Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Good golf
It was a bit cold on the first couple of holes but once I warmed up I enjoyed the round very much. The course was in good condition for this time of the year. Looking forward to playing this course again soon.
Whitestone
Bunkers under construction. Nice layout. Trees need trimmed in several holes. I will play again. Greens kept nice also
Pretty good value for a course with challenging holes. Looked like they are making improvements to the greens and tee boxes and fairways/rough in good shape. Hoping they have a plan for bunker renovations in the future but was encouraging to see the improvements elsewhere
Bunkers!
The only thing that is unaceptible are the bunkers, they are flat out unplayable.
Very Nice!
Friendly staff, well maintained course and good pace.
Getting better
Under new management with competent greens keeping, now they are undoing years of damage. Bunkers still unusable, but irrigation much improved, greens excellent, and in a few more months this will be a great course again.
Pleasant Surprise
Tees and fairways in very good condition. Greens are also good condition and offer some challenge with contours and slopes. Bunkers have been deficient some years, no need to try to play out, just take free drop out.. Overall it is well maintained and reasonably priced.
Time management and Bunkers
The entire point in scheduling a tee time is to keep pace of play consistent and not backing up. So you can only imagine my disbelief as were getting to tee off on hole 7 only an hour and twenty min into play that our twosome was playing too slow. Just to find out that I literally saw 4 singles and another double who were playing a scramble and WE were playing too slow?! The average time on their score card was 4 hours 15 min but still finishing 9 under two hours is too slow. I’ll go back and some point but I’d rather play anywhere else that not only time manages their course more effectively but also has real bunkers. Dirt, rocks, and bottle caps are not bunkers. Course should really consider growing grass in the bunkers if they truly don’t care.
5 hour round
Played behind a threesome and the round took 5 hours
Good day for golf
I enjoyed the golf today even if the back nine was being airrated. The course’s front nine is a joy to play even twice.
Pace of Play was worst I've seen in some time.
2 1/2 hrs for front nine. Did not play back nine when 10 was backed up worse than ever had been. Spent all nine holes behind two young high schoolers that included a spoiled brat that beat his clubs into greens and then had to repair the damage. The two groups in front of those two were as slow as I have ever seen. Not a good day for any slow play. Way to hot and humid for that kind of play. No Marshal seen and obviously nowhere close to my group.

This course is challenging for sure. The bunkers need lots of work. The fairways are in fairly good shape as are the greens. I would recommend this course to everyone.
Good golf
Most ejovable golf day. Lots of players but play was not slow. One of the greens was in need of some work but was still playable. I will be back.
