The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Wild Burro/Saguaro
About
Nestled in the desert foothills of the Tortolita Mountain Range, the 27 holes at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain feature dramatic elevation changes and stunning views. The three nines were all designed by Jack Nicklaus and are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Wild Burro/Saguaro golf course combines Nicklaus' favorite nine, Wild Burro, with the front nine of the Accenture Match Play Championship. The golf course features intricately contoured greens and carefully placed fairway bunkers. The course plays through canyons and desert washes covered in centuries-old Saguaro cacti. The third, fourth and fifth holes on the Wild Burro nine are notably challenging with the third featuring an "island green" standing amidst sand and cacti.

Could be better
If I had purchased directly from the course, it would have cost me $200+ for 18 holes. Though the setting is beautiful and the fairways are in good shape, the greens are diseased and need help. In addition, we ordered food at the 8th hole, per the GPS tablet (which is awesome) and when we pulled up after the 9th hole, we found out the food wasn't available. The off course amenities don't match the level of a Ritz course.
Quiet and scenic
One of the most peaceful rounds I have ever played. Gorgeous views on every hole. Played as a single and got lucky. Never saw another group all day. Had the place to myself.
Wonderful course
Fantastic course but extremely challenging from tee to green. Don't expect low scores and bring extra balls. I'm a 7 handicapper and shot well above this indicator despite hitting decent shots.
Jack Nicklaus made the greens extremely tough. If you are not hitting the ball straight it can be a long day on this course.
Beautiful course/design
My family of 4 played on Xmas day. The course layout is outstanding. Wide enough fairways to handle moderately off line tee shots. Somewhat challenging but not too tough -perfect for vacation golf. We had a great time. There was a skeleton staff there, but it was Xmas thus very understandable. The burger restaurant attached to the property was a great find as well. We stayed the week at the adjacent hotel.
Not the quality or detail we’d expect at that type of couse
Nobody at the bag drop, carried our clubs to a cart. No towels in the men’s bathroom, had to ask fir balls at the driving range, no sand/seed in the tubes on the carts, nobody there to clean clubs afterwards. Guess they don’t care about customer service.
For $120 I expected more
For the price the greens were in absolute terrible shape. Played at silverbell (the city course) on 12/24/20 and the greens there were in better shape then dove mountain! I had to putt across dirt patches on the free 4-5 times. Yea the fairways and tee boxes were nice but the greens were sub par for the high price you pay to play. Staff was awesome and the beverage cart came by 3 times which was nice.
Dove mountain
The course was very challenging Great opportunity to try a new course.
Very good, but not great!
Fun layout! Good practice facilities., cruised around on a 1:40 tee time on Sunday in 2 hrs. Will play again for sure.
Great for Winter Golf
Had a great GolfNow deal with my rewards discount which made the golf day that much more fun! Always get treated well by the staff, excellent short-game area and large driving range. Plenty of tee boxes and combo opportunities for any level of golfer. Well worth playing, but remember it's Jack's design with plenty of bunkers and greens that are more than interesting. Enjoy!
Wow
The pin placements today were brutal. They should fire the greens keepers. He must’ve had a bad night last night to put them in the places he did. I can see why the pros never want to play there.
Play the Monster
If you want to know what it's like playing a course the pros play take a shot at this one. The tips are 7,600 yards. Of course plenty of tee options but if you really want a feel for what they're up against go for it. Superb conditions. Practice area Callaway range balls with actual greens and bunkers. A couple chipping areas and large putting greens. Go out at noon and have the course to yourself. Greens are perfect bent and fairways and roughs lush. Think each shot thru since course management is essential. Some holes are extreme if you like challenges.
Great course with difficult greens
This is a great course to play except for the greens. Due to some of the severe undulations, certain pin placements can make for a terrible round of golf. Most of my friends never want to play this course for that reason.
