Palmilla Golf Club - The Arroyo/Mountain Course
About
Overlooking the Sea of Cortez, the One&Only Palmilla Golf Club offers a stunning 27-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course is divided into three nines that are named after the defining features of their landscape. They are played in three different 18-hole combination, providing golfers with a different experience on the front and back nines. The Arroyo/Mountain Course has the most dramatic elevation changes of the three golf courses and also some of the best views. The seventh hole on the front nine proves "Arroyo" to be an apt name for the course. This 560-yard hole plays alongside one that is deep and intimidating. The back nine, the Mountain Course, is a diverse layout with holes of varying lengths as well as plenty of sand and water.

The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
Ocean course a bit disappointing
Played mountain and ocean courses. Ocean course was more mountainous actually. Played Bajamar up by Ensenada many years ago....THAT. Is an ocean course.
Overall Palmilla was just a little overhyped in my opinion.
Better be able to get off the tee
Gorgeous course, well kept, nice people. I played mountain/ocean for the gold tee box, a little over 6600. I think all holes had at least 50 to 175 yards carry. I am a 15 handicap, not a long hitter and found the course very challenging but fair. Definitely play it again but probably move up a tee box.
I was expecting more from the clubhouse.
This course has challenging holes but is fair for average golf ears
This course was is excellent shape. The greens were a little firm but running true when you picked the right putting line. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The views on the ocean course are great.
Long Hitters only
Beautiful views, great condition Most tees other than red and white require a significant carry over desert or baranca to get to fairway, and sometimes to the green
Overall wonderful experience
was worth the money
Great practice facility and the course was in great shape. Youget a yardage book at the start and pay careful attention to the yardage as some tee boxes need the right club or you will fly the farway if the shotis not shaped right. Clubhouse is small like most I've seen so far here. Just a pro shop and small canteen. Nice clean washroom as well.
Beautiful course
Palmilla was absolutely beautiful aesthetically. Staff VERY friendly and attentive. Not overly difficult to play which
I find enjoyable for "vacay" golf...did not get beat up, yet was challenged enough!
Excellence in resort golf
The course has a great compliment of difficulty without being unfair. There are many of bunkers, however, they are placed to defend the greens, but to not deter you from making a good approach shot. The greens rolled very well. Traps could be more uniform, some were great sand, however there were some that were more like dirt than sand. Tees and fairways and greens were in great shape.
A good challenge for any level player
I am female and played the white tees on the Mountain/Ocean courses and had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. The course assistant at the range before play shared some helpful insights as to the roll of the greens in Cabo. A little pricey even for a resort, but enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at check-in, the scenic views and the beautiful landscaping. Course in very good condition.
Very good, but expensive
As is true for most all golf in Cabo, IT IS EXPENSIVE! Palmilla is a great desert golf course. Try to include the ocean 9 into your round, spectacular!
Course with some great views
We played the Ocean/ Arroyo combo. It wasn't too busy. Especially on the second 9 we were pretty much on our own. The Ocean 9 had some stunning views.
Very good course
Palmilla is a very well maintained course with numerous challenges yet it plays very fairly and is a good value in Los Cabos. We had a bit of a mixup wherein our tee time we booked on Golf Now was not valid on their system and pushed our tee time back about 40 minutes.
We did not have the booking receipt so we accepted this fate and had lunch and some extra practice. After the round a quick discussion with the manager and a follow-up email, our entire fee was refunded which we thought very generous.
Troon golf shows their class and that they care about their customers. We will make sure we play Troon golf courses in the future when that option is available.
Great Ocean Views
This is one of the nicest courses I played on this trip.
Greens are very fast and takes some getting use to. Course is in excellent condition
Wonderfull course
It's really good course, amazing view. a little bit challenging, and well maintained. I like to play again here.
Golf in Cabo, what problem could there be?
Just a wonderful day of golf. Played the Mountain & Ocean Courses (9 holes each). I am a High handicapper, but the course is laid out nicely for all handicaps. Bottom line is: You're golfing, so who really cares. Highly reccommended.
Great views, nice course.
The only drawback to the course is the price. Shopping around on Golf Now and taking a very early tee time made it an ok deal. Course is well maintained and fair.
Palmilla - still one of the stars of Cabo
I've played Palmilla a couple times over the years (the most recent in 2012) and it never disappoints. This was the first foray of Jack Nicklaus into Los Cabos way back in 1992 and still one of the destination's best golf experiences.
Troon Golf runs the 27-hole club with the same level of service and standards of the famed One&Only Palmilla across the street. The mountain nine's fifth hole, a treacherous canyon-hopping par 4, might be the most difficult hole in Los Cabos. The Ocean nine, added in 2007, drops 600 feet in elevation during the first six holes with the third green perched on the beach. My favorite loop is the Ocean-Mountain nine, although any combination is a good one.
This course was great for everyone!
We played the Ocean and Arroyo courses and it was awesome! Great conditions, scenery and a variety of challenges. Will play it again when we come back!
Wonderful Day of Golf
I've played several course in Cabo including Cabo de Sol as well as Cabo Real. Palmilla for the money value is tops in the area. I would highly recommend. The Mountain course is challenging, yet fun. The Ocean Course was fairly easy with beautiful scenary.
The course was in Excellent Shape...
VERY ENJOYABLE ROUND OF GOLF. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great time
I paid a little extra to play this course based on a hotel recommendation and was not disappointed! Well worth the $150 for twilight golf including club rental. Course plays very fair with front tees available for high handicappers and back tees with lots of forced carries for low handicappers. The holes on the ocean course are amazing with one green right on the sandy beach with amazing views. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a round to remember.
