Dissapointed with the course
Vidanta in general is an amazing complex of hotels and ammenities. Nevertheless, it seems that they have chopped and stitched the Nayar Course to acomodate new building. It is quite clear that the course has closeed some holes and improvised new ones.
The way the course is drawn, feels extrange and it is quite easy. Not to many challenges.
I was actually dissapointed.
Atypical layout
The course layout is very bad. 2-3 holes here, 4-5 holes there with very long distances in between. Not fun because rhythm is lost. One of the main jobs of the caddy was to guide us through this labyrinth.
Nayar course
The course is all chopped up due to the Mexican Open. I bought a twilight rate but not many people were playing so the pro shop said we could go. When we got there one of the course workers I believe named Daniel told us we couldn’t go after we had permission. The guy was an egomaniac. After a heated discussion he gave me his permission to go. Don’t think I’ll ever play there again.
Look for a better option.
We played while the Norman course was being prepped for the Mexico Open. Many holes were shortened due to the tee boxes being moved to the fairway. The back nine had sanded greens on every hole. None of this information was given prior to the round and we were charged full price. Course conditions were fair-not great. Caddy was nice but not necessary.
distance a parcourir
Terrain impossible a marcher beaucoup trop long entre les trous
We didn’t start our tee time on tine and we believe that another group was “snuck in” between the 2:00 and the 2:08 group, so that really slowed up play and the group that did get snuck in did not keep pace, that was frustrating as we just barely could finish our round.
The greens were a bit chewed up or diseased, very hard to stick a ball.
Skip it
Very confusing layout and really boring resort course. Not worth it even for a ~$75 price. Spend more and play a different course in the area or the Norman course instead.
A couple things about Nayar. You drive probably 7 miles total: long distances between certain holes. Cross the river and back, and just some really weird and non-intuitive layouts. They make you take a caddy, party just so you don’t get lost between holes! The course itself is super boring. Easy. If that’s your thing, maybe it’s good to play. But really there’s only 2-3 interesting holes. The rest are completely forgettable.
And super important to know about Vidanta. Especially if you’re not staying there, the check in process is a huge pain in the butt. Check in at the gate, get a wristband. Park or get dropped off at the shuttle station. Wait for the shuttle. Get shuttled to the pro shop. Wait in line with everyone getting off the shuttle. Take a cart to the range (long drive). Warm up area. Check in again. Take a cart to the course (another long drive). And that’s if it all goes smoothly. For me they steered me 30 minutes after my tee time because they ran out of carts at the range and I just had to wait half an hour.
Overall, really disappointing experience. Only saving grace was I only paid under $70 for the round.
The course is very spread out
They need to give more information on the mandatory caddies and price we where 30 minutes late because they didn’t have enough caddies
The coarse is very spread out
There should be a better notification for the caddies letting people know it is mandatory and how much getting in and out is very difficult
Great conditions
The course is in great shape, great fairways, fast greens.
We ended up with the most junior caddies that was not really helpful. We knew what we were doing anyway but felt like we had to pay extra for little added value service.
We’ll come back anyway as it was one amongst many rounds but give the feedback so the club does some validation work in caddy qualifications.
Easy and flat
We were required (no choice) to take a caddy although we had a golfcar
Layout of the course was strange, some holes were kilometers apart
Play were slow
Greens were good
Sand were difficult (compact)
Generally enjoy the round and the nice weather
