Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Great value course
Fairways are good greens were above average for this time of year. Only negative their bunkers are bad. Very hard and lots of rocks. Other than that it’s a really fun track that won’t destroy the weekend golfer like my self
Course improvement
Whitestone has done a great job in the maintenance and improvement of this course I really appreciate the effort, I consider this my home course and have been waiting for the improvements. disregard the bunkers and well worth the price.
Greens were fast
Overall course in at about 80%, and if only bunkers drained well they'd get 100%. Greens were pretty fast and true and the pin placements today were tougher than normal. We still had a great time!
Tough hole 10
The course is overall in good shape. The greens rolled very well and true. The bunkers need some work. I enjoyed my round but hole number 10 is the toughest Par 5 in the metroplex and should be softened to some degree.
Friendly & relaxed
Whitestone staff are always relaxed and friendly. The course is well-kept and one of the best for the money.
Nice Course
Loved the course. Great value for the condition. Clubhouse/restaurant could use some help. Nothing hot to eat at breakfast and then on the turn nothing could be ready for 15-20 minutes so unfortunately we had to force down a dry pre packaged muffin and a granola bar.
They lied and told us they were out of range balls (by the time we made the turn there were a ton of people in the range). The Marshall was rude and constantly pulling up on us while trying to tee off, etc... The course was in crap shape, but that didn’t stop hem from turning the sprinklers on us for 5 holes on the back 9. We will never play this course again.
Good course, challenging
Only issue with the course are the sand traps, which are basically hard dirt. I would suggest making the majority grass bunkers, with remaining traps filled with sand. Otherwise good course, good staff. Fu.n to play
Fun Course
Fairways and greens in good shape. Young man in Pro Shop was very friendly and professional. I've seen this course in bad shape before, but things are looking good right now.
I was happy playing this course
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Two of our foursome could not make it and the staff let the two of us go off early. My hats off to the people working Whitestone.
Good value
The greens had just been plugged, but played fine.
Decent Course
The course was overall in decent shape. There were 2 greens that were pretty rough, but most of them were pretty true. We had a golf cart run out of gas on Hole 7, which caused a bit of a log jam with other groups having to play through while waiting for a new cart. The young guy that brought the cart had no personality, no apology, and barely said a word. I would say the service industry is not the place for him. The remainder of the round was pretty slow due to this delay. I played White Stone a few years back and it was in much better shape then, but that happens to courses. If you are looking for a decent course to play at a good price, then I would recommend this course. If you are a scratch golfer or better than a 15 handicap, I would go elsewhere.
Good fairways and greens
Everything was very good except the bunkers of course
Course Neglected
The course has a great layout but has been neglected. Trash in carts, weeds around greens, bunkers unplayable, greens infested with ants. So sad because this has such great potential.
Enjoyable round
First, the bad: the sand traps are awful. But if you’re willing to trade that in for great fairways and greens and some chalkenging par 5s, look no further than Whitestone. Super value, too.
really good course
This is a great golf course for the money. Great views, challenging enough, and is enjoyable. If you're a regular guy/gal and enjoy the sport will not be disappointed. However, If you believe you should be on the Tour, this one is not for you.
Summary:
* Great value
* Relaxing views
* Nice staff
* Good pace of play
* Worth the dirve (pun intended)
Great course with its challenges
The course has a great layout. The bunkers are bad in that they have dirt rather tan sand. Your golf shoes leave no marks the bunkers are so hard. Greens were mostly in great shape except one on the back nine. This course was a jewel. Hope the staff keep it up a little better
