Blackhawk Golf Club

About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Family Friendly Fun
Very nice beginner course, perfect for our family with teens learning to play! Well maintained fairways/greens/path and generally straight/easy shots off the tee box with some gentle water features. We played 9 because of time and will be back to try all 18.
Crab Grass in Fairways are back. About 3 Greens are playable.
The course is Mid
The greens are horrendous, the fairways are okay but you get what you pay for.
The Worst Course in Austin!!!
Everything here is terrible! So bad they can’t even supply free tap water on the course for golfers in 110 degree Texas heat. Stay away!!!!
Not bad
The condition of the course was not too good but with that price it's not bad at all.
If you are there to have good time, then it's a nice place to go as it's less than 10 minutes from Round Rock downtown.
You get what you pay for, usually
I’m not delusional in my expectations for this course. If you know the greens are going to be rough coming in, then you’re good. This time we went was pretty bad though. For Saturday rounds, they usually more the greens on Friday for the prime playing times but not this time. It was bad plus the sprinklers were still full blown spraying on the 6th hole when we got there. The price is great but this time it wasn’t worth the $50. Hoping things turn around here soon.
The Worst Course in Austin!
This course is by far the worst kept in the Austin area. No Marshall, terrible fairways, no sand in bunkers, patchy greens that haven’t been aerated in 20 years and the absolute worst thing is they don’t have the decency to supply drinking water to any golfers on the course. The “No water” issue is just plain wrong in the Texas heat. Stay away!!
The Worst Course In Austin Area!
This is by far the worst course in the area and they don’t care. Grass has grown in the bunkers, the grass in the fairways are terrible, greens haven’t been aerated in years and the worst thing of all, NO WATER for golfers on any hole. Absolute trash! No water in the Texas heat is crazy. DO NOT play here ever.
Worst golf course I’ve been to
Pace of play was abysmal. On every tee box there was a line of 3 groups waiting to tee off. the course condition was the worst I’ve ever seen. The fairways were terrible, and the greens were even worse. The greens had ant hills, weeds, sand and a whole lot of brown grass. Far and away the worst course I have ever played on DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. The owner of this course should be sentenced to a North Korea labor camp.
Don’t Do It
I first started playing this course in 2015. Since then the conditions of the course got worse and worse. Today we have the course another chance after not playing here for a few years because some of the reviews were mixed. The only good holes are the ones you can see from the road. The fairways are trash. Half of the fairways have no grass to hit off of . The greens are trash. Dead spots, sandy spots, not cut. It’s been 3 years since I played here last and the conditions are the exact same. It seems like there’s no effort in fixing it. The worst part is, if you’re going to be missing grass in the fairways and greens then at least cut down the rough. Seriously spend the extra money and go somewhere else. This course has potential but they have no motivation to improve the conditions.
