Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Nicely Kept
They've done a good job battling the weather and freezes and they paint the fairways which is awesome because it helps track the ball. Greens were not bad for the time of year, however their bunkers need to have actual sand in them. The 11th par 3 is awesome and the sand was brand new but some of the other bunkers are just dirt.. like a the kind you use for fill with rocks and stuff in it. Not going to take off too many points for that since your goal is to not go in them. Last little annoyance is the pin placement. We went on a Wednesday and where the pins were you'd think we were playing Bethpage Black on Sunday in a tournament. Some were at very, very difficult placements so even those who excel at putting might have a hard time getting the ball to stop near the whole on longer puts.
Fun Course in Good Shape
Considering the winter weather, the course was in pretty solid shape. Almost all of the tee boxes and most of fairways were in really good shape for February, especially a week after a big ice storm! The layout was a lot of fun and I’ll definitely be coming back! My group did get stuck behind a slower group, and ended up waiting on almost every hole- we still finished our round just under 4.5 hours, so no real complaints about the pace out there (just expected pace to be a little better for a Tuesday).
Winter continuous a fabulous, with winter rye on tees , fairways, and greens
Do better for your golfers.
Course was in decent condition overall for winter golf. Some bare spots and beat up areas are to be expected. But 6 minute tee times on a Sunday is atrocious. The entire day we are waiting at tee boxes with a group waiting in the fairway and a group on the green. Or 2 in the fairway on some par 5’s. We had a 1:28 tee times, group behind us was 1:34. Sundown 5:38. We played til it was dark and got through 14 holes. This wasn’t one group holding everyone up this was an issue created by greedy 6 minute tee times.
Best little secret
Course is great. Greens are fast and true. Management and staff are super friendly.
Excellent course conditions
Excellent course conditions Especially considering it was winter conditions. Greens were smith and running fast. Staff were very friendly and inviting. Tge value was also great.
Great Shape!
Course was in great shape for this time of year. Greens were fast and true. Edges of some greens bit rough where it looks like they’re trying to expand them.
Worth stopping by
A really fun layout. The greens are fast and pure which I loved. I was really happy to play this course because I have driven by so many times and wondered how it was. The staff are very friendly and the price is reasonable if you go on the right day.
