Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Awful course conditions
This might be the worst maintained golf course I have ever been on. The fairways and greens had weeds growing everywhere. Bear patches cracks in the ground. The bunkers are no longer filled with sand, they have let the grass grow and turn them into grass bunkers.
Not a good course
Never been before. New to the area. I tried it out and we made a tee time but for no reason. There were literally 6 people playing golf on a Sunday. If the course isn’t packed on a Sunday then that should be a sign it’s not a good course. The course is in terrible conditions. I read other reviews and most people say they leave after 9 holes because it’s that bad. We only played all 18 because there wasn’t anyone else there. Do not recommend this course. I will never go back.
Conditions have gotten worse.
Blackhawk has always been bad, it’s continued to go downhill. Irrigation issues leave the entire course under standing water. Fairways that aren’t mud or puddles are riddled with weeds. It’s very possible to lose your ball in the center of the fairway. When it is dry out, it feels like you’re hitting into concrete. The greens are 50% sand and the areas with grass are as well covered in weeds. Extremely inconsistent. Only course in Austin with readily available tee times, horrible value for what they charge.
Land before time fairways
I wanna start off by saying I’ve been to a lot of golf courses around the country and I genuinely have low expectations… this is by far the worst course I’ve ever been to. The fairways on the first few holes are fine after that, it gets WILD. I spent almost 20 minutes looking for balls that I hit dead down the middle. They desperately need to cut the fairways.several greens are more sand than anything. Number 17? Forget about it. I played a twilight round for $37 and it was not worth it at all. Should be like $15. The only bright side is they have electric carts. Number 10 is also a makeshift par 3 when it’s supposed to be a par 4. This course isn’t even on the usga list.
Course is in terrible shape
There is a reason there are so many tee times available same day. The course is in horrible condition. The "greens" are just dirt and a little bit of dead grass amd the wntire course is hard as a rock. This place needs some serious attention.
Good course needs lot of work
Enjoyed the layout of the course but lack of maintenance/management shows on the fairways and greens - feel more like a rustic park than a golf course.
Worst fairways I have ever played.
Fairways looked like a cow pasture. Most greens were half sand half mud. For 60.00, there are much better courses. Staff was friendly and the cart girl made rounds fast but that’s about it.
Grounds Keepers need to be investigated or something
The greens should not have bunkers. And they also shouldn’t be yellow(dead) 😂. Tee boxes aren’t terrible and fairways have some crazy dirt patches just some hazards to practice away from I guess, for 16$ from golf now hot deal I can’t complaint less than a dollar a hole. Great to practice. Don’t expect to set a handicap here
Course Needs Work
Drives down the middle don’t end up with a good lie. The amount of sand and dirt patches on the greens is about a 50/50 split compared to grass. This course needs a lot of work and should be half the price of what they’re charging. That said, the martial and grill staff were friendly and we still had a good time.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GOLF COURSE
I'm in my mid 60s. I've been playing golf since I was about 8 years old. This is the worst golf course I have ever played. Tee boxes were ok at best. Fairways were terrble. Mud, dirt, very littel grass. Greens were worse. No bathrooms. No water to drink. No cart person to buy water or other drinks from. Old and outdated carts. No yardage markers. I actually feel bad for the folks that work here because they were actually very nice and respectful. We stopped after 9 holes as we could not take it anymore. All the recent reviews that give this place one star are completely accurate. Shame on me for not checking out the reviews before we played.
Golf course?
I think i booked a tee time at a local golf course but when i arrived it was more like a warzone. I didn’t know i enlisted in the army when i signed my waiver. The layout isn’t bad but the actual fairways are pretty similar to the journey Frodo had to destroy the ring. Found at least 10 balls in the fairway. I assume people just quit mid round. I finished the whole 18 with all my limbs still attached but broke every tee due to the asphalt like grass. Definitely would recommend playing putt putt in a prison yard with a 12 inch adult toy vs this course.
Been 6 yrs ....still nothing
Finally get an opportunity to go play a round in the evening...... book the tee time on golf now ...... I have to pay for 2 spots for a single( that's the way Blackhawk has had it setup on golfnow since they wanted to make more money )
Drive 30 minutes
Arrive
Clerk acts like he knows nothing about golfnow reservations and doesnt even have a chip reader for your debit card or touchless pay.
My card is worn .... so what? ........i go to the convience store and had just used it
Clerk enters the card into his system still nothing.
" The course is very busy sir and even If you pay for 4 tee times....
We probably couldn't accomodate a single this evening."
Wow !... but its been like this since I've been in Austin
Rude attendant/ clerk and lazy too accomodate anything
Shout out to the best in Austin and around Star Ranch,The Bandit, Grey Rock..... Bastrop River Club had the best employees and it totally made up for course conditions. Played there for 3 yrs till they closed
If you dont want to work on a golf course please find something else to do
100% of people going to the golf course do not want to deal with over worked, rude, no help employees
The exact opposite of what golf etiquette is supposed to be
Last time i went , the Marshall harrassed me and my 15 yr old son accusing us of going off the cart path and threatened to sell our clubs...... i told him that we didnt go off the cart path and it was the truth
what a joke
So ..... what could I expect? A nice evening?
I had to drive 30 minutes back home and not play.
Thanks Management of Blackhawk
Only thing that has changed there in 6 years in the roundabout
The highway dept bulds an entire street and roundabout in the time it takes for this place to do absolutely nothing to better itself
What a joke
Cola vista is the same as well
