Guavaberry Golf & Country Club

About
Guavaberry Golf & Country Club is blended into the landscape bordering a tropical forest and nature preserve on the sunny southeast coast of the Dominican Republic. The Gary Player design team took advantage of the tropical flora, blue skies and consistent Caribbean breezes.
The golf course challenges players with its impressive waste bunkers, deep sand traps and indigenous coral rock formations that rise up from lush fairways. The 13th hole includes a waterfall cascading into a quarry pond, and the 18th has a massive coralline garden on the right flank, with the fairway tilting precariously in that direction as well.
Guavaberry Golf & Country Club measures 7,156 yards from the black championship tees

Great for a weekend round
This course plays longer than the golf courses I have played before. I found myself using my long irons and fairways a lot more while playing this course.
It is overall a good course and will reward long-hitting players. It was very interesting to see a par 3 with two greens though I was told by the caddie they no longer use the left green.
A par 3 with two greens a rare highlight
To be honest, the only thing I recall about playing this Gary Player design was how blistering hot it was during my August round in the mid-2000s and how cool the 13th hole was. Player designed two greens to be rotated daily for play at the par-3 13th hole. Both are separated by a stream that cascades 2,000 gallons of water minute off the rock wall into a lake in the bottom of the quarry. It's a nice touch on an otherwise slightly better than average jungle layout.
