The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Wild Burro/Saguaro
About
Nestled in the desert foothills of the Tortolita Mountain Range, the 27 holes at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain feature dramatic elevation changes and stunning views. The three nines were all designed by Jack Nicklaus and are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Wild Burro/Saguaro golf course combines Nicklaus' favorite nine, Wild Burro, with the front nine of the Accenture Match Play Championship. The golf course features intricately contoured greens and carefully placed fairway bunkers. The course plays through canyons and desert washes covered in centuries-old Saguaro cacti. The third, fourth and fifth holes on the Wild Burro nine are notably challenging with the third featuring an "island green" standing amidst sand and cacti.

This course has great features, except the one noted in my review
Course was exceptional.
The only comment I would have is their GPS. You pay an additional $5 per person which was not the issue. The GPS only gave you the distance to the flag, not the layout of the hole!! This is a course with several bunkers in play off the tee and surrounding the green on each hole, but the GPS did not give any yardage to the bunkers or to carry the bunkers, or the washes running through some of the holes. This is critical information for playing this course. Most every course I have played which offers GPS gives you that kind of information.
Awesome view
Challenging layout and stunning scenery. Course was in excellent condition. Well worth taking the time to enjoy this course.
Perfect for all
The beauty of the course and it’s surroundings are obvious and make it worth any price point. But all the little things make this course a must go anytime you’re in tucson
shark experience?
nice course but the 5 dollar extra charge for the shark experience is a joke. it wasn't even working when we played but they were happy to take our money.
Need to give it another chance
It would have been really helpful if someone had orientated us to the gps functions, instead of just turning of the tv and music. We realized part way through our back nine that there was actually a touch screen and you could mark where you wanted to hit to and yardage would come up. The seats in the cart were deluxe. The greens are a bit rough, lots of unrepaired divots etc. We often missed our tee box as sometimes it is not obvious from the cart path and a sign would be helpful or an arrow, anything. Beautiful scenery, very nice complimentary practice range.
Bad 9 holes
The Catalina is perfect. The Saguaro the all greens is picked bad condition. The GPS have bad info to the green. Hole in front & he give back of green
New to the Golf Club at Dove Mountain
We played the Golf club at Dove Mountain as a hot deal. This seemed to be an appropriate price in light of the fact that the front nine was cart path only and the back nine was 90 degree rule. As a result, the pace of play was slow, but to be expected. As always, the course proved to be a challenge with the most difficult green complexes in the area. When I booked the round, there was mention of the "Shark Experience", but I didn't pay too much attention - I go to this course for the golf challenge. Upon arrival and check in, each player was charged an additional $6 for the "Shark Experience" - which involves the new fleet of state of the art carts. Each comes with a GPS, blue tooth capabilities for both music and television, surround sound, and other innovations. We located the "mute" button before playing, so all was well. Players should be aware of the add-on cost and the potential for non-golf related distractions if paired up with someone who is prone to media entertainment during the round.
Great place great weather great staff
Played Burro and Tortolita, Burro cart path only but greens were great despite recent overseed. Great value and conditions for a former PGA event venue and they treat you like a member. Beautiful 5 star hotel next door and housing does not intrude.
Would like refund ...
Nine holes were cart path only, nobody told us at time of reservation, my 82 year old husband could not play
Range was closed on a Saturday, went early to practice, nobody told us at time of reservation
Last nine holes, waited on every shot despite light play, no ranger
If had known above, would have played somewhere else
Was surprised at check in with a 5$ ‘’cart fee” per person. That left a sour taste for awhile. When leaving talked to counter guy about the fee and he said he would comp it next round. ??? Seems tacky to me.
Very nice course
Have played here a few times. Course is very nice and fun to play. On the day I played back nine was cart path only due to overseeding. I get it but Golf Now did not show this when I booked.
Big issue with this course is they charge you $5 for the Greg Norman Experience GPS system in the cart which has music, news channels, etc. I go to play golf, not listen to music or watch CNN on the golf cart. Note to management; as long as you are forcing me to pay $5 for bogus Sharkexperience that I don't want, I won't be back.
Fun in the sun
Played the Tortolita and Saguaro courses today,
10-10-18.
Played the Tortolita last week. Was overseeded the week before. Yesterday, there was significant improvement. Only negative, the tee boxes were not cut. Overall, I was very pleased with condition of the course. Was surprised there were not many more golfers playing on such a beautiful day. Sunny and 80 degrees.
