ShadowGlen Golf Club

Played Saturday for the first time in decades. The course and greens were as hard as a rock, due to lack of rain and, apparently, lack of watering.

This course needs redesign to be worth playing for the average player. I'm really tired of Hill Country courses where if you miss the fairway your ball is either lost or unplayable. Cut down some trees, widen the fairways, enlarge the greens, get rid of some bunkers. Either that or water it and grow the rough so it stops a ball before it rolls into oblivion.

In no hurry to return. Nice people, though.

Tough course which plays very long. Some blind holes and large greens.

Greens were rolling well considering the weather has been poor in the area.

Good pace of play which is refreshing these days.

Good challenge for any game with variety of Tee positions making the course playable for most.

Everyone should try Shadow Glen Golf club. Very nice course!. They have the best golf cart in town. It has a ball and club cleaner on the back right side of the cart and it makes it real nice to clean your club right there and by the time you are done playing you will be going home with a clean club. On the back left side is your ice box.to keep your drink or snacks cool while playing.

This is one of the best one in town. The layout of this course is challenging but if you can master this golf course you can play any golf course in the world. It's lively and beautiful. Come try it out!!!

I've played this course a number of times over the years. Every year the course condition gets just a bit worse. Appears that attempts are being made to address some of the more egregious issues but they're not keeping up. Fairways are a weed riddled mess where the edges are prone to be more hard-pack than rough. Greens are still in fair shape though. I've also have lower favorability rating of the general design. Too many holes have a "trick" design usually due to geographic restrictions. Not sure I'd recommend this course to others.

No marshall on the course allowed players to play slowly. Two college kids were clueless about their slow play. Their lack of etiquette coupled with an idiot that combined a Ted Knight (Caddyshack) and Patrick Reed imitation to take a full 1 1/2 minutes after addressing the ball (to swing) made a 5 1/2 hr round in cold weather miserable.

The experience at the golf course was extremely pleasant. The staff were friendly, the course was in great shape for January in Austin and the pace of play was swift. I had made a tee time on a Friday afternoon and enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back again the following morning.

Unfortunately, the frustrations began well after I had completed my second round at ShadowGlen as I received an email from golfnow notifying me that I did not show up/pay for the round and that I was being charged again. After first calling ShadowGlen, they informed me that I needed to contact golfnow. I spent over two hours on hold with golfnow and explained the situation to them. The golfnow representative then contacted ShadowGlen and informed me that a gentleman answered the phone and said that he was the only one working on the morning in question, that my group did NOT show up to our tee time and that golfnow was correct in charging us twice. When I hung up with the golfnow representative I called ShadowGlen back and informed them that there was in fact a woman that checked us in when we paid for our tee time in full, he immediately recognized that he had lied to the golfnow folks and informed me that he would reverse the second charge on my credit card.

In reviewing other comments on this site about ShadowGlen, it appears that I am not the only individual who has experienced a similar set of circumstances.

Great layout and played long with a 3 club wind. A few blind shots might have cost me a stroke or 2. Nice greens would love to play it in the summer.

One of the consistently better public courses in Austin in my opinion. Greens roll true, fairways are good and the rough is actually grass. Practice facilities are solid.

Only complaint is that is doesn't drain very well if there's been a lot of rain.

The pro shop called me the day of my tee time to tell me that they were closing the course due to rain. When GolfNow called them to ask if they did close they were told no they were open. So now I got charged $134 for not playing a course that was closed.

I’ve been playing ShadowGlen for a few years. It’s great to see how much time and effort are being put into the course. The staff is the friendliest around, and the course has been in great shape. I love this course!!

If you can’t hit straight your going to lose a lot of golf balls. Had beautiful shot but due to layout it was llost. There are so many hazards on so many holes. I will not play here again. Almost every hole has a hazard that has to be negotiated. Several have many. That’s my take.

This course can be challenging for all players. Great deal for the price. Course conditions are overall good with some beat up tee boxes and weedy fairways.

Live this course, it's well maintained and challenging!
