Pecan Lakes Golf Course
About
Jay Riviere added another of his many southeast Texas course designs to his resume with Pecan Lakes Golf Club. Par 72 and tipping out at 6,922 yards, this water-infested track plays around a 20-acre lake and waterway system. Water is the primary difficulty, coming into play on 17 of 18 holes, but the golf course is mostly hacker friendly with most par 4s ranging from 300 to 400 yards. The round starts off into the wind and rolls through groves of pecans, oaks, and elms. No. 8 is the best hole -- a tough par 4 that plays between trees on the right and water along the left side. The long approach on 8 must carry a bunker, and is particularly difficult because of the small green. Like the front, Pecan Lakes Golf Club's back nine opens up playing into the wind, with no. 10 playing 400 yards beside water. No. 11 goes 560 yards with a tricky approach that must carry a greenside water hazard. No. 18 is the longest par 4 (452 yards) and doglegs left around two bunkers, with water along the right.

Reviews
Great except for sand
The course is in good shape considering the weather. It is well watered and the greens run true. The only problem is the sand that has been used in the sand traps. It is construction sand that would be used in concrete, not sand that is usually on a golf course. It is very deep and hard to cut through.
friendly course
I like playing this course because the greens make it challenging to calculate your approach. The greens roll true and are undulatingprotected with a littke bit if H2O,and in some cases elevated combined with the wind makes it a true thinking game for the above average player. The fairways are wide enough to make it friendly enough for the hooked or slicer. Therefore, you should enjoy self at Pecan Lakes. Driving range/chipping facility is setup for the one who likes to practice. All in all the the average golfer can afford to visit Pecan Lakes more than once or twice. The rates are affordable!!!
great greens and bunkers.
A really nice course. Greens ran true and bunkers nice. ,Not all green side bunkers right next to greens. all around good condition.
Fun and not busy
Never played this course but knew about it and finally had the time to make the 30 minute drive from Bryan for the hot-deal tee time. Very laid back in the clubhouse but very friendly. I really liked that they give a yardage book to use that gives a few distances (tee to bunker or water; bunker to green; depth of green). The course conditions were pretty decent given the smaller-market type of course. The different tee boxes were spread so you can make it relatively easier/shorter or more of an average-length course. Not a lot of trees so you didn't necessarily have to be accurate off the tee in order to still manage a good score. It was a fun course and I liked how empty it was, especially for a Sunday at 12:40... granted it is August in Texas.
Nice course for the money
Nice course for the price and worth the easy drive from Houston. I play golf at least twice a week and this place will definitely be in my rotation. The only problem with the course are the sand traps that are not sand....more like crushed granite and is messes up my clubs.
I picked a bad day (weather wise)
Unfortunately the course had a major rain the night before and the course was so wet that it was a cart-path only day. Greens were in great shape with so much water and the speed was faster than one might expect - good drainage. Fairways were so wet (standing water) that there was no roll, so it made for a more difficult day.
The staff are very friendly and I would recommend this course to anyone on a better weather day.
The course has water and nice sand traps to make it a challenging round, yet a duffer that can hit it straight would have fun as well.
Great golf course
Had fun and it's a great course for a great price.
First Time, Will Retun
My first visit to this course and I will be back. Its a short drive from the south side of College Station, my new home site. I met a few locals when I checked in at the course they welcomed me to the area and even invited me to join in group play on Thursdays. Fairways and greens are in good condition given the large amount of rain in the area over the past few months. Fairways are a bit more narrow than other courses, but there is also less rough to lose you ball. Bunkers and water are in play if you don't manage direction or club selection well. Great value for my money - I will be back with friends.
Hidden gem
Challenging but friendly course...friendly staff! Great value for the money...i am a 15-16 handicapper and I have an advanced teen golfer (+13) and a ten year old beginner and this course accommodated us all with pace of play and challenge level. Thanks to the friendly staff at PL for a nice afternoon...we'll be back soon!!
Pecan Lakes
Pecan Lakes is a great course for the money! The course is quiet and not overly crowded and the facilities are always well kept. I would definitely recommend this course.
Another day in Nasty
Wasnt too bad except the groups ahead of me were very slow
3/27
Fun course out in Navasota. For the price of $10 you can't beat it. Lots of signature holes, not an extremely difficult layout. Plenty of opportunities for birdies and challenging the greens.
Course is taken care of greens are good
Fun course several challenging holes there is hole no. 2 that is par 3 with water hazard on the right
Good
I played golf last Saturday with my co-worker. I recommend this golf course.
Nice, for the Winter
I haven't played Pecan Lakes in several years, but it was very good considering the weather and the season. Greens were well kept, and the grass was in good shape all things considered. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Good value for the money. Greens are better than the fairways. All in all good value.
Disrespectful Owner
I came early to practice, told the man at the pro shop (the owner) my name and tee time. He responded, "that's not your tee time!" (A HS tournament was playing so you know) I said that's what my golf now app says. He said the tournament may not finish, so you may play later (rudely stating, not politely saying the tournament may push it back). Then I showed him my phone confirmation which he asked where my name is, I showed him, he asked more questions and I tried to show him on my phone when he yanked my iPhone 6 back like it was his!!! Asked him why so disrespectful? Basically he didn't care, didn't understand technology, so if you go, bring a print out.
Then when leaving, he rudely asked me "Do you know you're parked in a handicap parking space? I didn't see a blue placard!" (I'm a disabled veteran) I asked him if he read my plates...No! I showed him, he replies that the letters are to small that say Disabled Veteran US Armed Forces. I told him that any plate with DV on it is a disabled veteran. He could care less! I've been disrespected less and lost my cool, but this 90 year old, grumpy bum wasn't worth losing my cool.
If you want a grumpy old man who will start verbal arguments, disrespect disabled veterans for fun, and start you off in a bad mood....have at it. It's sad, because the open layout is nice, open, and challenging. The sand is the worst I have ever played. More pebbles than sand and about 6 inches deep, just terrible!
No, won't be back!
Great Beginner Course
Friendly service, good prices, relaxing atmosphere. Fairways were mostly dead (it is december) but the greens remained in very good shape. As a beginner it was nice that none of the holes were too long, overall it is a very enjoyable place to play at very good rates. I plan on making more trips out before returning to school.
Nice course
Friendly staff. Nice course conditions. Good value for your money
Recommended
If you don't have to drive hours to the place, I would strongly recommend this course. Great conditions and well maintained.
Greens are good.
