Vista Vallarta Golf Club - The Nicklaus Course
About
The Nicklaus Course at Vista Vallarta Golf Club is one of two championship courses at the club, the other was designed by Tom Weiskopf. The Nicklaus Course is perched atop the property's highest elevation, offering spectacular views of Puerto Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas. The course tumbles across grassy hillsides covered with dense forests of palms and giant ficus trees. True to Nicklaus' style, the wildly undulating greens are balanced by generous driving areas. He also chose to route the holes along the natural contours of the land, giving each hole a unique character. One of the most talked-about holes on the golf course is the par-5 third, which is ranked as the toughest. This 550-yard monster demands three strong shots in order to make it onto the elevated green in regulation, but the tricky part is that the elevation rises a bit more with each shot.

Golf in Mexico
A very enjoyable course that challenges you and at the same time provides you with the opportunity to have fun.
Confirm conditions first
Fairways mostly pretty good, but recent rains washed out virtually all bunkers which where unplayable. And isn't Nicklaus course known for bunker challenge?
Sand washed away and several filled with deep standing water. I lost a ball in one because the water was so spread across and so deep! Ha ha! Shouldn't have tried to clear the bunker in first place. Greens good but furry and slow.
jungle golf course
There is no hotels or houses..just awesome to be there and play..very expensive but not too bad thanx to golf now...play there every year I visit from Canada..everyone there trees you special..
Best Course that I played while in PV
Played the Norman, Weiskopf and Nicklaus course, of the three the Nicklaus course was in the best condition and the most forgiving. Generous fairways and approachable greens. Did not get a chance to play the Nicklaus course at Vidanta but I understand that it is also a very nice course. If I paid $100.00 or more to play a course in the U.S. the condition of the course would be perfect, not the case with all of PV courses. They charge double to triple what they would be worth in the U.S. Playing golf in the PV area is somewhat expensive compared to the courses back in the U.S
Vista Vallarta Nicklaus Course
Good value if you get the deal through Golf Now, paid half price
Great Course
Played the Nicklas. Great conditions. Perfect day for golf. From our resort, the cab ride was about $200 pesos. Definitely book through golfnow.
Jungle golf
Jungle golf meaning you're playing up in the hills amongst trees and beautiful scenery. We played the Nickalus course. Great condition throughout. Worth the GolfNow rate. I don't think it's worth the $190 regular rate. Not sure why the golf courses charge so much...when they could be full every day with a fair daily rate. Plus the income in the pro shop, beverage cart and restaurant. Staff are always friendly and helpful. We'll be back!!!!
Great Course & View
We played the Championship Course. The Greens were challenging. Get a caddie and you shouldn't three putt. Carlos was a great caddie. At least 3 times I would have read the break the wrong way.
Course was in good shape. Worth the GolfNow discount price. Not worth the full rate.
Great place to play in Puerto Vallarta. Worth the $80 GolfNow discount, but wouldn't be worth a $160 rate.
Went on a Monday when Cruise ships were not in town and there was hardly anyone on the course. Course was is good shape. Was surprised that a few of the fairways had mucho weeds. Overall the greens, t-boxes, and fairways were in good shape. Nice driving range. Frequent visits from the cart with food and drinks. Course offers ice chests with drinks @ the clubhouse. Cabs hang out at the course to give you a ride back into town.
Beautiful and great value at $90.
The course is interesting and very picturesque. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The drive of 45 minutes from downtown is definitely worth it, much nicer course then the sister course at the Marina.
the course is great but the staff is weak---they should be happy to see customers
staff a joke---they even had the courage to charge for bottled water----troon golf sould manage this one---it has potentail but is a poor representative of mexican hospitality---termeinate the reception staff----this is the second time that they did not have our reservation on their system---are they not hooked up----then they ask if you have a coupon---sad sad sad!
Must play if you are in Puerto Vallarta
Excellent and challenging course in great condition. If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta you will defiantly want to play this course. The price is a bit steep but for a one time experience it is defiantly worth it’s price considering the quality and design of the course. I played the last day of July so still in summer season and I was literally the only one playing there. I was able to play two balls per hole without any interruptions so definitely got my money’s worth. The course is located in the hillsides of Puerto Vallarta and you are presented with spectacular views of the city and bay. I stayed at the Crystal resort close to the center and it took me about 25 minutes to get to the course by taxi. Service was great and everybody was very friendly.
