Marina Vallarta Golf Club is known for its stunning tropical landscape that is home to an abundance of wildlife. Golfers have the opportunity to play amongst iguanas and alligators while enjoying scenic views of the Bay of Banderas. The course is blessed with a bevy of natural hazards including towering palm trees, lagoons, and waterfalls. Colorful tropical flowers and native vegetation further accent the landscape. In addition to the natural hazards, there are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The golf course offers a challenging but fair test that is not overly demanding, which is probably for the best since it is easy to get distracted by the beautiful surroundings. Given its versatility and scenery, Marina Vallarta G.C. has become a popular venue for various golfing events, including the Governor's Cup Pro/Am Tournament.

Great course with nice features tee boxes and greens are good. Cart patch of paving stones are completly worn out and rough.

I always go to the marina once each trip to PV.

all the other courses in the area are kept better however I just like the layout and difficulty of the Marina. I will not pay full price to play there however the hot deals is the way to go.

Lots of water hazards

Tight layout with water hazards and wildlife. Prices a little high but good value with GolfNow. Greens and the rest of the course in good condition. Close to town so that is good.

Great value from golfnow

Great price for what I have paid from golfnow. But I don't think I would pay full price for this course. During my stay at Puerto Vallarta, I have played at Vista Vallarta (both course), Vidanta (both Norman and Nayar) and they are much better course. But come to think of it, Golfnow should have a better green fee at Marina.

Marina Vallarta

If you’re in PV, play this one. Not the best course in the world but very good. Staff from pro shop to Starters all great people. Course is pretty tight and very well maintained. Greens hard but nice even though it’s been dry. Fairways all in perfect condition.

Watch the palms, they will eat you balls:)

Enjoy

we really enjoyed playing at Marina Vallarta. The staff was super friendly and the course was in decent condition. The rented clubs were not great and extremely over priced.

Cart paths were difficult to drive on.

Good Resort Course

Marina Vallarta is a really fun track with lots of character. The greens were in great condition and ran true at a decent pace. A lot of variety of golf holes with some real beauties, especially the 200yd par-3 13th that runs alongside the beach/ocean. Lots of crocodiles and gators on this course as well which adds to the experience. We paid $57 to play which was a deal that we got from our resort. Definitely worth that price, would pay more if we had to.

Expensive, unfriendly, strange

The course has some positives. The back nine is much nicer than the front. The front is tricked up and runs through many crocodile filled ponds which at first are interesting but then disconcerting. Easy to lose balls if you are not familiar with layout. Staff is awful especially man who tends to carts. He had a bandaged hand. Won’t go back.

Crocs and the Ocean!

My return to Marina Vallarta was a good one. More than 11 years ago, I played the front nine before racing off to catch my flight at the airport that's right next door to the course.

Little did I know how cool the back nine is. These last nine holes are reason alone to play. The course has its own version of Amen Corner once you cross the street to the back portion of the property. Holes 11-13 each deliver something special. No. 11 is called the 'X' hole - a short par 4 named for the two palm tree trunks that criss-cross behind a sloping green guarded by water. Ponds filled with crocodiles pinch either side of the fairway on the par-4 12th. Be careful playing this hole. And finally, the par-3 13th plays directly along a public beach on the Bay of Banderas, providing striking views of Puerto Vallarta in the distance. A few closing holes cut a narrow path through trees on the way back to the clubhouse, where a nice patio and bar beckons for food and drinks.

Some of the traps, cart paths and homes along the course show their age, but overall, Marina Vallarta still rates as a fun place to play. Guests staying nearby at Casa Velas, Velas Vallarta, the Marriott Puerto Vallarta and the Westin Puerto Vallarta can easily walk there. Guests at the adults-only, all-inclusive Casa Velas (like me) can play as often as they wish for the cost of a cart fee ($57 per round). That's a great deal for golf south of the border in high season.
