Palmilla Golf Club - The Ocean/Arroyo Course

About
Jack Nicklaus designed the 27-hole course at the One&Only Palmilla Golf Club. The golf course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The courses wind through endless cacti and through deep arroyos, a landscape that Nicklaus fully utilized. He gave each a unique character, naming them after their defining characteristics. The Ocean/Arroyo Course starts you off with incredible views of the shimmering blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Each hole on the front nine offers a different, but equally scenic view of the ocean. The gently sloping Ocean nine has large greens that can be tricky but they are balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The back nine features more dramatic elevation changes, especially on the intimidating 16th hole, which plays alongside a deep and foreboding arroyo.

The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
Beautiful Palmilla
We played this course yesterday and before that 6 years prior. The course is beautiful and has done challenging holes, especially on the Arroyo Mountain course! Hole 3 on the Ocean course is probably my favorite all time hole for its beauty! Palmilla has added wonderful comfort stations since we were here last and the staff is alway friendly and accommodating!
Greens are poor
Course was great, but the greens were not good.
Probably the time of year. Overall 8/10
First time playing Palmilla
I had never played golf in Cabo so Palmilla was my first round. Great experience! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, practice range was included as was two comfort stations where you could get anything you want to eat or drink. Course was difficult for me but fun and in great shape. Will definitely be back on my next trip to Cabo. $133 on the GN app.
Palmilla my favorite Cabo course
Palmilla is an amazing golf experience. The staff are amazing. Javier remembers me even though I only visit the area once a year, but I make sure I play 3-4 times while visiting. The course is impeccable even after ma major storm event. I am already looking forward to my next visit
Green’s Slow and spotty
A new Clubhouse is under construction and your introduction to the course is dusty and a bit chaotic.
The greens were very slow and patchy with some burnt areas and crabgrass growing in.
Traps were very stony and not consistent.
The overall impression of the course is that it is a bit tired and had its best days several years ago. A refresh is NEEDED!
On the bright side, the two stations for refreshment and food on course were exceptional and the views of the ocean on the course are majestic. Employees were generally friendly, and and helpful✔️
Great Time
The course was well maintained and pace of play was excellent.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Played Oceon/Mountain. It was off season so it was easy to get a booking a day before we played.
It was one of the better courses we played during our trip.
Disappointed
The majority of the greens had bare spots and the fairways were brown. For a course with this reputation, hot good.
Disappointed
I’ve been traveling to Cabo since the early 2000’s and knew Palmilla was one of the top or top golf venues. I was excited to play it. I understand they are building a new club house and the check in area is a bit confused. The golf course staff I had interaction with was less than friendly none went out of their way to help, unlike other courses I played this week. The practice area tees were either crabgrass ridden or sparsely grassed. The practice green also had crabgrass. The golf courses I played were Arroyo and Mountain as Ocean was closed. The fairways were mostly brown and most of the greens had varying degrees of barren spots. I cannot in good conscience recommend this golf course currently as there are many others in much better condition for the same price point.
Great golf course
Played mountain and arroyo. Both interesting, but mountain course is beautiful. Even the greens. The mountain round has perfect greens. Arroyo’s round still has various greens in recovery.
Definitely will play it again soon.
Not as plush as it once was.
The Arroyo/Mountain combo was only available. They're working on the Ocean (9 holes) because next year they're going private. From tee to green, I give it a 5 out of 10. Tee boxes needed new grass and leveling. Every fairway had many burn spots, bunkers were packed sand and the greens had crab grass growing, bald spots or the cut wasn't even. Sorry to say, we're crossing Pamilla off the list.
Incredible day!
We booked for later afternoon. Got there early. Checked in and went to the practice range. Then it was off to the course! Loved the complimentary beverages and snacks midway. Such a wonderful day with my family!
Palmilla
They now have All Inclusive food and drinks while you play. You have access to drinks and food every 4th hole. Staff was friendly. Awesome time!!!
Not the greatest conditions for the price
I have played here many time before but it has fallen off my go to list. Too many dried out conditions in the fairways and the greens were mostly in horrible conditions. They claim to be going private with the completion of their new clubhouse…….good luck with that 😳
A Perfect Round of Golf
I would absolutely recommend Palmilla to anybody. While the prices are steep (my round was probably the very cheapest round you can possibly get at $128, which I lucked into due to a low-season dusk rate) the course had all-inclusive amenities, including a gorgeous mid-round stand between holes four and five that has everything from popsicles to beer to snacks to frozen margaritas. The staff is incredibly friendly, and more than happy to help you with any questions or needs that you have. The course is beautiful, challenging (but still manageable for a high-handicap golfer), and well-maintained (even in the hot Cabo summer). I would recommend it to anybody who asks!
