. Great amenities. Free range balls. Top notch course. The price is a little steep if you don't find a deal.
This course has a great layout and is challenging.
The course has a great club house , driving range and dining. The course is in great shape and is challenging compared to most of the courses in the eastern part of the state. I enjoy playing the course .
Great layout but fairways could be better
I've been playing here for several years, unfortunately the condition of the fairways has declined in that time. The layout is one of the best in the state and the course is challenging. Nice grass driving range, small chipping area and large putting green. Tee times are easy to get at most times as I doesn't appear that they get that much non member play.
It's always a great experience here!
This is the nicest course in our area. Beautiful scenery, great layout, well cared for, there's really nothing to complain about except for the rain that day. We had a friend with us from Denmark that thought the course was fabulous.
Service was slow in the restaurant (which wasn't busy at all) but the meal was good.
Great course
I got a really good deal to play on golf now app. It's a bit pricey if you don't use some kind of promotion. The course was recently aerated so the greens were slow and bumpy but the lay out of the course is very nice and it's a pleasure to play!
Great layout
Only reason not 5 stars was they had just aerated and sanded the greens. Everything else was great especially my playing partners including a member who told us all the tips and tricks
Fox Hopyard
We paid $49 for 18 and a cart. Without GolfNow the price would be double. This course is always in the top 1 or 2 in CT public courses. Our tee time was for 1 pm but the starter let us out early. We were offered complimentary range balls but declined. Electric Carts worked VERY well. Great Restaurant. Great views. Course was still 'growing' from the winter season break. A must try for any golfer. 5 sets of tees. Drinking water at 6 spots on the course.
February in April
It was cool and cloudy, not a very crowded day. Before I started my round , they told me that the greens were just fertilized and rolling very slow. It took me about three holes to adjust to the speed. They are normally quick with a true roll. It was just a practice round for me so it didn't matter. Looking forward to going back when the greens are in better shape.
Fantastic course
What a fantastic course. Challenging, undulating with different elevations and in very good shape for the time of year we played. Would highly recommend to anyone as they will thoroughly enjoy.
A bid disappointed
This course had a great layout, but for the price, the fairways had tons of burnt spots and many of the greens had the same. I can see why there were not a lot of players there for what gets billed as a premium course in CT. For $100 + greens fees, the course should be in way better shape.
Worth the drive
Like Crumpin' Fox, this course is tucked away from everything and is worth the trip. 18 distinctive holes, each with it's own character. Great par 3's, 4's, and 5's. There are some blind shots and strategic layups required. Because of the hills, the course plays long and there are enough forced carries to keep your attention. This is a worthy sister course.
Outstanding Course but very expensive
Everything about this course is outstanding excpet the price (but you do get what you pay for). Tremendous layout, very challenging and always excellent conditions. Bar / restaurant patio is worth the trip alone.
Great Course
This is a great course! Probably my favorite that Golf Now offers in my area. I play Oak Lane, Oxford Greens, Tradition Wallingford, Laurel View, Woodbridge CC and Lyman Orchard courses. Fox Hopyard is definitely the best course out of all those. I only found a deal on this course once and was happy I jumped on it!
