Good not excellent
Played here twice this week and enjoyed both rounds. Great facilities and caddies (mandatory one per foursome). Stayed on site and teed off early so had no issues with getting started. There is a good mix of holes but it is very apparent that the course has been cobbled together from different times and architects (with different types of grasses used - at least three varieties). As I understand it, only half of the original Nicklaus layout remains intact, which is why his name is no longer associated with the track. Redevelopment at Vidanta removed several of the original holes and shortened it to a par 70. It does feel like a patchwork quilt, especially the front 9. Conditions were pretty good, although not as consistent as the Norman course.
Great conditions, playable for all levels
It was a good price through Golfnow! The course was in excellent condition. Very playable for all levels! It would be nice to have the option to have a caddy or not. Being it was was my first time playing this course, it was very helpful.
I'd rather play the Norman signature again
Enjoyed the course but I prefer playing the Norman course. The back 9 was a mix of challenging and easy holes. The 18th hole was a par 3 - I prefer to end with a par 4 or par 5. The Nayar course is less challenging than the Norman course. It was weird that the one of the holes on the front 9 was a long distance between green to tee box.
Great layout and conditions.
Our caddy, Campo, was fantastic. The course was in fantastic condition and the layout was fairly wide open which makes it fun for less experienced golfers. We had a lot of fun and would recommend to everyone however it is an expensive round unless you can find a deal. Overall it was a great experience and we are playing a archive round tomorrow on the Norman course. I look forward to it.
Long on time. Short on carts and range balls.
Golf ought not be an ordeal. We arrived and waited 25 minutes for a shuttle. After a 15 minute ride we waited to pay. We then waited 20 minutes for golf carts. After getting to the range our carts were taken away. We had to then wait for range balls to become available at the range. Then we had to wait for carts. The caddy is mandatory and necessary. There is no possibility of finding your way from green to the next tee without one. The signage is unhelpful or not there. The course is incoherent with one par five less than 400 yards. The greens are inconsistent. The food cart has no protein but plenty of alcohol. Give this place a pass.
Nice flat tourist track
Greens are fast
Nice course to score low on
Lots of nice view
Great wide fairways to drive the ball down
Nightmare in Nayarit
To start it is almost impossible to find this course even-though I had been here before. Once there nobody could be bothered to greet me or tell me where to park. Nobody would tell me where to drop off your clubs. Found parking eventually but took me a while even-though I do speak some Spanish and asked several people whose responses were leas than helpful. If parking is this convoluted maybe a valet service could be offered. There was enough staff standing around doing nothing.
After searching and finally finding what I thought was the parking lot I walked back to no greeting or explanation of what to do. There was several staff but they did not care to explain what to do to get to the clubhouse.
Once there and signed in you are told you have to pay $20 USD for a caddy. Which is fine but tell people upfront. Where is that mentioned on Golf Now?
The course layout on the Nayar course is ridiculous. Holes 6-8 were located literally a mile or more from the rest of the course.
On the back nine it looked like the holes had not been changed in a long time.
The caddie was minimally helpful and not overly friendly.
With the exception of the people who took my money nobody at this course was welcoming. Message received and I will not return.
Excellent course
Played the Nayar course at Vidanta today. Had an excellent round. The course was a little dry but played well and had a good time with friends. We will be back.
Nice venue once you get there
Enjoyed the course. It was in good condition and quite playable. Caddie Eduardo quite helpful. Would definitely go back. Of the four course I played the two at Vindanta were in the best shape and most enjoyable. Grass was green and not dried out.
Only issue I had was getting there. You can only access this and the Norman course thru the main Vindanta entrance off Rte 200 not from Nararit Blvd.
Also allow at least 30 minutes before tee time as you have to take shuttle to course.
Otherwise enjoy the scenery.
Course is great - hard to get to
The actual golf course is lovely and easy to play. However, the address on Golf Now is completely wrong since the renovations at Vidanta. You must enter through the main gate of Vidanta off of the highway, then park and take a shuttle to the pro shop then another shuttle to hole 1. The Golf Now price was great BUT caddies are mandatory at 700 pesos each so that adds another $40USD to the cost of the round. Allow yourself at least 40 minutes from arriving at the Vidanta Gate until you ride 2 shuttles before your tee off time.
Disappointed
Course was very beautiful, staff friendly for the positive. Disappointed for a few reasons. There was a very bad house fire on the course which caused our game to be held up and re routed. Hopefully everyone is ok!! That is the main thing. We were held up and then re routed to another part of the course. I said maybe we should come back?? We ended up playing several different holes and not in order and missed out on 3 of the holes. The fire was of course out of their control . At the end we tipped the caddy very well then he told us his service was 800 pesos. We were not told about a caddy charge. Service for the shuttle to the course was late by 30 minutes. It was a very expensive day for us and feel we were short changed of our golf game and should of been offered the option to come back due to the fire.
